Itinerary

After pickup from your central Florence hotel, depart with your dedicated guide for the Accademia Gallery.

On arrival, bypass the main entrance lines and use your skip-the-line ticket to enjoy fast-track access. Work your way around the highlights of the world-famous collection, whose main drawcard is 'David' by Michelangelo, but which houses many other art treasures.

Admire Michelangelo’s unfinished sculptures, 'Prigioni' and 'San Matteo,' and see art by greats like Botticelli, Uccello, and Andrea del Sarto. Gain insight from your guide, learning about the subjects portrayed and artistry behind each piece.

Take time to view 'David' in the central gallery, admiring its beauty from every perspective. Michelangelo was only in his early 20s when he carved the 17-foot (5.17-meter) statue from a single block of Carrara marble, and it represents the biblical hero, David, who slayed Goliath.

As you admire the sculpture, learn how it was unveiled in 1504 and became a symbol of the civil liberties embodied in the Florentine Republic of the time.

Loved the skip the line Accademia Gallery and Michelangelo’s David Tour. Impressive collection of art and sculpture of David. Enjoyed the sculpture and the musical rooms too. Liked the fact that this gallery wasn’t as busy as the Cathedral and other monuments we toured. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable too. Meeting point was easy to find and for a 8:00 meeting time, it was a safe and easy walk.

Leonardo was our guide. Do not settle for less. Request Leonardo. We were staying at the Saint Regis and Leonardo used our location as an opportunity to see other interesting sites on the way. He took us by the oldest pharmacy in the world, the oldest building in Florence, the Piazza della Republica, and the Piazza del Duomo where the Florence Cathedral. All of this on the way to give us historical content on the way to see the David. He was full of terrific information and spoke perfect English. The David was spectacular. Seeing it in person was breathtaking. It stands almost 16’. No pictures in books can give you any idea. I’m serious when I say this, a private tour with Leonardo is worth whatever the cost. Bravo Leonardo!

Perfect way to see the Academia

Stefania was a wonderful, knowledgeable guide. She got us right into the museum without waiting, and the lines to get in without reservations were very long! So this got us off to a great start. She knows the museum so well that we went through to the most important exhibits and she had excellent commentary, historical knowledge and even some good gossip about the Medici family. And of course, seeing Michelangelo's David was a highlight, especially with Stefania giving us details about the sculptor and sculpture. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the Academia without any stress about lines, who wants to see the David, and enjoys hearing s little art history from a real professional. Thank you Stefania.
