What To Expect

Travel independently to the Pitti Palace in central Florence. Admire the imposing exterior of the vast palace, home to Florence’s ruling Medici family from 1549, and show your skip-the-line ticket to bypass the main entrance lines at your selected entry time.

Make your way inside to the Palatine Gallery, housed in the west wing of the palace to explore the magnificent artworks in your own time. The gallery houses more than 500 examples of largely 17th-century European art, all displayed in the sumptuous private rooms of the former ducal apartments.

See works by Titian, Rubens, Van Dyck, Caravaggio, and Velazquez. Admire masterpieces like the 1514 Madonna and Child by Raphael and portraits by Botticelli. Other works by Bronzino, Fra Bartolomeo, Piero del Pollaiolo, and Filippo Lippi are also on view.

Afterward, head to the Pitti Palace's second floor to the Gallery of Modern Art. Wander through the rooms, occupied by Italy’s royals until 1920, to see collections by Italian artists from the late 18th and early 20th centuries. Look for the paintings from the Macchiaioli movement, considered precursors to the impressionist school.

I had to wait in line to get my ticket. I did not receive one that I could use on my phone. So that it is not skip the line!

Response from Host, Oct 2023

We are sorry you had problems downloading your voucher from the VIATOR app, we do not control this aspect of the procedure.

No guide. Misunderstood or misled ?

We thought it would be a guided tour - The website let us to believe it be guided. We have used lots of viatours over the years and I’ve had great experiences. This just did not work out.

CHILDREN ARE FREE

PAULA_O, Dec 2019
I visited Italy with a school group of 24 students in Dec 2019 and used Viator to book skip the line tickets to the Pitti Palace. The Pitti Palace itself is an amazing museum and I thoroughly recommend it. Just one note of warning - minors (children under 18) are free of charge (need ID). After having paid a lot of money to Viator for our tickets I was not at all happy to arrive there to be told minors are free and we could have saved ourselves over $300. It is also not necessary to book Skip-the-line tickets when travelling in low season. When we arrived at 10am on Sun 15 Dec the place was empty

We had the misfortune of booking the day the Pitti Palace closed due to the terrible weather. Although we were offered the chance to use them another day we had moved on to Venice.

as we entered the apartment wing of the tour, there was a museum employee, Stefano, at the desk checking tickets. He had a clip board offering special tour of la cucina. TAKE IT! we got to see the king's apartment and kitchen, an experience not to be missed if available. Stefano was amazing with his knowledge and enthusiasm.

The line was not very long and the price from Viator is more than double. But what is inside is worth seeing, a lot of extraordinary rooms and lovely paintings. We took 3 hours to see the Palace and the Boboli Garden and we were in a rush a little

The Palatine Gallery defies description. I would rank it Number One to see in Florence, ahead even of the Uffizi. The variety of art--paintings, sculptor, decorations, mosaics--is breathtaking. Must see! What you need to know that Viator failed to explain: I arranged the tour online and got a printout confirmation with a bar code. BUT: I had learned from an earlier tour of the Accademia that you must present the computer printout at the on-site ticket office to get the actual ticket to enter the museum. Please, Viator! Let your customers know that the computer printout will not get you admitted at the door and you need to take it to the local ticket office to get the actual admission ticket. The printout does allow you to skip the line at the ticket office.

Self guided tour, but get the skip the line tix and go early to beat the crowds. So much to see. Fried my brain. Great gift shop, good prices on prints. "Modem Art" portion of ticket refers to anything after 1700, apparently, but shows evolution of Italian art into early 20th century. Beautiful.

There is so much art to see, and the rooms of the palace are endless. I would add another 10 and buy the ticket for the Boboli Gardens and other museums with this ticket. We could get it very easily from the ticket office when we redeemed the voucher for Pitti Palace.

La Galerie Palatine est très intéressante mais je regrette d'avoir pris Viator qui facture les entrées pour les enfants alors que c'est gratuit.
