Overview

Chianti is home to the scenic wine country and notable cellars, but getting there on unfamiliar rural roads on your own can be challenging. This group wine tour takes you to two different wineries in the Tuscan hills to explore the vineyards and their cellars, as well as relax over guided tastings. Meet our staff at Villa Costanza, in front of 'The Florence Gate' Cafetteria. Reach the meeting point getting on T1.3 tramway to Villa Costanza (the stop will be at the terminus). The ride is 20 min from center and you can choose the nearest stop to hop on.

Itinerary

Make your own way to the Florence meeting point. Board the air-conditioned coach or minivan and settle in for the journey through the picturesque Chianti hills.

At your first winery, Fattoria Lornano, enjoy a delightful wine tasting paired with delicious snacks while learning about the small Tuscan winery’s history and production process.

Continue to Casale dello Sparviero to explore the property and enjoy an exclusive winery tour and wine–tasting experience that is off limits to most other tour groups.

Finally, enjoy free time in Monteriggioni, a historic walled town dating from the Middle Ages.

An authentic experience

This was just a fun experience and a great way to experience a taste of Tuscany. Time just flew by! Our guide Alessia was so sweet and helpful, and kept all 50 of us organized and entertained. Could not have asked for a better guide! The two wineries provided wine, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar tastings, and then we had the opportunity to visit the historic Monteggiori. Definitely an experience to remember.

I traveled with my brother for my birthday, I love wine and he wanted to do a tasting so we booked this experience months out. Our tour was 4/4. The operator, though I can’t remember her name, did try to help but was untruthful about the air conditioning on the bus. The vents blew out hot air then completely went out on the bus, it made for a very uncomfortable and exhausting experience from Florence to the Tuscany area. We visited two wineries and a small town after and the attendants were very nice at both wineries. All- in - all not the best experience, but not necessarily the worst, as we made some new friends along the way!

The wine tasting was nice, but both were at very commercialized wineries and both had a big interest in selling us their product. There was no tour of the winery or cellars, which is what I thought we would get. My mom doesn’t drink much, so I was just hoping it would be informative and fun. We had a good time, but it both wineries were making jokes about getting drunk, when that’s not why we were there. So depends what you’re doing for. Also, our tour guide was really unfriendly. I’ve been on a tour in wine country Italy before and it was so much more involved with tour guides who felt like friends. Overall, this was fun enough but eh.

Really fun outing, even if you're not a big wine drinker. It's a bit of a ride to and from but scenery is beautiful. There is not a lit of walking g so can be a nice outing between other heavier excursions.

Unfortunately we were looking forward to a Chianti experience. As the old saying goes you pay cheap you pay twice! You get what you pay for. Firstly the tour started half hour late because we had to wait for some numbnuts who were running late. Too bad show up on time so all the others don’t have to suffer. Next the microphone on the bus cracked it, next, first winery the host was so hard to understand. Next. The second winery looked like an old car factory. Ugly AF !!! However inside was quite nice. Both wanted to charge ridiculous prices. Seriously we have been to many wine regions around the world. These people were having a lend. A big commercial tour. Pay extra for a better experience which we did the next day

Highlight of our trip!

We did a day trip from Venice to Tuscany for a half-day wine tour, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our entire trip. The wines were incredible, and every stop was genuinely fun. The bus was clean and comfortable, and the rides between wineries were short and easy. Each tasting came with small snacks that paired perfectly with the wines—just enough to keep you going throughout the day. There were opportunities to buy bottles, but never any pressure, which made the experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. We brought our 11-month-old along, and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming or accommodating. It didn’t take away from the experience at all, which we really appreciated. Overall, highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for great wine, great scenery, and a great time. 🍷🌿

Really poor experience....

Really poor experience. High pressured sales pitcher at the wineries. Mediocre wines. Little time to look around the interesting aspects. The worst part, the ride back. Total party bus. Extremely loud music, yelling, and total and absolute disregard for the people who were visibly uncomfortable. Tpur guide seemed to encourage the poor behavior of a few. Additionally, the bus was so very hot. Do not purchase unless you enjoy high-pressure sales and a crazy, uncomfortable 50 minute ride.

A Beautiful Tour Undermined by Noise and Neglect

My spouse and I joined this Chianti wine tour during our honeymoon. While the scenery was beautiful and the concept of visiting multiple wineries sounded appealing, the overall experience fell short of expectations. At the beginning of the trip, the guide clearly stated that wine and alcohol were not permitted on the bus. However, following the final stop, a group of about 10–12 young adults (likely around 20–21 years old) each brought bottles of wine and beer onto the bus and began drinking and vaping during the return ride. The guide did not intervene, and this continued for the entire 50-minute drive back to the meeting point. It created an uncomfortable and chaotic atmosphere for the rest of us who were hoping for a more relaxing end to the day. Regarding the wineries themselves — the wine was fine, but the sales approach was very aggressive. Both wineries emphasized that their products were “private label” and only available for purchase directly from them, which in hindsight feels like a small red flag. During the tastings, the pressure to buy was high, and while they claimed “free shipping” and “customs included,” there turned out to be hidden fees and additional costs once the order was finalized. These fees brought the total far beyond what the actual retail value of the wine likely was. Overall, while the Tuscan countryside and vineyard settings were undeniably lovely, the lack of professionalism during the return trip and the hard-sell tactics at the wineries made this tour feel more commercial than cultural. I would recommend future travelers research tours with stricter guest supervision and more transparent pricing before booking.

Our guide Marcus was great, the quality of the wine and sample sizes was far better than the Val d'orca tour (with another tour group). Great fun was had by all. Of note, it was difficult to find the tour group to check in. They were not wearing the clothes noted in check in instructions and had no obvious tour sign.

Really enjoyed this trip. Lovely wine at two vineyards and lovely stop on way back at the castle village. Did feel a little rushed at the end but think we were late because of waiting for people at the start and traffic. Also the starting instructions should be made clearer that the T1 tram can be boarded at the main station.

It was ok. VERY FAR FROM TOWN took 40 minutes from train station. Could not hear well do yo screeching from group. Acted like it was a nightclub event . Made everyone wait for to inability to get back to bus on time. Our small group tour was canceled at last minute so this was it. It was ok. Struggled to understand guide. For a time crunch and no time to find anything else it was ok.
