Itinerary

Meet your guide in central Florence in the early afternoon to begin your tour.

Admire the original 'David' statue in the Accademia, copies of which are all over Florence. See other works by Michelangelo, including unfinished sculptures known as 'The Prisoners' and another called the 'Palestrina Pietà.' Learn about the symbolism of Michelangelo's David, with his intense look of courage and determination, and what that meant for the Florentine Republic.

Enjoy an informative walking tour through historic Florence to learn about this city's importance throughout the centuries. Begin in the Loggia del Bigallo overlooking Piazza del Duomo to see the iconic cathedral with Brunelleschi's red-tiled dome, the Baptistery and its 'Gates of Paradise,' and Giotto's elegant bell tower. Walk through the heart of Florence past the Orsanmichele Church (a masterpiece of Gothic art) to the Mercato della Paglia, one of the city's old markets. Rub the nose of the bronze pig – known as the 'Porcellino' – and toss a coin into the fountain for good luck.

Learn about the Ponte Vecchio, Florence's oldest bridge and lined with gold and jewelry shops, before arriving in the Piazza della Signoria. Hear about the buildings that surround this square, including the Palazzo Vecchio where the Medici once lived. Admire the Fountain of Neptune and the sculptures on display in the Loggia dei Lanzi, Cellini’s Perseus and the Gianbologna’s Rape of the Sabines among them.

Stroll through the ornately-decorated halls and rooms of the Uffizi Gallery, once the government offices of the Medici and now home to one of the finest collections of Italian paintings. See works by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Caravaggio, Cimabue, Masaccio, Michelangelo, and Botticelli, whose 'Birth of Venus' painting is a symbol of the museum depicting the sea goddess rising from her shell, a picture of ideal beauty.

Not what I expected but good guides

Melanie_J, Oct 2024
I booked the tour without lunch and was travelling into Florence by train. It said it was a six hour tour which started at 9am but actually you should plan for a full day until about 6pm. Unfortunately, I had to leave the tour early as my return train was already booked and paid for. 9am tour of acedamia gallery, then you have to find the second check point for the walking tour which finished about 12.30, then you have spare timee all the way until 3pm for the Ufizzi and you have to go to another checking point. Three check ins in one day! By the time you start the guide for Ufizzi it's already 3.30 so I left the tour and ran around the gallery before heading to get my train, I never had time to listen to the guide. I begged them to give me an earlier ticket to Ufizzi so I could stroll around during the giant lunch gap but they refused. Also you have no spare time between acedemia and the walking tour, just enough time to go to the toilet and locate the next check in. I recommend that you book your gallery tickets yourself so that you an explore them at your leisure, download an audio guide. I do recommend the walking tour as the guide will take you to all the key points and has lots of knowledge.

Response from Host, Oct 2024

Dear Melanie, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that all relevant details, including the schedule and check-in locations, are clearly outlined in the vouchers sent upon booking. This is done to help our guests organize their day in advance, ensuring they have all the necessary information to enjoy the experience fully. Regarding the Uffizi tickets, as explained by our operations team, these are pre-booked for a specific time slot and unfortunately cannot be collected earlier. Hoping that the above clarifications meet your understanding, Best regards

This tour turned out very good but it was not clear that this was 3 different tours bundled together. Instructions/information could use some clearer details but all in all we enjoyed all parts of this tour.
