Absolutely Amazing Tour!! Becky our tour guide was spectacular. She knew so much history and knowledge of the city of Florence and the Duomo itself. She even gave us recommendations on places to eat and go in the city. The stairs to the top were very doable, however be prepared if you are tall. We had members of our group who were 6 feet tall and higher and needed to duck down in a lot of places. The climb took about 20 minutes with several stops along the way to see different angles of the church and outside, in addition to the line of people going up. We saw so much of Florence in our short amount of time, and this tour was by far our favorite part. The view on top of the Duomo was beautiful!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our guided tour with Becky. She is clearly very knowledgeable and has a great way of sharing her knowledge -her enthusiasm is contagious. We were lucky to go on the 4.30pm tour as although it seems late in the day, this is much better as there are fewer crowds and I think we had more time to enjoy the duomo, frescoes and fabulous views from the top. Becky is patient, kind and obviously wanted everyone in the group to get the most out of it. We remembered quite a lot of information from this tour because Becky makes it so interesting and easy to understand. Also included in this ticket was access to Giotto’s Bell Tower which is worth knowing as we’d bought a separate ticket!
We would thoroughly recommend this tour - money well spent. Thank you Becky. ☺️

Without a doubt one of the best, most efficient ways to experience the beauty, rich history of the Duomo as an architectural wonder. Minimum wait time, small group and very well organized and led by our tour guide Becky who delivered a spirited, rich history of the events, people and personalities that shaped the dome and its affiliated structures over the centuries. Highly recommended -- and definitely one of the top tours of our stay in Florence.

We had a wonderful tour guide! Patient, informative and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!! I forgot her name but she was middle aged, dark curly hair, and has been giving tours for 10 years.

Becky was an amazing tour guide. I was so glad we had her to explain the exhibits in the museum. She was so knowledgeable. The climb to the top of the Duomo was tiring, but well worth it. The views were spectacular. Highly recommend.

Thought it was a touch expensive, but I was wrong,the tour guide was excellent, so much knowledge on the history of the Duomo, some of the highlights was visiting the museum, standing where Michaelangelo cut his david,seeing the baptistery doors by Ghilberti, the climb of the Duomo will be a great memory until my next visit to Florence, highly recommend Viator

Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative, the Duomo Museum visit was an unexpected delight and amazing art history lesson. The climb was very manageable and there are opportunities to opt out midway if desired. Would definitely recommend!

Our tour guide Camilla was excellent and she shared great stories and background that brought the tour to life and gave us lovely insights into historical events. It was not a chronological approach to the buildings and people but one that shared the lives of events of what happened.

Our tour guide was amazing! I can’t remember his name unfortunately, but he has a phd in art history and was so knowledgeable about the history of the city and the duomo. He truly made it a fantastic experience! So fun to learn from him.

Good overview and information from tour guide Becky. It is a hard climb and I felt a little rushed so didn’t quiet make it to the top
Our guide, Emmanuelle was excellent, he was easy to find at the meet up point, personable and extremely knowledgeable. He first walked us around the plaza showing us the highlights of the exterior of the basillica, bell tower and baptistery.
We then entered the Opera Dell’ Duomo where he showed us some of the surviving sculptures from the previous exterior decorations. He also explained about the contest to design the baptistry doors as well some other sculptures in the museum.
The dome climb is well worth it but be prepared for a workout, especially in warmer months. The views of the city were amazing and made up for the climb. The stairways and corridors are narrow and in some places have very low ceilings so if you are claustrophobic or have mobility issues this may not be the tour for you. There are several places to take a break along the way if needed.
We would highly recommend this tour and it has been the highlight of our stay in Florence.
This will stand out as a top 5 experience for me for the rest of my life! Emanuele was an excellent guide, knowledgeable, friendly and easy to understand. He explained so much about the history and meaning of the Duomo and in the museum. But then, he also guided us to the top of the Duomo, thru the maze of passages, balconies and doors, to the outside of the dome where he then pointed out buildings and structures in each direction. It was exhilarating and also astounding to see how this was made. He then accompanied us down and out. A great tour with a great guide, who was very generous with his time and knowledge!
Reading the next part will describe the climb, spoiler alert!
Note: there are around 450 steps to the top! At first the steps are easy, but there is no railing. After the first stopping area with statue display, the stairs narrow greatly and are steeper, with stairs going in a spiral pattern, which makes them triangular instead of rectangular ( not as much room for the inside foot), which can feel a little dizzying. Now, at the dome, you walk around a lower balcony inside the dome. There is plexiglass to keep things from falling through, but the balcony is just wide enough to walk thru. The last set of stairs are much steeper and switch back and forth to get to the top; however, there is a sturdy railing. Last, ladder-like stairs out to the roof! And the awe-inspiring view from the top of the dome!
The trip down is similar, but at some point, the route varies to take you back through the inside of the dome at a higher level than before.
A MOST excellent tour, but one not to be taken lightly because of the climb.

Budget for a beer (or 2) when back down on piazza - stairs make you thirsty!

If you want to visit the Duomo, DO THIS TOUR, it is absolutely worth it.
First and foremost, Becky is an absolute gem! She took the tour to a whole other level with her wealth of knowledge and her beautiful storytelling. She had everything planned to perfection: we did a walk around the Duomo plaza and got to see all the monuments in different angles, we then spent a good amount of time in the museum, and Becky walked us through a whole journey, artwork by artwork. She told us about the artists, the rivalries, the changes and innovations in technique throughout the years; I actually feel like I got to understand the artists on a more personal level.
The climb up to the top of the dome is of course challenging, but quite doable. Becky made sure everyone did it at their own pace, and she gave us even more fascinating history once everyone had reached the top. At the end, she even helped each family to take photos to commemorate the event.
I highly highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting beautiful Florence, you won’t regret it (And yes, the view is absolutely worth it).

We booked this tour since it was the only way we were able to get tickets for the Duomo climb. Although we booked it almost a month before our trip, we were not notified that the cathedral was actually closed the day of our tour due to a national holiday in Italy – something known well in advance but unfortunately not communicated to the participants until the day of our tour. Our tickets were good to tour the cathedral the following day but travel plans would not accommodate this. The bigger issue is I would have worn entirely different clothes more appropriate for the climb (vs. needing to have shoulders/knees covered to be appropriate for the starting point that is usually in the cathedral). The climb is long but entirely manageable, even in record high temperatures of the summer. The climb to the Duomo was incredible and views from the top of the cathedral well worth the effort. Definitely bring water and a small hand fan is especially helpful if you're there in the summer.
Our guide, Emmanuelle, is EXTREMELY kind, professional and knowledgeable about all Italian art, as a PhD in art history. I only gave this a 4-star rating given the focus of this tour seemed more to be an art history lesson. We love museums and go to museums often. Unfortunately, we’re not art history students, and although we felt well prepared to pass an art history exam by the end of the tour, a few mins without the detailed narration in the museum would have been greatly appreciated. The extra 30 mins of the tour not spent in the cathedral was used for even more explanation of the detail of sculptures, art pieces in the museum, and teaching us about the transition from Iconic art to Renaissance art in Italy.
Becky was amazing, hugely knowledgeable and delivered in a very easy to digest way. Yes a lot steps but well worth it

You definitely need to be able to walk and have stamina to go up the stairs of the duomo. Experience was great
It’s a definite must see in Florence. Our guide, Emanuel, was very knowledgeable about the architecture and art of the entire buildings and they are massive! The climb up to the top of the dome is not easy but completely worth it! The view is spectacular! The only thing we didn’t do was tour the inside of the cathedral with our guide which I thought was part of the overall experience. However, he said our tickets were good for two days so if we had been staying longer we might have done that.
Guide was very knowledgeable. The museum tour was great. The climb is a challenge; narrow corridors and stairs. Overall a worthwhile experience
Great tour on such a hot day. Some of the tour was conducted inside the air conditioned museum. Tour guide was excellent. Good co-operation and informative. Husband went up the duomo some 463 steps but it was too much for me. Anyway, very much enjoyed and husband got some great photos.
