At no time in the booking...

At no time in the booking process did Viatour say you need IOS 18 to download the purchased tickets. My phone is older and there is no option to download an older version of the app. The people at the museum were helpful but unable to admit us because the technical issue. Beware, communication regarding the needed app was poor. If you have an older phone you cannot retrieve your tickets. A total waste.

Costs a lot of money and nerves

First of all, the price is obvoiusly more than double of what the museum charges. Official tickets were sold out so this was the only option. After purchase all I got was a dubious PDF document. It was supposed to be some kind of voucher to exchange for the actual ticket. The location in the document to meet and recieve the ticket was a closed restaurant inside the museum, only acessable with the ticket itself. So i contacted the seller via the Viator App, as i couldn‘t call because the phonenumber was canadian. They told me that I will recieve the tickets before the day of my travel via email. On that day, the tickets still haven‘t arrived so I sent another message. An hour later, I was told that my booked timeslot in the morning wasn‘t available due to high demand and the only available slot was in the afternoon. Since we hadn‘t made strict plans for the day, it was fine and at that point I was very desperate to get any timeslot available since my girlfriend had chrocheted an entire top in Van Gogh style. They confirmed it eventually, the next day at the museum everything went fine and we had a fantastic time, but the entire communication and uncertanty was very exhausting. I definitely recommend planning early and getting the tickets through the museum or official resellers listed on their website

Audio headset was great...

Audio headset was great in the beginning, but a fine tuning is needed as to where to go next, for example, now proceed to the blank area. The food in the cafeteria could be improved. I had a timed entry ticket, but what good was that when the line was so long? Everyone around me was also complaining about it.

Misrepresentation - No such thing as “skip the line”!!

There is no such thing “as skip the line” when you arrive at designated time you join the current line irrespective of how long the line is. How can someone advertise that you can skip the line when clearing upon arrival and you are advised by security at the door no such thing exists and you just join at the end of the current line. Do not pay extra or believe you are getting anything additional.

The museum is a waste of time , Van Gogh doesn’t have enough work to fill a museum . If you wanna pay whatever price you find to go stand in front of 2 or 3 of his very overrated most famous pieces … it’s your money But it’s not worth the time or money . Just go to the Rijksmuseum right next to it for pretty much the same price and see 100’s of much more impressive pieces of art

Van Gogh museum was wonderful. So glad we went. The audio really helped us to fill immersed in the experience and understand Van Gogh as an artist and a person. We received the tickets by email a day before allowing us to skip the queue.

Viator cancelled our tickets day before. We received prompts to download tickets but y=they app and/or email didn’t have link to that request. So, they cancelled our tickets purchased two months in advance!

Non-existent meeting point

Zero stars if I could. Stay away from this one. We could not find the tour operator to get the entry tickets. I confirmed with museum personnel and verified that the listed meeting point does not exist and was permanently closed. Called Viator and they also were not able to contact the tour operator. Traveled from the US to the Netherlands to see the Van Gogh Museum and left empty handed. To say that we were extremely disappointed is an understatement. Hope Viator clears this situation up and that I at least get my money back soon.

Incompetent and Misleading

We could not find the meeting place as it was inside the museum. You can’t get into the museum without a ticket and the voucher provided was therefore useless. We ended up having to buy tickets and audio sets. We could not call due to time constraints and international calling restrictions. There was nothing in the communications that indicated tickets had been sent and the museum staff advised they had other guests who had the same problem with Viator. And not least, was Viator’s fee was 3 times the cost of a museum ticket. Why and for what service? This was not a semi-private tour only audio. In a chat with Viator you claim the tickets were sent. Where were they. Your communications repeatedly advised of a process where the vouchers would be exchanged for tickets. An impossibility. This entire process was incompetent and misleading as well as an overcharge for no service provided. The wise customer relation move would be to give a refund rather than insisting the tickets were sent, especially considering your repeated instructions that vouchers were to be exchanged for tickets and there was no accessible meeting place. Please do the right thing here and acknowledge your failings and give a refund.
