I'd highly recommend this canal tour. The boat and the route were lovely. The drinks and snacks were great. Captain Charlie was brilliant. She was so knowledgeable and friendly and made it really interesting. We saw the most stunning sunset towards the end of the cruise and then the twinkling lights of the city at night.

We've been traveling around central Europe for nearly three weeks, and this small group canal cruise was probably the best tour that we booked through Viator. The guide, Erik, was personable, knowledgeable, humorous and professional. I'd sail with him again anytime.

Excellent way to see Amsterdam and have some snacks - much better than the big boats. Cpt Storm was fun. Would have enjoyed a bit more history and explanation of what we were seeing but learned a lot about Dutch people and culture so that was fun.

Captain Erik was the absolute best. Do this Cruise! He was a wealth of information above and beyond a standard tour guide. We learned a lot about the history of Amsterdam from the point of many generations of his family. A true local!

Really great experience! Had a super fun group and captain Erin was the best! A lot of drink options and the smaller group made it easier to get to know everyone

Great first day activity! The sun was shining, and Storm kept us entertained. The snacks and drinks were great. Best balls in Amsterdam!

Captain Storm was great fun and very informative, we did two hours which was a great amount of time to properly see the city. The company were really understanding when one of our party was ill and they allowed us to change our booking to another day at the last minute - that was really appreciated. Thank you!

It was a great tour around the Amsterdam canals. The tour guide was very informative on everything. We felt like the tour was exceptionally pleasant, and we recommend it to people. The tour company went above and beyond-Uber took us to the wrong meeting spot on the canal, so we were not on time to start the tour and somewhat lost. The company called us, found our location on the canal, and picked us up. We missed 15 minutes of the tour, they gave us an extra 15 minutes so we had a full tour. They really did go well beyond our expectation. We pretty much saw all of the canals that are in Amsterdam. I would recommend this tour to anyone-it was a great experience to learn so much about Amsterdam and have a fun afternoon. The people we met on the tour were lovely. The tour guide people were lovely and we were a party of six, we really had a fun time.

We had the privilege of having Erik captain our boat. He was very knowledgeable and funny. We also enjoyed that this is a smaller boat so fewer passengers and the snacks and drinks were great.

Loved this experience! The boat was so nice and the treats were tasty and it added to the experience. Captain Erik was so knowledgeable and funny. It was easy to listen to him as he is very engaging. I would highly recommend this experience. It is a wonderful was to see the city. We also did a walking tour and interesting enough the tours were very different and both worth while.

Our host and sailor Storm was such a great conversationalist. Felt like catching up with an old friend while touring the canals. Also special thanks for keeping our tour - we got a private ride as the other passengers had to cancel. Lots of finger food and drinks!

The captain was very friendly, nice environment, very clean boat, and he had the best balls we tasted while in the Netherlands.

Captain Storm was the perfect kick-off to our Amsterdam adventure. Off the plane and right into his boat, he entertained us for two hours cruising the canals. Lively stories, funny anecdotes, with a little spice on the side. The small group size is also perfect allowing you to interact with the other travelers. This tour is great for your teenagers and up!

Captain Storm was a great captain. We had a lovely and unique nighttime boat ride filled with history and local stories, good snacks, and drinks. Highly recommended if you want to see Amsterdam from the canals.

Mare was the captain on our Saturday tour and she was amazing! She was funny and knowledgeable about the city - she had us all laughing.
We really enjoyed the small group setting, snacks and drinks. The boat was clean and had blankets for us as it was a chilly evening.
We highly recommend this tour!

The tour was beautiful, the weather was lovely and the offered drinks and snacks were perfect for the tour. Captain Storm provided the best balls in all of Amsterdam with exceptional knowledge of the city. Not only did we see amazing things and hear educating stories, Captain Storm is an extremely proud father explaining all of the amazing things Amsterdam has offered him and his family. You get more than a tour you get knowledge of everyday life and some history. I would love to return to this exact tour.

As soon as Stephan greeted us before embarking on the boat, I knew we were off to an excellent start. He was by far the highlight of the entire Canal cruise. He was so welcoming, sincere, a wealth full of knowledge, history and stories about Amsterdam and Netherlands in general. I learned so much from him - he was kind, funny in the conversation he really kept our party engaged in a conversation all the time. Oh, and the canal cruise was excellent too! I highly recommend this for everyone who wants to come and visit Amsterdam. It was the first experience that we had on our first day here and it really set the tone of our trip. Mahalo to Stephen for sharing his Aloha from Amsterdam with us from Hawaii. Marcie

Five stars. Warning: contains honesty.
This is not a canal tour for people who clap when the plane lands. This is a sharp, funny, unapologetically direct ride through Amsterdam with Captain Storm—who is, in fact, exactly what his name implies.
From the first moment, this was clear: no script, no pandering, no soft-focus history narrated like a museum audio guide. Just raw, non-traditional stories delivered with Dutch precision, sailor sarcasm, and the confidence of a man who absolutely does not need your approval.
Our kids (6 and 10) loved it—especially the freedom to sit at the bow while a salty, hilarious sea dog at the helm told stories with zero concern for fragile sensibilities. It felt less like a tour and more like a perfectly written sitcom that just happened to be floating.
Important note for Americans (said with love):
If you’re raising children named Braxtonleigh or Dreffany Margaux Chantilly Jr., this tour may emotionally vaporize you. Captain Storm does not censor reality. He will pop your bubble. Your snowflakes may melt. That’s on you.
Some other passengers appeared to have pre-installed personality inhibitors. Dead fish showed more spark. Captain Storm carried on regardless—unbothered, undefeated, and entertaining us all the way to the end without a hint of desperation or apology.
Normally this is where I complain about overpromising Viator experiences. Not today. This delivered exactly what it promised and then sharpened it with wit.
My wife was pregnant at the time (do the math, time travelers—mazel tov). No “enhancements” were needed. This tour stands entirely on its own.
Now that we’re back in Napoli, our kids are ranking their favorite experiences of the entire trip. Captain Storm and his boat are firmly top three. Easily.
Book this tour if you want something real, funny, slightly dangerous to your comfort zone, and genuinely memorable. Skip it if you prefer your history padded, filtered, and approved by a focus group.
Captain Storm is not for everyone—and that’s precisely why he’s excellent. 🚤🔥

The perfect tour. The boat was covered, warm and had all amenities to make it comfortable. Captain Storm was knowledgeable and witty, providing several recommendations and serving the best balls in Amsterdam!

Phillip was a great tour guide. Traveling with teens who loved it too! Big win for the whole family. It was relaxing and fun and we learned a bit of history along the way. Highly recommend.
Patty_S, Feb 2026
Captain Erik was amazing, we learned so much about Amsterdam and its history. The drinks and snacks were great!
Zena_C, Feb 2026
Stephen our captain and guide was extremely knowledgeable about all things Amsterdam and Europe in general. This is a relaxing way to learn about culture and history. I highly recommend this trip!

What a brilliant trip. Phillipe was amazing, such a knowledgeable and engaging pilot / guide. Learnt so much about Amsterdam and its history. 100% recommend.
Gail_L, Jan 2026
We had a lovely time on the canal tour. Our guide, Stephen was knowledgeable, entertaining and just plain fun. Drinks and snacks were enjoyed by all in our small group of 8. I have no doubt that passengers in the more "corporate" boats that we passed were jealous.
Highly recommend! Would love to have a repeat in the evening to see the lights.
