Like others driven here as museum direct tickets were sold out so I’m rating the viator experience not the museum (it’s great - go if you can!). Bought 2 tickets the day before, nearly double the book-direct cost and received confirmation of the order with a promise the tickets would arrive separately. It implied 24 hours before the time slot (for us 11am) so as this passed I followed up by email, for which to be fair it was very easy to find the contact. I got a quick reply that tickets would arrive later that night. By 11.30pm we still had no tickets and weren’t sure if there was any point travelling to the museum in the morning, I sent another email and didn’t get a response this time but 10 minutes later the tickets arrived. Perhaps it was coincidence but it feels unlikely. I then got a further email at 1.30 am to tell me the ticket time had actually changed to 11.30am, not a big difference or problem for us but another thing to note if you’re on a tight schedule.
Overall we wouldn’t have been able to visit this amazing museum without the Viator offering and were willing to suck up the nearly-double cost for this but the uncertainty and lack of expectation management was unnecessary and time consuming.

Great experience for Van Gogh fans. Educational. Audio tour is go at yout own pace so you can see everything that interests you. Shares very personal letters with his brother and sister in law.

Absolutely unacceptable experience with Aviator tickets for the Van Gogh Museum. We purchased valid tickets in good faith, only to arrive at the venue and be told the tickets had already been used by someone else. This ruined our plans and caused unnecessary stress and embarrassment at the entrance.
There was no resolution offered, despite this clearly being an issue with the ticket provider. They refused to give us a refund. Customers should be able to trust that the tickets they pay for are legitimate and secure.
Very disappointing service and I would strongly advise others to be cautious when booking museum tickets through Aviator. A wasted trip and money lost.

Went very smoothly. Needed last minute museum tickets. Purchased the day before my visit. Super easy. Tickets were emailed to me through a pdf attachment in a Viator email message from the provider.

The 10 am hour was overbooked and crowded. Not pleasant at all. Plus groups of screaming 5 year olds. Not good at all I would not recommend this tour.

One in the museum, we enjoyed the Artwork and audio tour provided.
However, Viator sent an email after we made the purchase but we didn’t receive the tickets. This caused a delay in entering the museum. One of the onsite employees of the museum had to assist and make sure the Viator App was downloaded so the tickets could be accessed. This information was not provided in the letter we received.

You cannot miss this if you are visiting Amsterdam. I am no art connoisseur but this museum gives you an appreciation of the artist and the evolution of his art.
Getting tickets on site is next to impossible and I arrived without a ticket. With no tickets available for the next ten days I turned to Viator and got a the first slot for the next day. Very grateful! (May 2026)

Needs to be booked well in advance. Next door to the Rijks Museum so both can be visited in a day. Audio guide highly recommended.

Expect crowds and to do a lot of walking. But the exhibit of Van Gogh’s works is phenomenal. On a scale of 1-10, I’d give it a 12. Pay the small sum for the Audio guide. It’s available in several languages. The Shops have very nice merchandise, and plenty of things for both children and adults. All the folks who work there are very nice. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained. I highly recommend this experience!!

My husband and are rarely plan in advance so during a last minute trip to Amsterdam, I realized too late that the Van Gogh musuem entrance was sold out for the entirety of our stay. While this option is expensive compared to buying through the museum, it did provide us with the ability to go, as I do not know when or if we will be back, and we wouldn't have been able to go otherwise.
Additionally, they were very communicative when I reached out after receiving a notification from viator saying my tickets were available and were not. The representative from the company partnered with Viator was prompt and the ticket arrived at the exact time they said it would (but went to my spam, so just FYI). The museum allows you to enter earlier than your time slot (for us we could go in 30 mins prior).
The museum was VERY crowded, even for a weekday and not a holiday, with people hovering to listening to their audio tours and take photos, but this is how it is nowadays and with the popularity of the museum.
If you're in a bind and waited too long and this is something on your list, this is a great option.
