It was a great experience. We had the self guided tour which we paid in advance. If you did not you would need to pay for the audio equipment at the museum. The self guided y
Tour was very easy to navigate. It’s crowded but you can’t get lost. We learned a lot about Van Gough life. To see the art collection up and close was amazing! The gift shops are great. Make sure you bring money for souvenirs!

Highly recommend!! A beautiful museum. One note though - we paid extra for the audio guide. Even though we chose to do the extensive audio guide tour, the extra money was not worth the audio guide. Most of what's on the audio guide tour is already written on the walls. There's no need to pay extra for the audio guide tour. Aside from that, the experience was absolutely perfect. We love Van Gogh.

We had a good time and a great idea on a rainy day. You will learn so much about his life and quest to develop a new style painting. You will get an incredibly detailed look at his life and his work. This was the most complete Van Gogh exhibit we have every experienced.

You can bring your own USB-C to aux cable to connect to the audio device if you don’t want to use their headphones. Tour gave excellent context to his life and the inspiration for his paintings. We did the standard tour.

The Van Gogh museum was awesome. It took about 2 hours to do it justice.
Unfortunately the Viator tickets were an issue - they kept saying we would re give an email with our tickets the day before but we never did. Then it said to show the museum our Viator purchase and they would provide the tickets. The museum told us it was a scam.
Ends up the tickets were there but only after you clicked on "Contact Ticket Provider" which is not intuitive.

The tour was great! Very informative and the art was stunning. I did not know I need to download the Viator app to show my ticket. So make sure you do this so you are ready to go.

Do not use Viator, it's messy and complicated. All that's required given the choice of day/time etc. is the ability to print off tickets. This was not provided. Not everyone has a mobile phone.

I’ve been to Van Gogh exhibits before but this one is different. It’s not just about his art but his life. I opted for the audio tour and found it to be very informative.
I’d recommend booking tickets at least a week ahead. It was super crowded but the museum is spacious with lots of sitting room and also several cafes. There are also free lockers available to store bulky bags, etc.

Purchase 2 tickets and Viator sold them to us, charged our card twice and the museum didn’t except because they were sold out. One refund was processed the other was not. We do want a refund.

My tickets never showed up. I got a voucher but it did not convert to ticket when I used the “Get tickets” link in my email. I stayed in Amsterdam an extra day with hotel expenses and walked 2 miles for this and never got in. Viator was unhelpful with the predicament. They refunded my money but I never received any explanation or apology.
The museum strongly dislikes viator because this happens frequently.
