The tour was well done and gives unique and informative info on haunts and haunted places in downtown Charleston. The tour operator is very experienced and has been doing ghost tours for nearly 30 years!
Chris_S, Aug 2026
Knowledgable tour guide, who told great stories and included background, history and additional photos.
Amanda_F, Aug 2026
Mike was super knowledgeable about Charleston history and ghost stories. He also came prepared with water, bug spray and rain ponchos when it started storming. The thunderstorm made for a great background with the thunder and lightening for his ghost stories!
EGallarzo09, Aug 2026
Our guide was a great story teller. The stories were spooky but nothing the 10 year old in our group couldn't handle. Would recommend 10/10

The tour was really great! Kids 12 and 15 enjoyed it as well as myself and my husband. I would recommend this tour to everyone.
Michele_H, Jul 2026
Mike Brown is an excellent storyteller. This is not a scary ghost tour, way more educational. The walk is not hard. Excellent for 18 and above as younger folks may want to move around more. If you like to learn history behind the ghost tales - he is your guy!
Alesha_H, Jul 2026
Mike was very knowledgeable about Charleston and shared great stories with us. He even had pictures to go along with the stories and places we visited. I love the history that goes along with ghost tours.

Stacey_P, Jun 2026
Our family enjoyed the ghost tour! Mike was very knowledgeable and engaging. It was also great to see parts of the city we had never been. Definitely a fun thing to do!
Jim_P, Jun 2026
Mike was an awesome tour guide. His knowledge of the stories based on his own research and experience over 30 years along with his story-telling abilities made this a very "pleasing" experience. We are from Chicago and Mike even threw in a quick story about two dangerous lions that the movie "The Ghost and the Darkness" was based on, snd that their reconstructed bodies were on display at the Chicago Field Museum. Highly recommend this tour!

Heather_M, May 2026
It was wonderful from the moment we walked up to the group Mike greeted us and offered us waters. He was very knowledgeable and kept the group moving and informed. He even answered far more than our share of questions as he helped us in the direction of our car.
Amber_S, May 2026
Eh. Felt like he was promoting his podcast more than telling ghost stories. We were all a bit disappointed. However, we were an easily distracted group.
Response from Host, May 2026
I mention the podcast two times during the tour. Once to explain why I spent the night alone inside the haunted Old City Jail and the second time to point out that a more detailed version of one of the stories is available for free there if you want to hear more about Edgar Allan Poe’s connections to Charleston. That's it. Two sentences over the course of 90 minutes. If you enjoy hearing real ghost stories, learning some creepy history and visiting haunted locations, you won’t find the tour to be boring.
William_B, May 2026
Good, but not great. Lots of informed storytelling, but not a lot of visual support. I’ve done other Charleston ghost tours that were more engaging
Haley_R, May 2026
This is my second time taking this tour. (First time was with coworkers a few years ago. This time, in 2026, I brought my partner!) Mike Brown is a fantastic storyteller, and we had an excellent time.
Hirangi_P, May 2026
Mike Brown is a well-regarded podcaster and researcher who is fantastic for exactly this kind of thing. He does a great tour, describing the history in such a lively way that it feels immediate and alive. You also get some really interesting nuggets of info that he's dug up himself. Strong recommendation from a couple who does multiple ghost tours when we travel and love the history embedded everywhere.
