Wonderful tour! Great way to see the city and get fun history. You could do it several trips and get different routes and more history. Mckenzie our guide was wonderful and so was Moose the horse! So glad there are protections for the horses. A must do in Charleston!

Itinerary

This horse-drawn carriage ride and tour, a journey that travels back in time to the colonial beginnings of Charleston, meets at 14 Anson Street, home of the Old South Carriage Company. Charleston, the oldest and second-largest city in South Carolina, is defined by its cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages and pre-Civil-War-era houses.

As the tour progresses, pass by the old churches, antebellum mansions and lush gardens of Charleston — more than 2.5 miles and 30 blocks of residential real estate. Stop outside historic homes, like the Gov. William Aiken House, the former home of South Carolina Governor William Aiken, Jr. This house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Part of the charm of the tour are the horses that pull the carriage. These are the same kinds of draft horses that worked on American farms in the early 1800s, making this voyage all the more authentic.

Definitely a fun tour through the city. Getting lots of history. Definitely recommended!! The only thing I wish is that they did not have to do a lottery of what location you will get to tour. But no matter what you’re gonna end up somewhere interesting

The horse carriage driver was very knowledgeable on the local history and the tour is very informative and interesting. The ride is very smooth, comfortable, and safe. We missed one ride because we arrived late, so we booked again on the second day. The staff looked our purchase order and told us that they would refund us the money of the missed tour.
