There is a lot more to do than meets the eye. We were there about 3 hours and still missed the barn tour and tractor tour (looked like rain any minute) You can easily spend 4 hours there to take everything in at a leisurely pace. The house tour and talks are perfectly timed to move between activities without being rushed.

Such a wonderful experience. A must see when visiting Charleston. The Gullah presentation was amazing. The Staff on the Plantation were all knowledgeable and friendly. The wagon ride across the Pla station was very informative and interesting.

The house tour was disappointing. Saw three rooms and ushered out the back door. It wasn’t really a functioning plantation home. Was actually built in 1930s. The stable tour was very informative. Enjoyed learning about the history of slavery thru each of the slave dwellings. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained

Absolutely what we wanted to see. Beautiful and informative.
The 30 min tractor ride was super awesome and got to see majority of the goins ons

It was beyond awesome! Very informative, beautiful but also so sad. We’re from the north but obviously have always know about slavery in the south. This plantation brought it to life. There were times I was speechless and other times I just wanted to cry! But it was also very beautiful….the grounds and home. I have a friend who will be traveling down to Charleston in about 3 weeks. I told her she HAS to go here and check it out!

Favorite activity during our Charelston trip. Gardens were awesome and all the presentations were outstanding
Allison_H, May 2026
Beautiful with many presentations and a cafe for lunch. Notice, though, that they don't open until noon on Sundays.

Amazing experience. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Rich history. A worthwhile day. Go early to beat the crowds and the heat!

The grounds are stunning and we absolutely enjoyed walking around and exploring. I was a teenager when The North and South miniseries came out and I loved seeing where it was filmed. The house tour was a little disappointing. I think we walked through three maybe four rooms- so it’s not a whole house tour. But, other than that we had an amazing experience and I would love to go back and walk the grounds some more.

Very nice experience with a lot of educational material. We spent 5.5 hours there and walked the nature trails also

Boone Hall Plantation is well worth a visit.
Take time to explore it, especially the Gullah Presentation.

Awesome! The tours and grounds are spectacular!
The speakers were very knowledgeable in explaining everything and answering questions.
Anita_D, May 2026
very informative, beautiful gardens, but no access to inside home to see how owners lived. They also had people telling the stories of back in the time
Janice_D, May 2026
There was a lot to see at Boone Hall and the insights into plantation life were fascinating. And even though I'd seen photos the oak alley was so much better in reality.
Kimberly_B, May 2026
What a beautiful place to learn History. Enjoyed every bit of the plantation. The caretakers should be proud of their work!

Tour guides were great! Really liked the owners talk and the Gullah talk. The Live Oaks Drive did not disappoint. So beautiful
Alison_B, May 2026
Beautiful property, the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Cafe was priced well and food was great. This tour was not what I expected, very informative. We arrived at 10:30am and began our tour at 11am took us about 3hrs to complete everything.

Beautiful plantation rich in history. I would recommend this! The house tour was so interesting and the tractor tour of the property was amazing

Great experience. Front gate delayed because they had never heard of Viator and the bar code wouldn't register on their reader. Recommend calling ahead to verify that they have your reservation. We held up the line at the front gate for about 5 minutes.

Fun tour, the history is rich. The ride in under the trees was our favorite part. It was just like being in The Notebook.

Boone Hall offers beautiful grounds, starting with the avenue of oaks upon entry to the property. We spent two hours here, and I feel like we could have spent longer because we did not see everything in that time. The house tour is short and not very extensive, but we really enjoyed the tractor tour. A tractor pulls an open air trolley type car around the grounds where you can see the farmland, ponds, and wildlife (we saw a deer, alligators, turtles, and turkeys). It was interesting to hear the history of the land and crops. You won't want to skip this part.
The gardens were very pretty. There were informative talks given by staff, and there were several exhibits in old slave quarters. These exhibits offer insights and history, and it is a lot to take it all in. Worth the visit if you are in town.

Fantastic experience. The guide was very knowledgeable about the home and gave quirky facts. Walking on our own to the space quarters was good as well although a guide would have been better.
Pam_V, Apr 2026
The people giving the talks near the slave homes were excellent, but I was not impressed by anything else. Magnolia Plantation experience was much more impressive.
Margaret_B, Apr 2026
The Gullah Theater and all the presentations along the houses of the enslaved were fantastic and well worth the price of admission. The host of the main house Ed was disappointing however. He seemed more concerned about telling jokes than presenting the subject matter in an appropriately educational manner. Overall it was an interesting place to revisit having been there in 1978 and the changes in programming were much appreciated.
shirlene_y, Apr 2026
This was a great way to learn about both sides of this time in history. I was emotional when I was listening to how the slaves had to endure so much to survive
Gloria_H, Apr 2026
It's worth the visit, learned a lot. Every one was very nice. Place was clean and keep up. Beautiful oak trees!
Monica_D, Apr 2026
Great visit! Enjoyed all the activities and the Butterfly Cafe made nice sandwiches. We would recommend it and come again!
Diane_W, Apr 2026
Beautiful gardens and lovely home. The presenters were very knowledgeable about the history and everything to do with the estate.
Marsha_H, Apr 2026
You only get to see a couple of rooms in mansion.
The gardens are pretty and well manicured
Butterfly cafe had a nice selection and reasonably priced
Grishma_B, Apr 2026
Loved the plantation! However the place where they sit everyone down and do a play needs refurbishment. There were so many flukes and bugs it was hard to relax and pay attention. The beaches were very uncomfortable too to sit for an hr.
