Best experience during our trip! Loved every aspect, starting with the oak canopy entry. The manor home was lovely. The Gullah presentation was exceptional. The tractor ride gave better appreciation of the present day property, along with its history. Lunch at the cafe capped off a wonderful day.

Surprisingly good

nnuuggee, Aug 2026
Surprisingly good tour ...it exceeded my expectations . Charming place with a Grand Entrance I learned a lot about mans inhumanity to humanity . The tranquil and serene atmosphere was perfect. However what it is today is important because for me the serene surroundings could not overcome the constant reminder and evidence of what happened here

Embrace tranquility

Enjoyed having multiple activities to participate in with many museums, a ride and a couple air conditioned places to enter. I think we were there on a record hot day!

Joseph_M, Aug 2026
It’s a beautiful plantation with plenty to do. Take lots of pictures. Take every tour and listen to every lecture. It’s time well spent . The beer they make from their fruit is fantastic. Overall it was a great time.

Facilities are in excellent condition. Docents are knowledgeable and helpful. Appreciated understanding the dynamics of a working farm and the economics involved to make the enterprise work. The oaks grand entryway is amazing.

Beautiful learning experience

Jennifer_G, Aug 2026
It was beautiful and we learned so much. It was a great learning experience for my kids. We do wish we could have learned more about the gulloh, that wasn't long enough (although the location for that talk would have been too hot for longer)

Boone Plantation

Stephanie_R, Aug 2026
Beautiful plantation. On rainy days it can be very muddy d/t gravel-sand roads. Speakers all informative. All in all it was a nice day.

Buy tickets at venue

Melissa_E, Aug 2026
You can buy the tickets cheaper at the venue than through this app. It would have been $81 dollars with AAA discount at the venue vs. $97 on line (this price was with a discount code. Would have been around $110!) for 3 adult tickets.

Incredible history! Boone Hall Plantation is an excellent tour, and we would highly recommend for anyone coming to the Charleston/Mt. Pleasant area of South Carolina!

Gullah Experience is the best !

J_R, Aug 2026
As a black man, the idea of returning to a plantation for tour was not appealing however, the Gullah presentation is what draws me. I did this tour in 2014 and was compelled to return in 2026. It was the same incredible experience giving me many pieces of history centered on preserved and precious black culture I did not know. Viewing the rest of plantation and any other tour was not of interest to me.

We enjoyed Ben. Loved the history. We would definitely come back to experience the other routes. Ben was personable and provided us with suggestions of other areas to visit while in Charleston.

A Must Do in Charleston

Kim_K, Jul 2026
We did this tour on a horribly hot afternoon and still enjoyed it. We saw several presentations including: The Slave Experience, History of the Owners & The Gullah Presentation. The presenters were all extremely informative. We toured the slave quarters, first floor of the main house, and then took a guided trolley tour around the grounds. All of the presenters were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We learned so much about the culture and history. The roadway of huge oak trees as we entered and exited was simply stunning.

Well worth the tour!!!

Kerry_C, Jul 2026
It was an awesome experience and would highly recommend giving yourself plenty of time to enjoy all the exhibits, tours & walking the grounds.

Watch the rain and check for cancellations They do not allow rain checks anymore and attendant at gate has a stern outlook.

An emotional experience

Evelyn_F, Jul 2026
Visiting the plantation was a true experience. Stepping back into history and learning about the Gullah people, the experience of the enslaved people and what type of plantation Boone Hall was was very interesting. As an Afro Puerto Rico I am drawn to the black experience and found it enlightening. Boone hall has beautiful grounds, and a wonderful knowledgeable staff. My favorite was the chat with Ms Glander Presley after the Gullah Geechee experience who shared many historical nuggets with us. It’s a must do experience overall although it does hit an emotional nerve.

Eye opening tour!

Travis_O, Jul 2026
Very educational and informative, my wife and I enjoyed it so much, that if we were to come back to Charleston again, we would definitely revisit it! We truly enjoyed it and the staff were so nice and friendly! I must see!!

Ronald_Y, Jul 2026
There is very little information about the daily lives of those enslaved on the plantation, it is as if slavery happened.

Great experience!

Kim_S, Jul 2026
Beautiful property and wonderful historical information. The volunteers are an amazing wealth of information.
