Join no more than five other students for an introduction to the fundamentals of surfing, including ocean awareness, water safety, riding skills, and proper etiquette. You’re guaranteed to be surfing in one easy lesson, or your next lesson is free. An instructor, surfboard and rash guard are all included.

It was really fun! I recommend everyone do this. It was a 30 min car ride from the port (we were on a cruise) and we had plenty of time. The instructors were very good and we got plenty of time to surf, they also take pictures which was fun to look at after.

We had an absolute blast! The location was perfect- not too deep and lots of small waves perfect for beginners. You don’t have to be a in great shape either. Mike was really friendly, encouraging, and fun. He made it so easy. Jess took amazing pictures as well, really high quality. We’ll never forget this experience and highly recommend!

This was incredibly fun and beginner friendly! I had never surfed before but I got up and was able to surf majority of the waves. My friend and I had a blast! Would have loved to do it 10x times while we were there.

The guides were great at showing how to surf on land first then got into the water. There were 3 guides in the water helping people catch a wave, and had a small line to the side so people could go right to a guide to catch the next wave after the previous person catches the wave. Was able to surf a good amount of waves and had plenty of photos taken by them. Also, you dont need to know how to swim because the bottom of the ocean at the place they are at is not that deep and you can reach the ground with your feet.

Sophy was the best , most patience instructed I never dreamed I would stand up! I am a 62 year old and can swim! The photographer was awesome so now I have proof I did it! It was not on my bucket list but it should have been This is a must do!

Surfing was an incredible experience from start to finish. The instructors gave clear, detailed guidance and made sure we had everything we needed—surf shoes, boards, and rash guards were all provided. The location was easy to find, which made the day even smoother. They even had a photographer on hand capturing some amazing moments, so we could relive the experience afterward.

Had an awesome surf lesson with Ivan and Francisco! They were super helpful, patient, and made everything easy to understand. They kept the vibe fun while still giving great tips that actually helped us improve. Definitely recommend them if you’re looking to catch some waves and have a great time!

We had a great experience with surf shack! Our instructor was Nani who was great - very clear and patient. They provide rash guards and water shoes, which was great bc the cove was quite rocky. We went with our kids ages 12 and 14 and everyone caught multiple waves! This was our second time trying but the kids enjoyed this better than Waikiki. The cove is shallow, water is warm, the waves were gentle and rolling. Each instructor has 4-6 people so everyone had a turn every few minutes. We would definitely come back!

The Surf Shack team (Sophia, Ivan and Mike) were great. Our group all got up on the boards and surfed, many of us for the first time.

Fantastic beginner surf lesson! Directions to the park and finding the group were spot on with pictures send ahead of time to find the right group. Easy check in with lots of helpful staff to get checked in and and ready for the lesson.
Calm waves that were perfect for a beginner. Patient teachers helped the kids (18 and 14) be able to get up on the board and surf! They even had a photographer in the water taking pictures of you wanted to purchase them after the lesson. Overall a great experience.

I was convinced there was no way I would be able to get up on a board, but I did! Our whole crew had a fantastic time. In added bonus is there is a photographer to catch the proof! We are considering going back just to rent the surf gear and going back out on our own! Mahalo!

The area is a little crowded but works fine for first timers. There are family friendly beaches a short walk away for people waiting on those taking the lesson. There are also some shops and food truck area just across the street to keep people occupied or for something to do afterwards.
The lesson was mellow with a quick tutorial and standing up on a wave. Our group was 5 people and we all had multiple chances to try and ride small waves. Everyone in our group was able to stand up and catch a wave.
They have a photographer in the water that will capture some of the attempts and some posed shots. They were available for $40 for one photo or $75 for all of them. I chose the $75 option and got about 20 photos. Totally worth it.
There were all ages trying out their first surf lesson around us so it was a no stress opportunity to try out surfing. The water is pretty shallow when you jump/fall off the board and the provided water shoes are pretty thin so if you have better ones it might be worth it to bring your own, but I'm unsure.

My daughter and I went surfing and for both of us this was easily the most fun thing we did on Maui. I thought that it would take a long time for us to get standing on the board but Francisco was a great teacher we were riding the waves right away. I can see why this outfit gets such high reviews. We can’t wait to get out on surfing again soon
