The fishing was amazing! Captain Jack was helpful and kind. We caught a baby shark and released it back to the ocean! Thank you for the great experience!

Enjoyed the boat ride with the Family. Went to 3 spots and caught a baby hammerhead and the boat caught 10. Wyatt was a terrific help and would definitely do it again!

Turned out we were fishing for baby sharks with baby shark fishing equipment. Most of our time was spent moving from location to location because the baby sharks weren’t interested. The poles were small and the line was tangled badly inside the reels, allowing for just enough length to get the line into the water. One lady in the group actually hooked a shark that was around 2 1/2 feet long. She got it to the surface and her line snapped. Just before our time was up, I got something large on my line that bent the tiny pole almost double and snapped my line as soon as I began to reel. Overall, this may be an enjoyable excursion for young kids but if you’re an adult actually looking to go shark fishing, choose a different company.

I am glad that sharks were caught. We catch a variety of sizes and sometimes lines will snap. The equipment that we use is sized for sharks in the 10 to 25 pound range. We do catch smaller sharks and sometimes bigger sharks than that but that is the size fishing poles we have. If you make the equipment too heavy it won't be fun to reel in the smaller ones. I am glad there were a lot of sharks caught even if only the small ones were biting last night. Thanks for fishing with us.

The captain and Danny were great. We started off not catching anything but we moved a couple of times and started catching sharks.

Lack of help- for a group of 20+ , 1 person is not enough to refill bait and help untangle poles -sat in the same fishing spot for the entire time. 5 out of 20 or so caught something within the first hour or so then nobody for the rest of the trip. Other charters we have been on moved to a different spot if nobody’s catching anything and usually if you’re at the back of the boat , you’re catching something . Not the case for this trip. Boat bathrooms normal size but no soap or sanitizer in sight . After baiting hooks and hand smelling like fish , you would want to clean up a bit but not available on this charter. Did see some dolphins out in the channel. The sharks that were caught were hammer head and black tips. Size 1 foot to 1/2. If you have been on in-shore fishing trips before , you want to look somewhere else.

Thanks for your input. What you don't realize is that the captain is in contact with six other charter boats that are fishing in various places out in the sound where you were fishing. If the other boats are telling him that they aren't getting a bite he is going to stay put, even if you are only catching a few sharks. There are fresh water buckets at various places on the deck to rinse hands, sorry you didn't see them. It can be hard to please everyone on a fishing boat but I am glad sharks were caught, dolphins were seen and everyone had a safe trip.

It was geared towards kids, but still a great experience. We didn’t catch anything, but others did. Good value

Depends on where you end up on the boat you’ll either enjoy the shade or bake for 2 hours. Why they couldn’t turn the boat around to let others have some shade as well, assuming everyone paid the same. Captain was aware as he came out and asked how everyone was doing on hot side of the boat
Response from Host, Jul 2026
When the boat is anchored, it will only sit one way with the current. I'm sorry you were on the sunny side and I wish we could turn the boat but that would require anchoring the boat from the stern and that can't done. Thank you for fishing with us.

Caught fish and the time underway wasn’t too long. The crew was responsive and they continued to provide bait.

Thank you for fishing with Drifter Excursions!

Description and photos do not represent true experience. Multiple photos showed small boat that handles eight people in a semi private experience. True experience is large boat with 20+ people, just dropping fishing lines over side of the boat while anchored.

All of our boats catch the same sharks whether you are on a large one or smaller one. The smaller boats are more expensive than the larger one that is offered on this site. Thank you for fishing with us.

Nice crew especially Jack. Boat anchors near Dufuskie and all 32 people fish for sharks.
Boat stays put for good 2 1/2 hours. So if heat is bad it is brutal. It was 90 plus and no breeze. Only four fish were caught in total. No ones fault about the fish caught or heat!
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Thank you for fishing with us. I wish we could control the temperature and the fish but thanks for understanding that we can't. Hope to have you aboard again.

Our “littles” (3 and 2 years old) have been fascinated by sharks and were so giddy to see a real live one! Awesome experience!
Aaron_K, Jul 2023
The ease of catching sharks. Almost everyone caught at least one shark. It wasn't too far out in the ocean so it kept the drive time down with more time to fish.
