Fabulous floats, unbridled flamboyance, and righteous resistance are staple elements of Pride—wherever you are in the world. And while Pride may have originated in the US as a protest march for equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community, today, it's celebrated with over 200 events worldwide, complete with parades, parties, and more. Plus, if you haven't planned your Pride trip by June, don't worry: Several cities host events throughout the year.

If you're keen to see the best of the best, check out these must-visit cities with travel-worthy Pride events, where everyone can embrace their authentic selves and experience a flurry of fabulousness.

Attend the mother of all Pride celebrations in New York City.

The Big Apple is home to one of the largest Pride festivals in the US. Each year, New York City hosts a jam-packed Pride schedule featuring lectures, rallies, parties, drag shows, and, of course, the iconic Pride march to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots and subsequent gay rights equality march, a response to when police officers raided a Greenwich Village gay bar.

What to look out for in 2025: Onya Nurve, who won Season 17 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, is headlining a drag show at Brooklyn's 3 Dollar Bill on June 19.

2. São Paulo, Brazil

You can expect a lively Pride celebration in São Paulo, the city synonymous with Carnival.

São Paulo’s parade is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest Pride parade in the world, so you can expect brightly colored costumes and flamboyant floats that rival Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival celebrations. The event started in 1997 with only 2,000 people, but now 3–5 million people take to the streets of the LGBTQ+ hot spot every year. Most of the action takes place along Avenida Paulista, but Pride-themed events begin up to a week before in neighborhoods such as Largo de Arouche and Jardin.

What to look out for in 2025: The world’s biggest Pride parade will start on Sunday, June 22, but celebrations take place throughout June.

Affectionately known as the “San Francisco of the East,” LGBTQ+–friendly Taipei hosts one of the largest Pride events in Asia. The celebrations take place in October and are centered in Kali Dagelan Boulevard's Pride Village and the Zhongzheng District, which has more than 25 gay bars and shops.

What to look out for in 2025: Expect to see plenty of toned, topless men at both the parade and the myriad after parties, as well as Pride-themed “Rainbow Markets” selling all manner of weird and wonderful souvenirs.

It’s no wonder that Canada’s cultural capital is home to one of the biggest LGBTQ+ Pride events in the world. Pride Toronto sees celebrations throughout the entire month of June, with diverse, inclusive events ranging from a kick-off bonanza and a Pride-themed pool party to a drag queen ball and marches dedicated to lesbian and trans people.

What to look out for in 2025: The host of this year’s pool party is Lexi Love, a RuPaul’s Drag Race alum, and you can also expect various film screenings, seminars, and more events throughout the weekend.

Of course all-night dancing is on the menu, but that’s just the beginning of Berlin’s Pride celebrations.

As one of Europe’s most LGBTQ+–friendly cities, Berlin naturally goes wild for Pride. Known by locals as Christopher Street Day—named after the street in New York City where the 1969 Stonewall Riots began—Berlin’s celebrations span land, water, and weeks rather than days. Taking place from late June to late July, celebrations meld the city’s love of techno and rave with Pride marches, parties, talks, and community events, with some festivities even happening on the Spree River.

What to look out for in 2025: Berlin's Pride celebrations concludes with a finale rally, featuring lively musical and artistic performances, speeches, and more.

6. Madrid, Spain

Watch the crowning of Mr. Gay Pride in a suitably grand plaza at Madrid’s Pride celebration.

Year after year, Madrid Pride takes the crown when it comes to LGBTQ+ celebrations in Europe—it attracts nearly 2 million visitors annually. Expect costumes featuring plenty of leather and feathers, plus an enormous Pride parade that makes its way along Paseo del Prado in the center of the Spanish capital. The heart of the party is in the LGBTQ+–friendly neighborhood of Chueca, which will have outdoor concerts, street fairs, and more, but you can also follow the crowd of locals to the bars in Malasaña, hailed as Madrid’s most bohemian district.

What to look out for in 2025: The annual Mr. Gay Pride Spain event takes place the evening before Madrid’s all-singing, all-dancing Pride parade on July 5. The competition is held in the grand Plaza de España and features performances from top artists.

Head to the Pacific Northwest for Seattle’s Pride party with a side of activism.

The West Coast does it best, as they say, and there’s no better example of the Emerald City putting on a show than Seattle PrideFest. Throughout the month of June, a host of rooftop parties, activist talks, and art shows take over the city, so be sure to head out on the town to explore the LGBTQ+ art walks, film festivals, and parties.

What to look out for in 2025: The LGBTQ+–friendly Capitol Hill area is the place to be—you’ll find several stages hosting live acts and the street food trucks for which Seattle is famous.

Rest assured that Sydney, the homeland of Kylie Minogue, knows how to throw a Pride party.

The gloriously glamorous Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in Sydney is a massive fest that invites LGBTQ+ people from around the world to go Down Under—it also draws A-list celebrities such as Cher and Kylie Minogue. This long-running event has now joined forces with Sydney WorldPride to present a show-stopping series of events that include the traditional Pride parade—which usually kicks off at Oxford Street—plus pool parties, art and music tours, live performances, and more.

What to look out for in 2025: Sydney WorldPride takes place in February, so if you missed it this year, start planning your trip for 2026.
