Itineraries for Your Trip to Jackson Hole
3 Days in Jackson Hole for First Timers
I can never spend enough time in Jackson Hole. I especially enjoy visiting during different seasons, as the summer offers the chance to get out on the water or hit the hiking trails, while winter brings sledding and other snow sports. You'll find me spending the afternoon walking through the town of Jackson in search of all the over-the-top cowboy gear you can purchase there.
With three days in Jackson Hole, you'll definitely have time to visit nearby Grand Teton National Park or Yellowstone National Park, and you can enjoy leisurely floats on the Snake River. Here's a 3-day Jackson Hole itinerary for first timers packed with many favorite activities.
Summers are warm during the day and cool at night; winters bring lots of snow.
If you only have time for one thing, make it a Grand Teton National Park tour.
Your first day in Jackson Hole should include a day trip to Grand Teton National Park, just a short drive away. Many guided tours include hotel pickup, letting you take in the stunning landscape instead of having to navigate your own way.
With the sun out and the temps creeping up, head down to the Snake River for an afternoon of white-water rafting. You'll get plenty of thrills (and a little bit wet) along the way. It's the best way to see this stunning area of Wyoming, hands down.
Cowboy culture is alive and well in Jackson Hole, so a horseback ride along the river and through the forest is a must when visiting the region. Pause for a group photo with the Tetons in the background; it's the perfect souvenir to remember your time in Jackson Hole.
Later, head to the town square to shop for souvenirs (think giant belt buckles and personalized cowboy hats). A stop at Million Dollar Cowboy Bar is a must; if you're lucky, there will be some live music and the perfect ambiance for dancing.
Slow things down on day three with a guided fishing trip where you'll get to cast your line in search of trout. The fishing guides know all the best spots, and you can work on your patience while enjoying the stunning landscape.
Didn't get enough of Grand Teton on day one? We get it. Sunset offers a different experience, as different animals will be active at night. If you want to try and capture some of the action on film, book a photography tour that will give you all the tips.
