This was an incredible...
This was an incredible experience! We did the Heritage package which included the grist mill and Mayflower. Everyone was so knowledgeable and entertaining to talk to and they clearly enjoyed it as well and were making jokes in character. We learned a lot and had a good time! I especially loved that they were preparing meals. I wish we could have eaten genuine historical samples! The actors really felt genuine and could roll with any questions we asked. The accents and word useage added believability. It took much longer than expected because we enjoyed talking with people so much. It was very interesting to see all the ways people lived and traveled. At the Mayflower they followed specific lives so you could see what they might think and feel. The gift shops were great too! Lots to look at and take home.

Nice Culture walk
Nice immersion of the culture. Uneven surfaces are not suitable for walkers etc. Having real crops growing was impressive. Construction at the Mill blocks the walking path to the Mayfloeer 3.

I do recommend this
Actors seemed disinterested and unenthusiastic. The facility is very well done and when you combine all three experiences it is still a good day

Strive for authenticity
A realistic depiction of early pilgrim and indigenous life in the 1600’s The cafe could expand their menu. Not many healthy choices.

Plimoth Grist Mill
  • Freshly stone-ground grains and sampe (similar to grits) are available for purchase on-site.

  • The original mill burned down in 1837; the reproduction was built on the same site and completed in 1970.

  • A trip to the mill is usually combined with a visit to the living museum, which was formerly known as Plimoth Plantation and was renamed “Plimoth Patuxet” in honor of the Wampanoag Nation who lived in the region.
