Nice immersion of the culture. Uneven surfaces are not suitable for walkers etc. Having real crops growing was impressive. Construction at the Mill blocks the walking path to the Mayfloeer 3.

Thanks for your comment. For those guests who have mobility concerns walking over 17th-century dirt paths, we offer free golf cart service to minimize the walking. At the mill, we are excited to see the construction begin and look forward to improved walkways for our guests from the mill to the Mayflower.

Actors seemed disinterested and unenthusiastic. The facility is very well done and when you combine all three experiences it is still a good day

A realistic depiction of early pilgrim and indigenous life in the 1600’s
The cafe could expand their menu. Not many healthy choices.

Schedule your visit to Plymouth Patuxet Museum in the afternoon, preferably after 2:00 p.m. during the week, from September through november. I was joined by no less than 500 school children between the ages of 8 and 12. Children do not walk and they do not talk- they run and they Screech at the top of their voices. I was a teacher for 35 years, love kids, but felt completely bombarded by so many at once. In fairness to their chaperones, it is hard to contain kids out in the open air, when they are excited about being away from school versus having an educational experience.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
You are correct! If you visit during peak school field trip dates you may experience alot of happy children learning about America's Founding Story. We will include your comment in the ticket information and will remind guest services to offer alternative entrance times and sights to see to avoid school field trips.

Great experience. The people stayed in character which made it more enjoyable. Noreaster gave us a tiny taste of what the pilgrims experienced.

Great experience! Super helpful staff at each location! Very knowledgeable and so informative. Would go back.

We purchased the village and Mayflower combo. Started at the village where very friendly staff greeted us in a beautiful new building. We watched the opening video as suggested and it really helped us to understand what our day was going to be like. The staff throughout the village was outstanding. They answered questions and were friendly. The character actors in period costumes did a great job. Ask them questions to really get the stories told and it’s a great interaction!! Then we went to the waterfront and saw the Plymouth Rock where guides were there to tell its story. Very interesting. You think you know about “the rock” but they have details you’ve forgotten or didn’t even know! The tour of the Mayflower was self guided and very short. The ship was beautiful but so nice it didn’t seem realistic. But still great stories were told. We stopped for lunch and walked around a bit and this whole day was about 5 hours. Well worth the cost. Next time we’ll add in the visit to the Grist Mill.

It was awesome. Every bit of it. We also loved the succotash soup at the village!!
Will definitely come back!!

The walk thru the pilgrim village experience takes about 3 hours. We enjoyed listening to the actors in period costume playing out their roles in the daily lives of the pilgrims. The lunch in their cafe was also very nice. The walk was pleasant and interesting. However, there is very little history actually explained. We would've liked to hear more about Bradford, Standish, etc., and how the town was built, why so many died the first winter, how they managed finding food, etc. We purchased the "heritage" ticket which also gave us access to the Grist mill (very interesting) and the Mayflower replica ship (very interesting), as well as walked by Plymouth Rock. Overall it was a very nice day. Took us 7 hours to do all 3 museums on the tour.

My family of four with two teenage sons visited yesterday. The best part of this museum was the Wampanoag village. The docents were so knowledgeable and shared so many interesting things about the history and life of the tribe. The pilgrim village was ok. The houses all looked the same and there was no information to read. There were four pilgrims there and only one was interested in talking. I tried to draw out two others but they were not interested in talking and seemed bored by my questions, giving short answers. Maybe if you go in with a list of questions and really press them they would be more interactive. Also it is very expensive considering the lack of information available about the village. Luckily we enjoyed the Wampanoag village so much that I am giving it four stars for that part.

Was a beautiful day to walk around and learn about Plymouth. The staff was very nice too. Went there when I was in elementary school. Felt good to be back in old New England.
Jolene_M, Jul 2025
This is not solely history and information about the Pilgrims, this is largely about a native tribe. If you want to know solely about life of the Pilgrims, you will be disappointed.
Jasbir_D, Jul 2025
The Pilgrim village is great to walk thru - at your own pace. The trail of houses is really something. They have real actors which adds to the experience. The Mayflower II is a must to see .
Brooke_M, Jul 2025
Fantastic recreation of the town customs, houses. Great to take a step back in time for a while. Kids even enjoyed learning about how life was like before there were any modern amenities.
Lynn_L, Jun 2025
Free golf cart service is provided which is a blessing for those who struggle walking long distances.
Leslie_F, Jun 2025
Such a fin day! We ran out of time! The docents were amazing, the facility was top notch! Really fun day. We hit traffic so we only had 6 hours, and if you love interacting with the characters and want to see all 3 sites, it may not be enough time!
David_P, Jun 2025
The Mayflower was interesting but the rest was pretty average, with minimal historical information available
Jeanette_W, Apr 2025
Very educational. And a wonderful experience. The reenactment of the lifestyle what's the joy to see. and the people there we're very hospitable.
Kristina_F, Nov 2024
Seeing how they lived. The different houses. Their lifestyle was that of necessity and survival. The kids enjoyed seeing the houses, gardens and people. The Mayflower ll was amazing!
Melanie_R, Nov 2024
We had the full experience here and it was amazing.
The Patuxet museum was beautiful and the staff so knowledgable and friendly. A good few hours spent here walking round it lot a waste.
The grist mill was beautiful and again, such knowledgable staff so happy to answer any questions.
The mayflower was a lovely experience too and so much history in one day made it an absolute bargain of a spend
Chris_M, Nov 2024
Film at the beginning was very informative on history, make sure you see all of it. Ask questions to the dressed up staff - it will add to your experience. Staff was great, food at the Cafe was top notch!
Sasha_M, Oct 2024
We did the Mayflower and the village. Definitely worth it! Super knowledgeable staff and replicas are outstanding! My teen loved it and she doesn’t like “learning” tours:
Sarah_V, Oct 2024
The Village and trails leading to it were great. The actors did a great job portraying our history. If you get there around lunch time they had a Thanksgiving meal available for purchase.
Scott_W, Oct 2024
We enjoyed the activities at Plimoth Patuxet. The favourite part was the pilgrim village where well informed actors took on character of the original pilgrims with interesting views and conversation.
Alison_W, Oct 2024
The houses were interesting and the re-enactors are great. Could have done with a bit more information of who the settlers were and which house they lived in.
Response from Host, Dec 2024
Thank you for leaving this inquiry. We will share with the marketing department to see what we can add to the site map.
Mimi_K, Oct 2024
Especially enjoyed walking thru the village @nd listening to to their stories .
Everyone was friendly.
CarrieO_R, Oct 2024
Visiting Plimoth Patuxet is an experience not to be missed when traveling in the Boston area! The Mayflower and Grist Mill were so very interesting as well, I highly recommend purchasing the ticket that includes all three sites. We were a bit disappointed to discover we could have saved $3 each on our tickets had we waited and bought them on site, that’s not usually the case with Viator.
Genie_V, Oct 2024
The entire trip to Plymouth, was outstanding. The kids in the group especially enjoyed Plimoth Village and the Mayflower, as did the adults. Very well done!
Kris_L, Oct 2024
Loved opportunity to interact with all "characters". All incredibly talented and created such depth in learning experience.
Paul_H, Oct 2024
Informative history lesson, well presented. Would recommend to other people.
