Great experience
Very fascinating. Wish there had been more. It took less time to go through than I thought. I would definitely go again.

it was interesting to see some of these methods are still used today
The audio guide was great. Very cool at your own pace tour.. my daughter, and I had the best time strolling through discussing time periods between the Renaissance and medieval periods. I’m grateful most of these methods are not used today.!

It is self-propelled with...
It is self-propelled with a phone app that gives you the information for each display. It is really fascinating, though not small children friendly.

It’s awesome but gruesome , a lot of educational content , I would recommend it I don’t think it’s for kids under 12 years

One of a kind museum that lives up to its name
Very graphic and interesting exhibits that really transport you back to the time period. There's a great atmosphere in the building with low lights and candles that add to the ambiance. The hosts are also very friendly and make the place memorable.

We liked the torture...
We liked the torture museum. We intended to do the ghost part of the torture museum but we decided no to do that part.. Wasn't sure what the tiny art gallery was, it really is tiny art and it was enjoyable, don't skip it!

Pleasantly Surprised
I wasn't sure what to expect. I honestly enjoyed the experience. I was a little disappointed with the ghost haunt, but the miniature art gallery more than made up for it.

Incredible. Unthinkable. Fascinating.
We enjoyed the self-guided audio tour very much. Just enough detail about each display. We then were fascinated by the miniature art display.

Medieval history and torture in one spot
The medieval torture museum was well done. The rooms were easy to navigate and not overly cramped with artifacts. The employee who checked us in asked if I knew the museum was for people 18 and over due to the subject matter. I had my teen with me. I told the employee that I knew the content from their site. However, this is also part of history that my teen needs to know about. He then informed me there is a section on female sexual torture. I said we can skip that area. He told me where that area is located and we just bypassed it. The audio guide was a nice touch. The narrator's voice gave a haunted house vibe.
There were a couple of interactive displays which was a pleasant surprise.
The museum is not for young kids.
The other thing to be aware of if you have never been to St Augustine the downtown area as very limited parking. There is no on site parking at the museum. St. George street is a walking promenade not a car driving road. You either have to park on the main road at a meter or park in the public parking deck. Meter parking is also very limited. All of this is beyond any shop/event owners control.
The museum is not a giant museum. I think it is about 4,000 sq feet. It takes about an hour to an hour and a half to get through depending on the size of your party. If you are into all things medieval then this museum is a perfect place to visit.
