Great Tour of Berlin

Our guide in Berlin, Scott, was fabulous. He was very knowledgeable without being too academic. He was genuinely interested in his subject but he was equally as interested in the people in his tour group. He took the time to get to know people to ensure they got as much as they wanted from the experience. Our only problem was the check in process. We arrived very early to the meeting point, checked out. Names off with a female staffer and was told our bus was late. When it arrived we got on. Apparently we had not been marked off. However I do appreciate the effort Viator did make to contact us. The problem was we did not have wifi so we did not get any of the messages till later. We did have a great day and loved the sights we saw in Berlin. I had no concerns about not being returned to our cruise ship on time. I would highly recommend this tour.

This is a compact tour of one of the concentration camps during WWII... about an hour north of Berlin. It is well-run, the bus is very comfortable, and our guide, Emma, was amazing in her knowledge and led our group like she knew what she was doing! SHE made this a great tour. If you want to dive deeper into this memorial, you would need more time here... but this is exactly what we desired.

We have been on many tours while living in Germany, and our kids (ages 11 & 13) agreed that this was one of the best. Julia made history accessible- peppering in interesting human stories with facts. She was animated, but also somber and reflective. She answered all guest questions and was able to speak loudly enough to be heard in urban environments. It was a great first day in Berlin.

Great trip

I had thought of making my own way to Sanssouci but decided to take this trip as everything was organised for a visitor. It was long enough to get a sense of the opulence of Frederick’s summer retreat. Yasmin was a helpful and knowledge guide giving us lots of information about Berlin’s history as we made our way to and back from the palace. We also stopped at the Bridge of Spies on the way. We had audio guides for the palace then got an overview of the gardens and vineyards with Yasmin. I thought it was long enough to see everything and good value and would defiantly recommend it.

The tour begins at the iconic Brandenburg Gate, perhaps Berlin's most recognizable landmark and the ultimate symbol of German reunification. Standing beneath the famous gate is the perfect place to start understanding Berlin's history. Just a short walk away is the Reichstag Building, home of the German Parliament. Here you'll hear stories spanning more than a century of German history, from the Reichstag Fire of 1933 to the rebuilding of German democracy after World War II. The route then takes you through the beautiful Tiergarten to the Soviet War Memorial Tiergarten, where actual Soviet tanks and artillery from World War II provide a powerful reminder of the Battle of Berlin. Passing the famous Victory Column adds another layer of Berlin's military and imperial history. One of the most moving stops is the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Walking through the vast field of concrete stelae creates a powerful and reflective experience that helps visitors understand the scale and impact of the Holocaust. So much knowledge.

An absolute knowledge filled day. Walid crams as much knowledge in as he can and it’s well worth it. The whole experience is much better when off the bus and in the English speaking group. The Spanish group tended to not be quiet while Walid was speaking on the bus, so that puts a damper on things a bit. Overall a pleasant tour though.

We had a wonderful Berlin tour today with our guide Daniel and our very skillful driver. Daniel gave us one of the best experiences of our trip — he was professional, responsible, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about Berlin’s history. What made the tour extra special was how he brought along his own binders/books filled with articles and old photos of Berlin, then showed them to us right at each historical site. It helped us truly understand how things looked and felt in the old days. Our driver was also excellent — very skillful, careful, and smooth throughout the day. We visited Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp and all the major Berlin landmarks, and at every stop he provided very detailed explanations, including historical context, exact names, locations, and dates. His knowledge of Berlin’s history is deep and precise, and he presents it in a clear, engaging way. He made sure we were comfortable, answered all questions thoroughly, and adjusted the pace naturally without ever making us feel rushed.
