Overview

There’s hardly a better place to learn to surf than the Southern California locale of Ventura, which offers fantastic weather year-round. During this 1.5-hour private lesson, an expert instructor shows you how to stand up on your surfboard and balance, offering tips on how to catch the perfect wave while ensuring your safety in the water. Wetsuit and surfboard rental are included, and all skill levels are welcome.

We're 5-10 minutes from Ventura; 25-30 minutes from Santa Barbara. We'll send you detailed instructions after you book to help you find us at Mondos Beach as it can be busy. You'll be meeting your instructor at our van or box truck; both say Santa Barbara Surf School. Please call with questions

What To Expect

At your selected time, meet at Ventura’s Mondo Beach. Put on your provided wetsuit and stand by your surfboard on the sand while your expert instructor details how to stand up on your soft and stable board — perfect for beginners.

You’ll have plenty of time to practice your stance and learn how to paddle out to the surf before heading into the water. Lie on your board with your instructor at your side to assist you in catching the best waves. The 1.5-hour lesson is suitable for all skill levels, and your instructor will ensure your safety and enjoyment as you build your confidence and practice — even if you’re not yet ready to ‘hang ten.’

Check out the gorgeous coastline while you float or jump up on your board to ride the waves. You’ll have plenty of time to test your newfound surf skills before returning to shore.

Great Surfing Lessons at Mondos

Our kids really enjoyed the surf lessons they had at at Mondos. The two instructors Carson and Paige did a great job keeping it fun and challenging. We will definitely use Santa Barbara Surf School again and would recommend them to our friends. Thanks for the fun!

We had a great surf lesson from Ally! She found the perfect spot for our lesson. Her instructions were calm and thorough. Surfing was one of the highlights of our trip. I would definitely do it again when I return to the area.
