    Impactful experience

I've been intrigued by kintsugi since I learnt about it, so I was thrilled to finally experience it for myself. We had a wonderful instructor who spoke fluent English and gave us a fascinating introduction to the history and philosophy of kintsugi—the art of finding beauty in imperfection. He then guided us through the entire process using recycled ceramic pieces, explaining that this approach is much more sustainable than workshops that intentionally break intact pottery just to glue it back together. I really appreciated the emphasis on both the tradition and the environmental aspect of the craft. At the end, we each created a unique keepsake, such as a refrigerator magnet, ring, or hair accessory, and it was so nice to leave with something we had made ourselves. One tip: think ahead about the type of item you'd like to create and choose a design that uses no more than seven ceramic pieces. It's a bit of pressure to complete it in just an hour - luckily, he gave us some extra time (15 minutes) because they didn’t have any additional guests. I highly recommend this workshop for anyone interested in Japanese art, craftsmanship, or sustainable creative experiences.

    Great quick activity!

Fun easy workshop! Great guide & fun pieces to work with. Leave with one piece - a ring, magnet, hair tie, or chopstick holder.

So much fun! A great intro to Kintsugi!

So much fun! We had great chats about the art, but importantly about everything else culture. Great exchange and learned a lot! It was the perfect wabi sabi activity in a time of life I needed it most ♥️

A Joy to work with the group!

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful time at the Tokyo Kintsugi Accessory Making Workshop in Shibuya. This was one of the most unique and memorable experiences of our trip to Japan. The instructors were welcoming, patient, and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain the history and philosophy behind Kintsugi—the beautiful art of embracing imperfections and finding beauty in repair. Their guidance made the process enjoyable and easy to follow, even for complete beginners. The workshop was hands-on, creative, and relaxing. We loved being able to design and create our own accessories while learning about a traditional Japanese art form. The materials were high quality, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. What made the experience especially meaningful was sharing it together as a couple. Creating something with our own hands and taking home a unique piece that we made ourselves gave us a special souvenir and lasting memory of our time in Tokyo. If you’re looking for an authentic cultural experience beyond the typical tourist attractions, I highly recommend this workshop. It’s a perfect activity for couples, families, or anyone interested in Japanese culture and craftsmanship. Thank you to the entire team for such a fantastic experience!
