We were scheduled to...

MARYA_D, Nov 2024
We were scheduled to board between 8:30 to 8:50 am. I checked my phone at 7:30am and no messages. We got to the meeting place and waited. I looked at my text messages again and found a message had come in at 7:58 announcing there would be no tour. I think the announcement should have been made sooner that the tour was cancelled.

We understand your frustration and disappointment regarding the last-minute cancellation of your "Trees of Many Colors Tour" and finding out so close to your scheduled departure time. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused, especially when you arrived at the meeting point expecting to join the tour. We aim to notify guests of any changes as soon as possible. In this instance, a group cancellation very close to the tour's departure time (around 7:45 AM, leaving only two passengers for a scheduled five-hour tour) necessitated the unfortunate decision to cancel the tour. It's never ideal to cancel, as we want every guest to have their planned experience. We recognize that receiving a cancellation notice at 7:58 AM for a tour scheduled for later that morning, and then arriving to an empty meeting point, is incredibly frustrating. While our tours typically depart at 9:00 AM, we understand that guests often arrive earlier to check in and prepare. We truly regret that this situation disrupted your plans. We appreciate your feedback as it highlights the importance of timely communication, even when unexpected circumstances arise.

Don't miss this wonderful tour!!!

Excellent Tour! Bus driver/guide was a local, so... very, very knowledgeable about the area. Smart and funny :) Had great family history stories to share. Taught us a lot about the 40 different trees in the Smoky Mountains. Took us to the best spots with awesome views of the colorful Fall Foliage. Wonderful day having someone else driving so we could take in all of the gorgeous Smoky Mountains scenery.

Fun tour in the Smokies

Vicki_R, Nov 2022
We loved seeing the views of the Smokies and listening to Dustin share cultural and historical information about the area. His sense of humor was quite entertaining. The tour started promptly, and everything was as advertised except that the leaves’ colors had peaked several days prior. However, that was Mother Nature’s call and did not at all detract from our experiencing the natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains and learning lots of background about the area. Lunch at Elvira’s was excellent! This tour was a worthy investment of our time and money.

Our guide Dustin was very interesting. He has deep family roots in the area and I loved listening to his many stories. Even though leaves were past their peak we saw many new things and lunch was delicious. Thank you Dustin for making our tour something we will remember. You were great! 😊

The best is sitting next to hubby, who doesn't have to drive. Leaf colors were great. Dustin keeps you entertained. Elvira's lunch very good, will go back. Definitely book another tour.

Views were pretty. Seemed like a lot was doubled up on. And lunch took a long time which got us back quite a bit later than expected.

Response from Host, Oct 2022

Before departing I called to tell the restaurant that we were coming told them how many and what time to expect us. That's all I can do on that, we have no control on how quickly they serve customers or what order they seat guests. You are welcome to write them a review if you wish to complain about the wait but I have no control over that at all. The route we took was a figure 8 pattern so the only area viewed twice was coming off the mountain for about 6 miles the rest was totally different. We left from Pigeon Forge went down the spur over the bypass to Rockefeller memorial. From there we went back down turned onto little river rd up into Elkmont over to Metcalf bottoms into Wears Valley had lunch then over the Foothills Parkway into Walland then Townsend then back to Pigeon Forge. There was a stretch of Wears Valley road we were on twice that was about 1.5 mile long. Only about 7.5 miles of the 180 mile drive was overlapping. We did get back later than expected but I felt it would have been unfair to you all to cut the tour short simply because lunch at Hillbillies was slow. I asked everyone if they needed to be back at 2 and everyone said no so I decided to give the full tour which caused us to go over by an hour or so. I had a great time with the group. You all were wonderful and asked good questions. It was very neat to learn a bit about your home as well so thank you for answering my questions. I hope you come see us again on your next visit, just don't book on a Monday, Elvira's isn't open on Mondays.

Garrett was an excellent guide. So knowledgeable about the history of the area. Leaves were beautiful. Well worth your time. Would suggest booking it early in your trip so that you can go back by car to many of the places Garrett shows you

Curt P, Oct 2017
It was our fault for booking this tour too early in the fall. To put a point on it there were no fall colors to be seen on the Trees of many colors tour. Our guide was very helpful and did everything that he could to make the tour enjoyable but it just fell flat when there were no colors to be seen.
