Please meet your tour guide **INSIDE** the Hyatt Regency Hotel at 1209 L Street in Sacramento. Your tour guide will be waiting INSIDE the hotel lobby right outside the entrance to Hyatt Regency's 1819 bar (directly across from public restrooms) It is towards the right after entering the hotel's front entrance. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the tour start time. Public parking is available at the Hyatt Regency on 12th Street and L Street (entrance on 12th Street). It is the more expensive parking option but also the most convenient due to its proximity to the tour's starting location. If you don't mind walking a couple of blocks, we recommend parking at the public garage on the corner of J Street and 10th Street on Saturdays. Fee is $5.00 all day. Hyatt Regency Parking $5.25 1st hour $1.75 each additional 1/2 hour $20 maximum Capitol Garage: Weekday Rates (6 a.m. to 5 p.m.) $1.50 each half hour $18.00 daily maximum charge 10th & J Street: Weekend Rates - Saturday $5.00 daily maximum charge all day #Meeting Address 1209 L Street, Sacramento, CA, 95814

Great summary of the history art, architecture and people who shaped Sacramento with stops at quite a few wonderful restaurants. The food was excellent and plentiful and Dawni our guide was a true fount of information. We all thoroughly enjoyed it!!

Weather. It was a perfect day for this tour yesterday. The weather was perfect. Our tour guide was great. Very knowledgeable. I live 45 min from sac but Im glad I booked because I learned a lot about the city and found a few restaurants that I would have never known were there..

My wife and I absolutely enjoyed every bit of the tour downtown - Dawnie was an amazing guide and had a wealth of very interesting knowledge about Sacramento including its history, its art scene, and also a ton of local events and things to do. I know it's a food tour, but I had to mention Dawnie first since she made the whole experience so enjoyable!
As for the food, everything was sooo good, and we had very sizable portions, so expect to be very full upon completion of the tour. I don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone, so I won't mention specific items or locations, but we encountered a coffee shop, a diner/cafe, a Mexican restaurant, an American restaurant (with Michelin plate designation), and a bar/dessert cafe. The food was varied in flavor and selection, and my wife and I both appreciated getting to try diverse items we wouldn't normally order as we found some things that we are definitely going back for.
We couldn't have asked for a better experience and will be booking the additional tours for midtown, sutter district, and R street in the future. Thanks Dawnie!

We had a fantastic time on this 3-hour Food Tour! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and shared a lot about the local culture. She also had great conversations with us as a couple, making the experience feel very personal and enjoyable. The food was perfectly arranged, with each dish offering something new and delicious. We went on a three week "tour" of the Pacific Northwest, which included the Sacramento area. This food tour is one of the highlights we experienced.
We have always enjoyed food walking tours while on vacation for the history and local foods showcased and have probably been on more than a dozen. By far, this was the best food tour we've experienced!
Dawnie is so in love with the Sacramento food scene that she bubbles over and cannot contain herself in sharing that love with others. The food at every stop was delectable and unique. Her knowledge of Sacramento and its history only made it better. One cannot go wrong in booking this tour!
P.S. If system would allow, I'd rate this a 10-star vs. a 5-star! ;)

Absolutely fantastic Sac food and historical & arts tour with Dawnie who is just phenomenal!! We were spouting off fun facts about Sac for days afterwards and now have the knowledge and insider scoop on places to check out for fun and good food! Dawnie was knowledgeable and inclusive of all the guests on this trip, we had plenty of time to ask questions, enjoy the food and surroundings and there were always great stories and all around great time. Nice walk. Great guide. Knowledgeable and entertaining.
The food was ok. Bread for the avocado toast was soggy.
Other than that something you should do. She gave us recommendations for places to visit after. Knows the food seen of Sacramento like the palm of her hand.

Such a fun experience! My friend and I who attended this tour live in the 209 and have been to Sacramento many times. But being able to do a food tour for the 1st time in Sac and learn things about Sac we never knew PLUS try some really good food spots we've never been to before. Definitely worth doing this tour!

I am in Sacramento visiting my adult son who moved here three months ago. We were originally scheduled for the downtown tour but that changed to the mid town food and arts tour. We were not disappointed! The tour was fun and informative. We both learned much about Sacramento and the mural art in midtown. Dawnie was an amazing guide-personable, fun and very interesting. She clearly loves this city and the food and arts scene that is thriving here! The food we tasted a a variety of restaurants was wonderful. I highly recommend this tour!

I've been on food tours before and this was was pretty underwhelming for a few reasons. The first stop was not a stop at all--the guide brought donuts and coffee from a place we didn't visit and we ate them out front of a hotel...OK...
The next stop we were served a lox and cream cheese--filled with ingredients lots of people don't actually care for (onions, cold smoked fish, cream cheese) and a cocktail many people don't like (blood mary). These were such strange choices--people may not have food allergies, but this dish/drink are acquired tastes that at least 50% of people I know (including half of my party) don't like. They also have nothing to do with Sacramento (neither bagels nor fish nor the cocktail are local or inherent to Sacramento in any way). It seems like this is what I would get on an NYC food tour. The deli/building we visited was very cool, I will give it that.
The next stop was also a bit bizarre however--a fast food restaurant (that was formerly a Sacramento food truck, so at least some local connection) that served Nashville style fried chicken. It was good--but what was the point of this? Again, extraordinarily thin connection to Sac. I have been to Nashville. I have eaten fried chicken there. I am in Sacramento now.
The last stop took us to a local restaurant that served us a poblano pepper soup (and a side of a cooked pepper with onions--again, food many people don't eat). Here we learned they roasted the local peppers outside the restaurant to make this soup--which was great. Finally something that belonged on a food tour.
And the backdrop of all of this was a trip down K Street, a desolate stretch of avenue filled with boarded up businesses and large numbers of homeless folks. This is the street you choose to do the food tour?
The guide was super nice and friendly, but this event was not worth the money for us. We didn't like the food. We thought the street we spent most of our time on to lack scenery and was very run down. And we didn't taste much cuisine native to Sacramento or celebrating the agriculture of the Central Valley which Sacto is sort known as the "headquarters" of.
Pass on this.

Who knew I needed this!
Dawnie is personable, knowledgeable, and fun.
She is detail oriented so she can easily accommodate your dietary restrictions. I learnt so much about the capital. The food was great and nicely paced out while we took a stroll in Downtown Sacramento. The businesses use local farm to fork venders which makes everything fresh and seasonal.
The added touch was Dawnie personalized her messages with Depeche Mode song titles. We told her we were in town for their concert.

My group and I had a great time on our tour. Donnie was a great host and guide. We learned a lot about the local culture and murals around town, and got to discover and eat at places that we normally wouldn’t have gone to. The food was delicious. We will definitely be going back to some of the restaurants we visited during the tour, to try some other dishes.
