Absolutely amazing! So glad we did this, as I’ll admit I was a bit dubious! Our guide Adrian was absolutely fantastic! He was so good with all of our group, making sure we were all water tight and the equipment fit well. He was attentive through out, making sure everyone was okay. I would highly recommend this trip, especially with Artic Adventures. Everything was great from pickup to drop off. Such a wonderful experience and the whole team were great!

Iliana did a wonderful job making everyone comfortable with the equipment and the water! While definitely tourist adventure, totally glad I did it. The photos do not do the visibility justice. It’s beautiful. Oh. And giving customers free GoPro photos via Google Drive is super appreciated.

Bus pickup was over an hour late for collection. However, Will and Jenny were friendly and helpful whilst we were snorkelling. We would recommend this activity7

This was brilliant, a really unique experience. I was really worried about the temperature but it was ok. The staff are very attentive and Greta our driver was great!

Loved the experience but hated getting the dry suit on! It cannot be put on with gloves or mittens so your hands are frozen by the end of getting the dry suit on. The dry suit itself is frozen and difficult to pull up. Once you’re in the water, you actually feel warmer. It’s an experience like no other, to be floating between two tectonic plates! Our guide Marcin (funny guy) was always checking up on each and every one of us. At the end, I got a leg cramp and he helped me get to the exit dock. I highly recommend this tour but be sure to wear double thermals and double wool socks. I wish I had those little hand warmers and foot warmers for afterwards.

Such an amazing experience. Adrian did a great job helping us with our gear and guiding us through. Hands were a little cold but sooo worth it!!

Amazing experience our instructor was excellent and patient
Highly recommended
Although not planning to go back to Iceland but if I did I’ll do this again

Haven’t done anything like that before, the water was clear and beautiful. It was definitely cold, but with the dry suit it wasn’t bad at all. Our guide, Carol, was great!

This was my favorite experience so far in Iceland — a must-do if you can manage! The drysuit is cumbersome, but it’s very buoyant and easy to swim in. You’ll have to be a bit patient with getting set up, but it’s well worth it! The fissure looks exactly like the pictures. Mickey was the best, and I loved our girl group. A lot of reviews mention the water temperature: Brace for the worst, but I promise it’s really not that bad. The tour drew a great mix of solo travelers, as well. Our bus for pickup was running a little late as some people were no-shows, but it sounded like the company was very communicative with the impacted passengers, and the snorkeling timing still worked out really well.

The water was cold. But the views were spectacular! A must do activity if you are in Iceland. No where else in the world can you get these kinds of views. The guides were awesome! Great job Carol.

Efficient garbing (thermal bodysuit + wetsuit + accoutrements) of large numbers of people signed up for the same experience. Additional clarity around that process may have improved the processing and understanding of what we should be doing. Marcello the guide was spectacular! His knowledge of the area, all things water and landscape while helping us get dressed and into the water was very reassuring. He led us through the fissure, took pictures and did it gracefully and professionally.

You spend about an hour getting into a dry suit. The instructions are endless. You can’t really move and you stand around waiting forever. We basically survived this excursion. There was nothing awe inspiring here. You float down a freezing river with burning, frozen hands and end up in a lagoon. The only purpose is to say you have done it. Would not recommend. It is exhausting to he the dry suit on and off and rather pointless
Anna_H, Jul 2025
Very Negative experience!!! The company is greedy and inconsiderate. Do not recommend. Choose another company.

It was a great experience! Our guide Pedro was very helpful. We highly recommend this tour for everyone!

Amazing experience! Friendly tour guides. Worth every penny! Lots of photos taken throughout and an amazing opportunity.

The activity is fully prepared with all the equipment and skilled staff. Everyone was very helpful and it was a great time. There wasn’t a rush and we weren’t treated like cattle. The experience was well managed and worth it. But be ready for a long day. Our total time was 6 hrs.

It was a grand experience that cannot be experienced elsewhere. Chris was an absolutely fantastic guide. He made us feel so very comfortable in what could have been a frightening experience. I am so very happy I took part in this snorkeling adventure. I’d recommend to anyone.

I thought Francesca was excellent, she was calm and helpful throughout the whole process. I was apprehensive going into this but tried to have a positive vibe and she was able to make me feel relaxed and I really enjoyed the time there. Once in a lifetime event

Crystal Clearwater and the professionalism of the guides. Thank you very much. We will do this again the next time we’re in Iceland. John.

The experience itself was remarkable. I was disappointed in the photos I received, I was very far away and you could essentially not tell it was me and did not show the beauty of the snorkel. Was disappointed not to leave with a better keepsake of the experience.

Magic experience, the tour guides were brilliant. As for the snorkelling.. Wow it was amazing. Snorkelling in the Silfra is a must when visiting Iceland.

Really cool tour. My wife was very nervous about the suit due to the tightness around the neck but she did amazing and was so glad she pushed through her anxiety over it. The views are great and the colors were amazing. Franchesco our guide was great. We had a lot of good laughs throughout the tour. Great guy!

The experience was once in a lifetime. It was nice. The staffs were super nice and helpful. I think the staffs were the best part of the experience. I wished they had a place where you can change indoors especially after taking off your shoes and stepping on the snow with just socks on. Changing in negative degrees is super duper cold. Like my brain cells and muscles stopped working already while changing.
The swim was nice. It was relaxing. It was still cold but tolerable I guess. There was not much to see underneath but knowing it is a tectonic plate was something worth seeing. The cathedral, bahamas of Iceland were beauties in the eyes. There was a dark hole by the exit which honestly scared me so much but I took a peek at it and I felt brave swimming beside it. It felt like it was gonna suction me. Overall, the experience was nice but you have to brave the cold. I did it during winter so it was -7 on the outside and the water was 2 degrees Celsius when we swam. It was mad cold. I am feeling cold just thinking about it now. Lol but I had fun. It was an experience which will serve as one of my bragging rights. Lol

Very cold and some waiting around to get the gear on but once your in and you look down under the water it’s incredible
Victoria_H, Nov 2023
An excellent experience. It doesn't matter what time of year you do it, you have that many layer you won't get particularly cold. Getting dressed did take a long time but it was totally worth it. The swim itself was very tranquil! Highly recommended.
Anthony_M, Nov 2023
The 20 minute snorkeling element of the trip was amazing. Swimming in crystal clear water between the tectonic plates is a unique event and the photos taken by our guide were great, but there is an awful lot of waiting about (barely dressed) in the cold whilst everybody gets kitted out.
Initially, we were asked to remove most of our outer garments in the minibus to speed up the preparation process, and although we were split into groups of 6 with a very good safety diver/guide, there were almost 30 people participating in total and as there are no covered changing facilities (completely understandable due to National Park rules) we were exposed to the elements for a long time.
Fortunately the weather was dry, but it was still very cold and windy for the hour or so it took us all to get kitted up and briefed.
Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience - but given the (obvious) mountain location and logistical issue of getting novices of all shapes and sizes suited up I think the experience would be improved if the groups/parties were smaller or at least staggered to reduce waiting around.
Louisa_I, Nov 2023
This trip was poorly organised from the very start when the pick up bus arrived late. I few points should be made clear before booking this experience like bringing thin under layers which will act as a base under the dry suit. Also there are hight restrictions which were not clear at all when a booked. The dry suits are massive so anyone under 5ft will struggle to find a dry suit that fits them properly. My dry suit was massive so i did struggle with the snorkelling when i finally entered the water after lots of waiting around. The instructor Fede was helpful at first but after a while she left me to fend for myself even though i was clearly struggling. As a small group of six i would have thought she would have stayed with the group while we snorkelled, She just left as. To sum up the experience involved a lot of effort putting on a dry suit is not easy. You are in the water for a maximum 30 mins and all you see is colourful rocks.
Cynthia_O, Oct 2023
Great experience. Not as cold as expected. Thermal and dry suits keep you comfortable. Guide was experienced diver and very helpful in and out of water.
Gillian_M, Sep 2023
thoroughly enjoyed the experience. in the water for approx 30mins total. The sry suit did work for us but someone was soaking when they came out so take a towel!
The masks were a bit steamed up but we were told how to clear it
Sheralynn, Sep 2023
Where else can you snorkel in 36 degree water in between the tectonic plates? After a short ride out of Reykjavik, you arrive at the national park and the tour guides dress you in your dry suit/equipment and explain everything thoroughly. I was nervous of the cold, but my body stayed warm. The guides were all nice and patient. I loved being in the small group tour as the guides had a chance to speak to everyone and put you at ease. The photos were excellent and the hot chocolate tasty.
