- Have read, signed, and followed directions on the Snorkeling Silfra Medical Statement Form you can see here: https://troll.is/medical/ . You can sign the form at the meeting location.
- Be comfortable in water and be able to swim.
- Communicate in English at the time of the tour.
- Be physically fit.
- Not be pregnant.
- You must be ready to wear a tight and constricting dry suit to protect your body from the cold.
- You must be a minimum of 150 cm and a maximum of 200 cm in height and weigh between 45 and 120 kilos along with being physically fit.
- - You must be a maximum of 69 years of age to participate in this tour. If you are over 60 years of age, you need a medical waiver, available on page 2 of the Medical Statement.
- You must be a minimum of 12 years of age to participate in this tour. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian booked on the same tour.
- Not recommended for pregnant travelers
- If you are over 45 and partake/have partaken in pipe smoking or heavy alcohol intake, you need a medical waiver.
- No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
- Please note that should you have any neurological, circulatory or respiratory problems or underlying diseases, battled any illnesses or have any physical problems you might have to turn in a physicians allowance to participate in this tour.
- Most travelers can participate
- Please contact us regarding pick up. There are some hotels where buses are not allowed to drive. You can find information about designated pick up locations at busstop.is or ask the front desk of your hotel. Pick up from Keflavík airport or outside of the greater capital area is not available.

10000/10 experience absolutely must do!!! Max was our tour guide for most of the day and was fabulous and Abbie was our instructor for the snorkel section. Max was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the environment and history of all of the places we got to see and even let us stop to see the ponies!! Abbie took amazing pictures and made sure we all felt safe and comfortable prior to getting in the water. Such a unique amazing experience and could not say enough great things!!!

This was a great small bus tour. The guide (Bjorn) was local and he entertained us with stories, and educated us about Iceland. He was great! We started off going to the waterfall. We had some time to get out of the bus and wonder around in the gift shop and 2 viewing areas. It was incredible! Next we stopped on the side of the road to see some Icelandic horses that were up against the fence and we got to pet them. Then we saw the geyser and stopped across the street for lunch. It was a perfect grab and go lunch that we could take along in the car. After that we went to go snorkel. It was cold, but not unbearable with the dry suit. We were in the water for around 40 mins I believe. It was so clear and beautiful. The guide is with you and helping every step of the way. They take lots of pictures of you and the scenery underwater, which you can easily download online from a link the next day. You also get some hot coca to help you warm up afterwards. The guides were great. They were incredibly experienced and hilarious! We had Kevin and he was a riot, we loved him! He made it an extra fun experience. Finally we went to see another smaller waterfall, and walk around a beautiful area that had some nice views of the lake and the faults/tectonic plate splitting. This was a great tour and I highly recommend it!

The Golden Circle tour portion was good, not great. Our "tour guide" was pretty much just a bus driver. Didn't tell us much about the destinations. Just drove us there, gave a little bit of advice on where to go, a tiny bit of background on what we were seeing and then dropped us off and told us to meet back at the bus at a certain time. Got to the snorkeling portion and that's where the craziness (fun?) started. Some advice: wear long johns underneath your clothes as you'll need to strip down in the back of a van to put on the dry and wet suits. The guides helped us get suited up (quite an ordeal) and then we waited a long time before it was our turn to snorkel the fissure. Was told that there is less of a wait during the morning tours. In any case, the visibility was amazing but as others have said, don't expect to see fish. Just rocks, crevices and some cool blue/green colors. It was nice that the guides have their own cameras and share the photos with everyone afterwards.

The minibus picked us up on time and was very clean and comfortable. Our guide, Jon, was very knowledgeable and shared information throughout the tour. I felt we had plenty of time at each of the beautiful sites.
Our snorkeling tour at Silfra was the highlight for me, as I had been wanting to do this for years! Our guides Vicky and Cecilia went over and above t make sure everyone was fitted in our suits properly and comfortable in the cold water. It was amazing!

Snorkeling in the crystal clear water between tectonic plates is truly awesome! Our guide (Anna) was great…and so adept & proficient fitting & assisting us into our dry suits as well as guiding us through the Silfra Rift. Seeing the waterfalls & geysers was icing on the cake. Beautiful Iceland Fire & Ice!

This was an amazing experience! They came and picked me up right at my hotel and took us all to snorkeling first. You will be freezing but it is completely worth it! Lilian our snorkeling guide was so patient and made sure everyone stayed together and was having fun! For my fellow travelers with braids or locs you will probably be a little more uncomfortable in the wetsuit but it is manageable but don’t get too big of braids and you should be fine. The next stops in the golden circle was breathtaking. It snowed so we got to see the golden circle covered in snow and it was soo pretty. Definitely Instagram worthy photos available at each stop. Our driver was so dope and really patient with us all and let us have a little more extra time to look around and take everything in. 100% would recommend

The snorkeling activity was incredible. I don't even know how to describe it, but 1000% it is worth it.
The photos were...not good. Especially pictures of us in the water. I can't even identify myself in those.
There was some miscommunication I guess and the driver that was supposed to pick us up from snorkeling did not do so, so the snorkel guide ended up driving us ~45 minutes to meet up with the other driver so we could join the rest of the Golden Circle tour. I'm not sure if we missed out on any stops or information because of that. For the stops we did get, I feel like we had reasonable amounts of time at each spot and the guide has a lot of good information. The tour ran a little late, but that was fine with me.

I’m giving a 3 star review as I felt the tour company could have given a more specific itinerary in advance. They could have also advised on bringing spare clothes for the snorkelling, as you do get wet. I read the reviews, so did bring an extra set of clothes etc. Also, although the snorkelling was refreshing, it did not meet my expectations. You cannot hear anything, once in the water. Also, it can get crowded and you can get pushed or whacked by others who are snorkelling. Overall, I felt like the golden circle was interesting to see but could have been done within an hour. The whole day felt like a filler day and could have done with more information. Looking back, I would have chosen to do something else had I known more about the tour. If you have limited time in Iceland, then I would avoid the golden circle. Only do it if you have time to spare.

Our guide, John was very informative and friendly. We enjoyed the drive around the golden circle seeing the vast landscape of the country. The golden falls were amazing as was the geyser. Our trip culminated with walking around Silfra, being able to see where the first Viking settlement held their parliament and a wonderful snorkeling experience at Silfra.

What an amazing day we spent upon our arrival in Iceland. The Golden Circle attractions did not disappoint. The beauty of Iceland is very prevalent, even though it was raining on and off most of that day. We were very fortunate that the rain cleared for the snorkeling adventure! This was a bucket list item for us, and we really enjoyed the experience with Vicky and our small group of fellow snorkelers. The clarity of the water between the plates was incredible. We did not feel rushed. We did not get cold. Our equipment was in good shape. All in all it was a fantastic day!

Our tour guide was breathtaking. He was truly knowledgeable about the area and not only brought us to major places but also a few extras along the way that were super interesting. I would note that you should DEFINITELY BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES:) Viator doesn't tell you what to bring for this and I inadvertently did the snorkeling with clothes I was planning to wear all day. The top of my dry suit leaked a bit, so my under shirt got a bit wet, which was manageable enough. My pants luckily stayed dry, but someone on my tour group did have ample leakage (he stayed warm because of the wet/dry suit) but his pants were completely soaked through. Overall though, very fun, and recommend 100%!

OMG....Thank just sums up this trip. Definitely one of my Iceland highlights. The sheer thrill and excitement of Snorkeling in 2° water between the tectonic plates was absolutely unreal. Our Snorkeling guide, Lillian, was amazing n ensured each one of us in our group of 6 was comfortable and safe. Our driver for this trip was an absolute pleasure. Having spent his entire life here, his stories and information just had a magical feel to them. He went out of his way to show us hidden local treasures like rye bread cooking on the beach and a crack running through a shopping complex. Loved every minute of this experience.

Best experience and sooooooo worth it! Everything from getting ready with all the gear, learning few things to handle things in dry suit, Snorkeling in the magical Silfra rift were perfect. Troll goes way above and beyond in taking care of their guests. Would definitely definitely recommend to anyone who knows how to swim and enjoys the calmness of the water .

Incredible experience. Snorkeling in Silfra is once in a lifetime type of stuff. Out of this world. The rest of the Golden Circle tour was also beautiful. The guides were excellent - friendly and informative. You have to be adventurous to do the snorkeling, it's not for the faint of heart, but so worth it! The dry suit keeps you warm and dry.

This was my first ever tour I booked for one of my travels and it was one of the best experiences! So, these are the highlights of the day tour-
First is the communication - The operators responded promptly with all the details (The only complaint I think is, I had to personally ask them about the right pickup location a day before the tour, and I would have appreciated if they'd inform me beforehand.)
Second, the tour itself - The bus was really comfortable and it wasn't overcrowded, there were still empty seats in the bus which made the ride so peaceful! My fellow passengers were really kind and fun to hang out with, I didn't feel awkward even for a moment since I was travelling solo. Next, the tour guide/driver was really funny and knowledgeable which made the journey a fun experience. Upon arrival at Silfra, the guides were really warm and friendly and that really comforted my nerves right before snorkelling, they attended to each person individually making sure we were all suited and geared up. Kevin the lead, explained the path and shared useful snorkelling tips while cracking hilarious jokes at the same time :D
The second part of the tour - The geyser and Gulfoss waterfalls were well planned by the tour agency and I had ample time to eat, roam around and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
Less crowd, great atmosphere, kind folks what more can one ask for!

This was an incredible experience! I've already recommended this tour with the snorkeling to so many people and will continue to do so. Everyone was so friendly and fun. It was a well organised trip. Björn was so knowledgeable and a lot of fun!
For those in doubt, this tour can be done in winter, you gey a dry suit when snorkeling so don't get wet, and you should definitely have a look!

I would have liked a bit of time to walk around Thingvellir after the snorkelling, but apart from this I could not fault the day.

This was amazing! Our guide, Haymir (I may be spelling that incorrectly) was fantastic. He was so engaging and funny, while also incredibly informative. The locations were beautiful, and our guide gave us a rundown of each stop before letting us explore on our own, taking it at our own paces, which I thought was great. The tour size was perfect - about 12 people. It was big enough where it felt like a group tour, but small enough to befriend everyone in the group. I can’t recommend this enough!! The snorkeling was amazing. We split the group in two, my group was led by the amazing Marcelo from Brazil. The safety instruction was so informative and detailed, and he gave each person proper attention when putting on our gear. Marcelo was funny and kept us laughing, while also ensuring everyone was safe, and seeing the incredible formations below the water. The photos you’ll get from the snorkeling are hilarious and amazing - something I’ll never forget!
