Hidden gem that is worth the time!

Laura_S, Aug 2025
Great way to learn more about the history of the Vikings. The figurines were life-like! Hats off to the curators!

A must see!

Very well done. The history comes alive with the well made figures and the scenes they are set in. We really enjoyed it. The staff was very kind and helpful.

Viking History

Interesting tour about the Viking history. The wax figures were so life-like, I expected them to move any second. Good tour for kids.

Worth it

Great origin/making of story of the museum. Fantastic staff especially the guy in the gift shop. Interesting exhibit with 30-minute guided audio tour. Outstanding figures with crazy realistic eyes. Worth it and not too busy in the middle of a beautiful October Monday.

Nice muesum

This was a cute museum, lots of life size dioramas that were well done. Good history of old Iceland. This would be really neat modernized and upgrades with virtual and 3D experiences along with more hard artifacts.

Definitely Worth the Brief Stop

This small museum takes about 45 minutes to tour and offers a great overview of Iceland's early history as captured in the Sagas. There are audio headsets that explain each of the 18 or so static displays that use incredibly lifelike mannequins to demonstrate the scene. We appreciated the humor of the “bonus exhibit” as well. The artists designing the figures are very talented.

Not boring at all

Susanne_F, Jul 2020
You cannot go to Iceland and not inquire about the vikings and the history of the land - and this is the most exciting way to do it, like a Madame Toussauds but educational - and definitivly not boring (infact a few children were scared at first). History to walk through and stunning anecdotes illustrated with life sized wax figures

Very interesting - worth a visit
