Impressive customer service

This excursion was cancelled due to inclement weather so my review is based on having received timely updates and offer to reschedule. Unfortunately we were unable to reschedule due to time constraints on our trip so we requested a refund which was processed immediately.

A Must Stop

Peter_R, Mar 2026
A must stop after seeing the northern Lights in person. We learned so much about the NL but visiting here first might have diminished our experiencing the NL in person.

If you missed Northern Lights, this is 2nd Best to view it on VR!

My solo traveling experience at Reykjavik’s Northern Lights Museum was fantastic. Self tour guide was great. Very informative information provided about northern lights from its history to discovery and how they are formed etc. Virtual reality experience was okay could have been bigger in room space instead of sitting down better to stand up to look around a full 360 VR Experience. Make sure you pick up a copy and purchase your Blu-Ray souvenir disc of Nortthern Lights actually recorded in Iceland for a memorable keepsake! Worth checking out!

It was an enjoyable and...

It was an enjoyable and educational experience. One benefit I enjoyed was taking a free picture in front of an aurora and having it sent to my email. Considering I was there when the aurora was not visible, that was fun!

Aroura isn't just a princess!!

If traveling during the summer, great way to learn about the Northern Lights. Lots of history and information on where and how the lights form. Great displays. Self guided makes this a bit lack luster. Not for little kids, they would be bored unless already a space/science nut.

Don’t miss it

Very interesting informative experience. Not like the real thing but less costly and more certain. Short walk from the center

Definitely worth a visit to the Museum!

Amazing insightful museum! The staff was very helpful in explaining the history, research and process that needs to occur to see northern lights. Realize that some of it is patience and luck. The VR devices were super fun checking out the amazing colors/shapes and sizes from all over Iceland. The staff also helped me pick up some great tshirts and hoodies with a cool design. Now we are ready to look up in the sky and see them!

Good little visit in Reykjavik, easy to get to, and not too pricey! Bring your own headsets/earphones!!!

Nice little museum for the Northern Lights experience. There was a nice "viewing" area where you could lie down and get a glimpse of things. By far the best was the VR experience where you could see 360 degrees of Northern Lights. Fun little place!!!

Good intro to Northern Lights but fairly small museum

Jonathan_T, Aug 2024
Good introduction to Northern Lights but it is a fairly small museum, good location in the centre of town

Guaranteed Northern lights in summer

Amy_V, Jul 2024
If you’re visiting Iceland in summer, you won’t have an opportunity to catch them in nature, but you will see them here without any weather concerns. The museum is small but it packs in a lot of history and facts about the northern lights from mythology to science facts. You can listen as you go through QR codes, learn how to photograph the aurora, see a film showing off the aurora all over Iceland and have a VR experience. Definitely worth a look.

Very nice displays of Northern Lights

Kelly_W, Jun 2024
The experience was great. We enjoyed seeing the Northern Lights since we may never see them ourselves. I gave it a 4 because it moved and the tickets as well as the literature still had the old address.

Northern Lights center visit

Katelyn_O, Jun 2024
Was a good resemblance since the lights were not visible for my visit. The virtual reality was great and I loved all the beautiful art & photography.

Learn something new about the Northern Lights.

Therese_C, Dec 2023
I loved learning about why the Northern Lights happen. Thought the viewing room was worth the admission.

Great experience

Nina_S, Oct 2023
Great experience!!! Good and easy to understand information. Nice staff. Now I'm ready for the northern light hunt :D

If you don't see Nature's northern lights, this helps fill the gap!

Deb_B, Aug 2023
We loved the exhibits and interactive displays. Sebastian was running the reception and the gift shop, and still managed to make us welcome at the conclusion of our visit.

Not High on List

Fravel_G, Nov 2021
Provided good information, if you did no research or hear little from guides before going. Pictures and videos were good but, I don’t believe as advertised. Ads imply a wrap-around screen and all you get is virtual reality goggles at the end. Not what expected, but probably good for the less informed/knowledgeable.

Grandioses Erlebnis

Thomas_B, Mar 2023
Da wir leider keine Nordlichter in Natura gesehen haben, war dies (fast) ein vollständiger Ersatz. es waren wunderschöne Photos und Videos.
