Itinerary
Hop aboard your City Sightseeing bus at any of the 16 stops around Reykjavik, and show your voucher to the driver. How long you stay on board the bus is up to you; your voucher is valid for 24 or 48 hours (depending on the option chosen), allowing you to hop on and off the bus wherever and whenever you like.
If you wish, stay on board for the full loop and admire landmarks like Harpa Concert Hall and Reykjavik City Hall from your double-decker bus. Or why not hop off at Laugardalur Valley to visit thermal pools and the spa? Other attractions that line the route include the National Gallery of Iceland and the Whales of Iceland exhibition—a treat for all the family.

We didn’t actually use these tickets as we were never able to find the stops or understand the way to use the vouchers. We tried communicating with the tour operators several times during this day but they never responded until after our tour date had ended. Overall bad experience, the only bad experience we have had here in Iceland. Love the country and will be back but would not recommend this tour.

Very nice sight seeing excursion for the city. It takes a little over an hour and you have an opertunity to get off at any of the 16 stops. Audio is available while on the bus in different languages.

As with most things in Iceland it’s the cost of things to do. However it’s a good way of seeing the city and the in house information is very useful. The bus visit all the sites and helps with deciding where to go in the future. If you haven’t done any research where to go this bus is useful

Don’t waste your money. Every bus that we took, the audio was inoperable so learning about Reykjavík was impossible. We even had one driver drive away as we were walking towards the back of the bus, which I can’t imagine he didn’t see us so all in all, it wasn’t a worthwhile experience.

We’ve done City Sightseeing tours all over the world. This is the only one where it just wasn’t practical. We booked two days and on both days, by 3:30, the drivers told us they were on their last rotation and couldn’t take us back to our originating stop. It was 3:30 on a Saturday! Lol I thought the hours would be a little extended on the weekend. And maybe there is a good reason for the limited hours…but because I don’t know what that reason is they get 1 star.

The audio did t work, so we had no idea what or where we were but the maps were helpful. Add a sign to push the bell when to stop at the next stop. Not everyone knows thiis and it seems to irritate drivers when they miss a stop… even though we said that was the stop. You have to push the button. Need signs.

Our driver was not at all friendly. He did not speak upon us boarding the bus. Just looked at our ticket and handed it back. His driving was a lil scary at times. The sites were great to see all at once.

I love taking a Hop On Hop Off tour the first day I visit a new city. Traveling from the US to Reykjavik it helped me get a sense of the city and visit some sites while I was pretty tired from a long day of travel. The narration was recorded and available in several languages so it was easy to understand what was being shared.

the driver did not speak when I asked him several questions upon entering the bus .. he never looked up from his phone .. I asked if he spoke English and he nodded yes .. the earpiece kept cutting in and out and I missed many important facts in the bus tour .. I tried several different seats .. all the same .. I would not recommend this tour !

It wasn’t that great. The seats on the bus are like sitting on wood benches. There were around 10 of us sitting on the top and the heater was on full blast, we were roasting. Someone asked for the heat to be turned off, it wasn’t. Really not worth it as it didn’t stop at any attractions we wanted so we still walked A LOT. It was a disappointment.

Know what you are getting. The info is somewhat misleading. The bus ticket is good for 24 hours, but the bus only runs from 9:30 to 17:30. Most places on the stops close at 17:00. We suggest getting on the bus and making a full round to hear the prerecorded information. Then decide where to hop off. You will not be able to hop on and off more than a few times each 24 hours. Also the buses only come every 45 min. So you may have a long wait. We did discover a QR code where you could see bus locations. But it does not say how long they will be at any stop. It is reasonable overview of the city.

Plenty of buses arrived in the morning, Buses were running approximately every 15 minutes. In the afternoon, buses were running every 45 minutes, making planning stops difficult. Maintenance is needed to remove earphone adapters that are broken off in several jacks on all 4 busses I used. . Mush of the audio was clear and interesting.

There aren't that many stops, and we had to wait a bit for the next bus to show up. My earbuds crackled a lot but that was ok because I was enjoying the sights as we drove. We did the 24 hour and really didn't get to use it much because we had a whale watching expedition in the morning. But we got where we wanted to go and saw what we wanted to see. We love taking HOHO buses when we first get to a city we've never been to. It's a great way to see the city. The map provided proved to be helpful when walking around, too.

Do not really see or learn that much from this Hop on Hop off bus. Waited at 1 stop (Stop #4) only to watch the bus go directly past us without even slowing down much less stopping for the 4 of us waiting. Generally use City Sightseeing HOHO buses in most cities we visit to gain an overview of the area and its attractions. This one is the worst of the bunch.

I arrived in Reykjavik 30 hours in advance of a Quark polar expedition into Greenland’s west coast, and immediately upon checking into my hotel I sought out the City Sightseeing Reykjavik Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour.
Well with my price range, I figured it would be a great way to see the highs and lows of Reykjavik. I bought my ticket online through Viator, and the process of boarding was without a hitch.
First stop – the big church on the hill, was crowded with tourists, and I was very glad to remain on board. This actually was close to the end of the tour, as we shortly headed for BSI, the main bus terminal which to me seemed like the logical ending and starting place for an on-off tour.
From there we headed high up into the city, on winding and steep roads that spoke directly to the way Reykjavik was founded. The views were stunning, and we got to see local neighborhoods in between the marquee kinds of attractions – like Perlan, the Pearl.
I stayed on the bus for its entire cycle, getting a sense of direction and development. But after passing Perlan and hearing about its purpose and functions, I knew I would be spending my afternoon there.
All things considered, this was a great way to see the big picture of Reykjavík, and also explore one particular attraction. Once I completed my tour of Perlan, I waited about 10 minutes for the bus to take me back near to my hotel. Seamless, without problems, and very enjoyable.

Really angry with City Sightseeing Reykjavik. I had booked a 48 hour ticket and about a week ago they messaged me to say they could not do the second day because of the road closures due to Culture Night. So I changed to a 24-hour ticket. They then contacted me 2 days ago to say they were cancelling that one too!
Culture Night has been in existence for years so there is no excuse for this abysmal customer service. They should have cancelled these dates months ago.

The bus was so crowded we were afraid to get off and lose our seat. Many people were left standing on the sidewalks because of no place to sit. We had to ask for headphones and then the connection did not work so we got no information.

Long waits, we had to wait 45 to 60 minutes at first stop so decided not to get off and heard similar stories from other passengers. Disorganized getting tickets which is only on board. No signs at some stops or any employees for information. Was a good way to get an overview of some of the city if not a great experience.
