Itinerary

Hop aboard your City Sightseeing bus at any of the 16 stops around Reykjavik, and show your voucher to the driver. How long you stay on board the bus is up to you; your voucher is valid for 24 or 48 hours (depending on the option chosen), allowing you to hop on and off the bus wherever and whenever you like.

If you wish, stay on board for the full loop and admire landmarks like Harpa Concert Hall and Reykjavik City Hall from your double-decker bus. Or why not hop off at Laugardalur Valley to visit thermal pools and the spa? Other attractions that line the route include the National Gallery of Iceland and the Whales of Iceland exhibition—a treat for all the family.

Not a lot to see on this tour but an easy way of getting around - the best part is they pull into the cruise port I didn’t like the fact they stopped at the stops for a minimum time- no one gets off to see if passengers waiting or coming toward bus, I was on way and waved - I know driver saw me but he drove off - not impressed and wouldn’t recommend

I wish these tours would go back to live people doing the commentary. The commentary didn't work on one of the buses. On another it was ahead of the bus and it was just anemic in general. If you want to buy the 48 hour pass, it's a decent way to get around the city but otherwise, it's a poor tour and doesn't do much to introduce you to Reykjavik.

Horrible Experience

When I bought my tickets onlie, i received a QR code that said plainly "this is not your ticker" and that I was to go to Harpa to exchange it for tickets. I was told that Harpa would open at 8:30 the next morning. I pid the expensive price of a taxi only to find from others who had come with the same instructions that the place does not open untiol 10. I took a taxi home, and returned at ten. And was then told at the desk that they did not issue tickets. Instead I should just show my QR code on any bus at any stop. This was all the more frustrating because my apartment is two minutes from stop 7. We could have just gone there to ride the bus. Next, many people on the two busses we rode were seniors (as am I), but both drivers gave no attention to this. They stomped on the gas while older people were still finding their way to a seat. In the first bus an older man was actualy hurled down the aisle and had to be caught by other passengers before he hit the floor. On the second bus, an older woman sitting in a seat that faced outward toward the aisle was slammed hard against the wall to her left by the driver slamming on his brakes. In conclusion, I would say that this company needs serious attention to its pre-ride policy statements and the quality of drivers employed. Seniors need to ride with extreme caution.

It’s a good way to get an overview of the city. The buses have good audio narration that no one mentioned until our last ride when the driver handed out earphones. There is no set schedule and it can be 30 minutes or more. We waited that long only to be told the bus was full.

Don’t Use - inconsistent service.

Not worth booking. Automated audio guide was not working on the bus we were on. Then when we were waiting to get on a bus for more than 40 minutes (left after 40+ minutes of waiting - company indicated 30 minutes between buses). We allowed 1.5 hours to catch the bus and make it through only half of the total stops — obviously bad planning on my part, should have doubled the timing for whatever the company says… We ended up taking a taxi back to our destination.

Poor experience

Our experience was very disappointing starting with infrequent buses. When a bus finally came to the Harpa there were no headphones or maps available and using some found on bus, there was no functioning commentary. After making one stop and waiting over 30 minutes, the bus we were on broke down and we were stranded for 45 minutes in middle of highway for another 45 minutes. Despite two buses passing us in that time, finally a bus stopped and we transferred. At that point we just wanted to get back and leave Reykjavik.

Bad experience

We didn’t actually use these tickets as we were never able to find the stops or understand the way to use the vouchers. We tried communicating with the tour operators several times during this day but they never responded until after our tour date had ended. Overall bad experience, the only bad experience we have had here in Iceland. Love the country and will be back but would not recommend this tour.

Don’t waste your money. Every bus that we took, the audio was inoperable so learning about Reykjavík was impossible. We even had one driver drive away as we were walking towards the back of the bus, which I can’t imagine he didn’t see us so all in all, it wasn’t a worthwhile experience.

We’ve done City Sightseeing tours all over the world. This is the only one where it just wasn’t practical. We booked two days and on both days, by 3:30, the drivers told us they were on their last rotation and couldn’t take us back to our originating stop. It was 3:30 on a Saturday! Lol I thought the hours would be a little extended on the weekend. And maybe there is a good reason for the limited hours…but because I don’t know what that reason is they get 1 star.

The audio did t work, so we had no idea what or where we were but the maps were helpful. Add a sign to push the bell when to stop at the next stop. Not everyone knows thiis and it seems to irritate drivers when they miss a stop… even though we said that was the stop. You have to push the button. Need signs.

I love taking a Hop On Hop Off tour the first day I visit a new city. Traveling from the US to Reykjavik it helped me get a sense of the city and visit some sites while I was pretty tired from a long day of travel. I asked if he spoke English and he nodded yes .. the earpiece kept cutting in and out and I missed many important facts in the bus tour .. I tried several different seats .. all the same .. It wasn’t that great. The seats on the bus are like sitting on wood benches. There were around 10 of us sitting on the top and the heater was on full blast, we were roasting. Someone asked for the heat to be turned off, it wasn’t. Really not worth it as it didn’t stop at any attractions we wanted so we still walked A LOT. It was a disappointment.

Know what to expect.

Know what you are getting. The info is somewhat misleading. The bus ticket is good for 24 hours, but the bus only runs from 9:30 to 17:30. Most places on the stops close at 17:00. We suggest getting on the bus and making a full round to hear the prerecorded information. Then decide where to hop off. You will not be able to hop on and off more than a few times each 24 hours. Also the buses only come every 45 min. So you may have a long wait. We did discover a QR code where you could see bus locations. But it does not say how long they will be at any stop. It is reasonable overview of the city.

Disappointing, had to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes fo a bus with no reason given. Would not recommend it.

Plenty of buses arrived in the morning, Buses were running approximately every 15 minutes. In the afternoon, buses were running every 45 minutes, making planning stops difficult. Maintenance is needed to remove earphone adapters that are broken off in several jacks on all 4 busses I used. . Mush of the audio was clear and interesting.
