Miki does such an amazing job not only explaining the steps and reasoning behind everything, but also fostering a welcoming environment where we can ask questions. Our dishes in the end were absolutely delicious and we learned a lot about Japanese cuisine and Japanese culture. Thanks so much Miki!

A Fun and Delicious Cooking Experience in Osaka

    Sandy_G, Nov 2025
We had a fantastic time at this street food cookery class in Osaka. It was great meeting another couple from Ireland, and we really enjoyed making noodles and vegetable tempura. The experience was fun, easy to follow, and surprisingly simple to recreate. We were also given written recipes and instructions to take home, which was a lovely touch. The food was delicious, and our facilitator was warm, helpful, and shared fascinating insights into Japanese food and culture. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic time taking a cooking class with our family while visiting Japan! The hosts were absolutely wonderful—warm, patient, and so knowledgeable. They made the experience fun and engaging for everyone, and we all walked away with new skills and full stomachs. It was a highlight of our trip and something we’ll all remember fondly. Highly recommend!

    Unforgettable Experience!

Our son found Eat Osaka after reading some glowing reviews on Reddit. He insisted we take their Street Food Cooking class and I am so glad we did! Booking was easy on Viator and the location was a short walk from the train station. Our lovely host, Miki, welcomed our family and explained each step of the process to us, including the history of the beautiful building we were in. The kitchen was very inviting and easy to work in. Miki was very patient and guided us as we worked on our udon noodles made the traditional way. She made sure to take pictures on our phone as we went to document the experience. We made a simple, but delicious pickled cucumber salad, as well as chicken and vegetable tempura. By the end of our session we were enjoying the delicious meal as Miki answered our questions about the fresh ingredients we used. I’m excited to try the recipe at home now that I know how easy it is to make (the full recipe is provided afterwards via email so you know exactly what you need). I highly recommend that everyone include this experience on their next trip to Osaka. It is one of the most memorable from our trip!

    Fantastic Experience

Natalie took us through the process of making our own udon noodles & tempura which was delicious. She was a fantastic teacher and created a very relaxing environment. She also kindly accommodated for me as vegetarian. Wonderful experience, would definitely recommend.

    Why the five stars

    Sarah_A, Mar 2025
Why the five stars? This cooking class with Eat Osaka and the amazing Nathalie was certainly a highlight of our stay in Osaka. If you have time in your itinerary, spending these few hours with Nathalie really was enlightening, entertaining and immersive. Being able to share this moment with Nathalie made us understand so much about Japanese culture and traditions. We had a blast, it was so much fun. What’s to expect? You eat delicious Japanese food that you cook while chatting and drinking roasted tea, you can literally bring these recipes home, you spend some time in a Japanese authentic kitchen and house, you learn about Japanese way of life, and you laugh a lot. About the premises The house where the cooking classes take place is absolutely magic and authentic. It was clean, cosy, good vibes only and it has absolutely all the tools and ingredients you would need. The recipes To think that we were able to cook all these dishes is absolutely out of this world. Not only did Nathalie make it easy to achieve but it was also super fun and absolutely delicious. We will certainly cook them again at home. The choreography was on point and it was so smooth. About Nathalie The beauty of the thing is that we don’t know anyone in Japan, and we had so many questions as Japan first-timers, exchanging with Nathalie was a unique opportunity for us, it allowed us to understand so many things about Osaka and to benefit from all her tips and tricks. Nathalie is half British and her command of English is excellent, she also spent her whole life in Japan so she knows what she is talking about. She gave us loads of recommendations on top of teaching us how to make great food. Cherry on top, Nathalie was enough of an angel to take us to a nearby food market and to show us all the things we wanted to bring home. Nathalie has a great personality, very peaceful, enthusiastic, upbeat, she is a great cook and a great teacher. Conclusion We are so very thankful for such a great time and would like to highly recommend this class, even if you’re not a great cook, you will not regret it. My husband and I would easily give her more than 5 stars if it was possible.

Great host, great food, great cooking space

    Phoebe_W, Mar 2025
If you’re looking for a cooking class, look no further! Natalie was amazing! She was extremely knowledgeable and kind. Not only did we make a scrumptious meal but we learned so much about Osaka cooking culture. She gave us well needed recommendations about where to buy knives and some fun places to go. The food turned out great and was so fun to make. The cooking area is spacious and Natalie even had a separate area we could drop our bags. I could not have asked for a more hospitable and delicious experience. Will be a happy memory I keep with me forever.

    An amazing experience
