A lot of factors here that went into this not being a great tour but I think spacing and time need to be adjusted the most. This could easily be under 2 hours and the food/ drink portion could be spaced out better. I had read such great reviews and maybe our guide was not the right fit for us either.

Hanukkah was upbeat and gave a balanced view of history and sentiment of the red light district and showed some featured highlights along the way. He was eager to share Japanese history and culture and engage on questions about comparative society. The foods he picked were delicious and our night was much enriched by his tour.

This was by far one of the best experiences that we had in Osaka. Leo was very informative about the Red Light District, and quite the comedian as well. We loved every minute of the tour and greatly appreciate Leo for the awesome time.

I booked this experience on a whim and didn’t know what to expect, and this exceeded any expectations. Super fun, our guide was very informative and funny and made all of us in the group feel comfortable and welcome. We learned a lot about the red light district and its history, afterwards we got to try a true local standing only izakaya. Our guide Rui pushed us out of our comfort zones with some unique food choices and I’m so happy he did! My fiancé is a chef and he had been dying to try some of the dishes we had. Definitely a must book experience! Would book again just to eat and drink with Rui! Thank you so much for the unforgettable memories!!!!

While Leo was very light hearted and well intentioned, I believe there are likely more informative tours about the area in Osaka. I wish we had spent more time actually walking around the red light district and Shinsekai.

This tour was amazing! Our guide, Haruki brought great energy and so much knowledge. There’s nothing better than having someone who knows which spots to hit and is excited about sharing it! That makes a huge difference because I was in some of the same places earlier that day by myself and didn’t have as much fun! Trust me, I’d never chosen to eat liver on my own or even thought I’d enjoy it. I don’t want to spoil it with more details than that so if you’re reading this, I would highly recommend going!

Had a great time on the tour! Rui was very informative and provided a nice experience for everyone on the tour. The places we stopped for food were good too, although I liked one more than the other. My advice is to just pay for the base tour - it will be cheaper than the option that includes food.

Rui was a fantastic guide. Funny and knowledgeable. A unique experience i must have to say. Certainly gave us a glimpse into the inner workings of the oldest profession in the world in japan that is still being practiced today. My teenage boys were certainly "enlightened"!!!

The tour guide was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and fun. Wish the food was spaced out a bit instead of a bunch of walking then a bunch of food. We definitely ate and saw many things we wouldn’t have otherwise.

We had so much fun on this tour! Rui was a great guide, he was very friendly and engaging, also we learned a lot about the history of Osaka. The small group size was perfect for the food tour portion, and all of the food we tried was amazing. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for something a little different, and who wants to meet new people and try new food.

Leo was so nice and hilarious, and he shared a lot of history about Osaka that you definitely wouldn't get in a guide book. First off let me just say how great a tour guide Rui-San was. He was funny, down to earth, but most of all he was extremely informative. Second, make sure you bring an umbrella in case it rains. Rui was nice enough to grab an extra for us (we owe you!). The first half of this tour is a walk around Shinsekai and nearby shopping areas with tiny bars where locals eat and sing karaoke. Then, you head into the Red Light District. Rui teaches you a lot of good history before entering, and also clarifies the legality issues that many can’t grasp. Finally, he instructs how to enter, observe, and do so in a respectful manner. It was quite an experience like someone on Vice Guide back in the day. Second half of the tour is two delicious spots. The first is a stand up bar. Do yourself a favor and be adventurous! I tried things I would have never even ordered and surprisingly they were delicious. Second spot is a kushi Katsu spot. Keep eating, it’s amazing.
One recommendation I have is to pay the food costs up front on Viator because that can be an annoying thing to do especially if you’re trying to save your ¥ for other cash only things.

Very interesting and fun tour to see a side of Japan you would never know the history of as an outsider. Rui-san was a great guide and answered all of our questions, even things outside of the scope of the tour. The food was great as well.

Amazing tour! Haruki was full of passion and knowledge about these lesser-known areas of Osaka. It was great to gain cultural and historical insights from a local. I would recommend having a light snack (emphasis on light) as you'll walk for about an hour before enjoying the izakaya food. The food was, of course, amazing, and it was exciting to try dishes I might have been too timid to order myself. I learned so much and had a fantastic time with the smaller group, which made moving around and having in-depth conversations much easier. Thanks again for a memorable experience; it's definitely one of the highlights of my Japan trip.
