Itinerary
Meet your guide at your Naples hotel and hop aboard your luxury coach for the journey to Pompeii. As you go, hear about the fateful day in 79 AD when Mt. Vesuvius violently erupted, burying the whole of Pompeii and its residents. Pass the mighty volcano along the drive, still active to this day.
Arrive at the ruins of Pompeii and follow your guide past the archaeological site's top attractions. See the Thermal Baths, the Lupanare brothel, and the Forum, the former civic center that helped the city thrive prior to its destruction.
Afterward, refuel with a true Italian pie at a local pizzeria before heading to Sorrento. There, enjoy a walking tour past the beaches of Seiano and Vico Equense, and through the streets full of stores and quaint workshops. Pause in Meta di Sorrento for panoramic views of the bay and the Mediterranean.
Conclude your trip with a stop at Villa Comunale, one of the most scenic places in Sorrento, where you can see as far as Punta Campanella and the island of Capri. Soak up the last of the view before returning to your hotel in Naples.

We were given wrong information about pick up in Sorrento . So we wasted at least half an hour standing around frightened to move from the spot . I tried to contact via your channels . The phone kept cutting off and the email comms stopped

Dear Sirs maybe there was a misunderstanding with the driver because all the others participants returned to the meeting point at the same right time. Regards
You need much more time than they say to fit everything in as 7 hours will only give you 30 minutes in Sorrento and you don't want to miss your ship.

No Madame that is not correct, we provide this tour everyday since many years and we always come back to Naples port at 17:00/17:15, in time for the majority of boarding times. Regards
Pompeii tour was organized well but Sorrento tour was a joke. No tour guide just a speaker device which was not working. Some one told us 20 minutes go and 20 minutes back but end up with 2.5 hours go and 2.5 hours back. Just gave us one hour to walk around. We took 15 minutes for toilet and walked one street and back to meeting place because we worry we could not find way back. It is a DISASTER 😤😤😤

Yes Sir, you are right, the traffic along the coast on high season is a disaster, we totally agree with you. Regarding our tour on the second part of the activity there is no guide, we provide tested audioguides and so we did. Further the stop in Sorrento is one hour and so we did. In the end your complaint is about travel times but that it doesn't depend on us of course. Best regards
Good length for Pisa and great informational tour.
Too short for Sorrento. Not enough time to see everything there. It may be better to start at 9 am to have 1 more hour for Sorrento.
The Pompeii tour was fantastic and Erica was an excellent guide. However, the tour company we booked with (Napoli Project Services) were not so good! They gave us confusing instructions and then blamed us for being late for our pizza that was included as part of the Sorrento extension of the tour. The Napoli Project tour person was very rude and it also meant we didn't have time to eat our pizza and we were then abandoned by her to find a driver (who spoke extremely little English) and then dumped in Sorrento to fend for ourselves (not even given an audio guide or map!). The tour details clearly stated we would be stopping at a viewpoint and having a guided tour of Sorrento! I definitely would not recommend booking this extension! I also think the tour company are trying to do too many different tours in one which is a big part of the problem. Everyone should visit Pompeii (maybe book direct instead of through Project Napoli) though, it is amazing.
Now Viator are refusing to refund any of the tour cost and have changed the description of the tour completely (this only happened yesterday after I requested a partial refund) in order to back up not providing the refund! Absolutely shocking customer service from both Project Napoli and Viator!
Tour was educational and the guide was knowledgeable. Overall a great tour! We enjoyed our pizza in Sorrento. The staff made sure we got back to the port on time.
We were met by travel guide at the port exit and driven after three stops to Pompeii. She separated the group into preferred language in Pompeii. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and shared a lot about the sex history of Pompeii which I was surprised to learn. After our half day tour we were walked by another guide to a local pizza restaurant and pointed to where we were to meet our driver for our afternoon trip to Sorrento. The pizzas were huge and very good. Lunch included pizza and Pepsi.
Our driver took us to sorrento along with another couple. They were dropped off at a hotel. We were given an audio guide when we arrived in sorrento that I believe was supposed to be given to us as we drove as much of the information described information along the route. We had one hour in Sorrento so not much time. Sorrento is beautiful. We drove back to our port in Naples for an on time departure.
Ok this tour:- first part to pompei was ok we holidaying on a cruise ship so yes we were on time limit. So the tour started actually quite late 9:45 but by the time we had picked everyone up and got in our way it was around half 10 got to pompei ok and this part of the tour was very good the tour guide was very informative and knew her stuff. But this is where it went down hill fast. We were left to get pizza that was paid for in the tour by another guide we then told that to ask for a taxi driver called savatoria at the meeting place which she showed us. We never saw her again. We found taxi driver didn’t speak a word of English or very little the road to sorrento was extremely busy took us 2 and half hours to cover 16miles I tried to speak to the driver that we could t do it and need to go back as fear of missing our ship. He said we were in a tour and had to go into sorrento by the time we got there it was 5 o’clock we had to get out of the tour minivan and get straight into a taxi (of which fair enough to them they had organised for us) and raced back to Naples to catch our ship, of which we just did. So no I won’t be recommending this tour. I think viator need to start this tour earlier in the day and have guide that speak English or multi languages to help there passenger, not just a pre recorded plug in device that was broken. This can’t be the first time this has happened. Seriously needs to be looked at. It’s a shame as I was really looking forward to sorrento always wanted to visit.
We had a great time on our Pompeii trip! Maria was a great guide and provided plenty of information and kept the tour entertaining!
Our guide Marie was amazing, she is full of character and made our time enjoyable. Highly recommend the tour.
Pompei trip was good Maria our guide was very informative and humorous. We went into Sorrento which was less informative. We were dropped off told to be back in 1 and an half hours and that was it.
We loved this day trip!! Everyone starts with Pompeii and then the group divides itself, some do mount vesuvius, some head home, some do Sorrento. We loved getting to go to Sorrento! It was an additional 45 minute or so drive and they let us explore for about two hours or so on our own. The lunch was pizza at a restaurant in Pompeii which was very good! Tour at Pompeii was great. Much more impressive than we expected
Pompei is such an amazing archeological site. Our tour guide did a very good job explaining all the details in the right amount. Speed for the tour was appropriate as there were two elderly in the group. Two hours might not be good enough. Next time would like to join for a longer tour. Bus ride was comfy.
There were only me and my husband for the Sorrento tour. The driver didn’t speak English at all but he drove safely, polite and was on time. We had the electronic audio guide and explore the place all by ourselves with you any problems. But considering the time to travel from Pompei to Sorrento (one hour at least with heavy traffic), it may. It may not be worth it to spend just one hour there with 2-3 hours travel time. Sorrento is a lovely place but too “touristic”.
Nice transportation to and from the events. The guide In Pompeii was fabulous and provided great information with a touch of humor to keep it interesting
Everything was well planned. The tour in Pompeii was excellent. The guide was very informative and thorough. It started a little late. The trip to Sorrento was beautiful.
The pick-up in Naples was good and drive down to Pompeii fine. The guide, Rafaella, was very knowledgeable and executed well. However, I got ‘diengaged’ from group near end of tour. It would have helped to have a map at least of layout! Managed to find exit, and excellent communication from Viator operatives guided myself and daughter (with whom I was reunited) back to restaurant for lunch which was excellent. After that, communication was a little disjointed to find transport onto Sorrento. Drivers excellent skills at all times although appreciate sometimes changed plans of guides but they adapted well, caring and attentive to accommodate. Overall, thoroughly enjoyed tour ‘when in Italy, do as Italians do’
Good experience overall. Bit of confusion with the pickup, but all sorted eventually. Excellent guide in Pompeii and they do good job taking the group through the crowded chaos of Pompeii. Lunch is pretty basic, but it’s effectively free. You might want to get your own instead, even at the same restaurant. Bus and minivan were both very clean, comfortable and drivers seemed experienced and good.
Our guide for Pompeii was excellent. She explained things very clearly and interacted well with the group. Trip to Sorrento gave us time on our own to explore the beautiful city.
Our guide at Pompeii, Eliana, was knowledgeable and personable, and spoke in plain language so you were not overwhelmed with facts you'd forget. If you lagged behind, you could lose sight of the guide and not be able to hear or find her. The terrain is a bit rough for those with walking challenges, but worth it. Even in mid-Oct, there were lots of people. I would not recommend touring on your own, as you would miss too much. The area is much larger than expected. Lunch was good, but we got behind and were late leaving for Sorrento. Our guide on this portion was Elga. I thought we would see a lot of coast on the way, but you actually go thru 3 tunnels in the mountains. The last was 5 KM long, and we ran into a traffic jam. Once past that, the road was narrow and busy and must be much worse in the summer. Once we could see the coast and coming into Sorrento, the scenery was beautiful. We got out in the centre of town down near the water, but due to our delay, instead of having 2 hours to spend, it had to be cut to 1 hour so that a couple from a Carnival ship could get back before it sailed. We had a quick tour through some of the streets nearby and down to overlooking the water (fantastic views), then 20 minutes to shop on our own. I would recommend going to Sorrento and/or other Amalfi coast towns if you get a chance, but I would not recommend driving there on your own. Overall a great day.
The trip Pompeii and Sorrento was nice. They sent us a description of where to meet them. They were all very knowledgeable and easy to conversate with.
Our tour of Pompeii was very informative. The guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. We then had a quick lunch included at a local restaurant for pizza. This was very nice but it is a long table for everyone on the tour so we did not get to sit together with our family. This was followed by a quick trip to Sorrento. It took us longer to get there than we stayed to tour around. Our second guide toured us to some local places eateries and limoncello shops and we were told to meet back in 20 minutes to return to Naples. This tail-end trip to Sorrento was not needed and too rushed.
Amazing excursion would highly recommend! The Pompeii tour guide (Emilie??) was so informative and funny too! She really made the tour worthwhile. The time in Sorrento was perfect, and the Pizza lunch was in a really gorgeous restaurant-excursion worth every penny!!
We had a fabulous time in both locations with two excellent guides. They were both very knowledgable and entertaining and we loved the history of both places!!
Great experience for the family, everyone was so kind and engaging with our 4year old. Our guides were amazing and full of knowledge. Would highly recommend
All aspects of the tour were wonderful
Both tour guides were friendly and very informative, the pizza was awesome
Tours of Pompeii and sorento had great guides, it was good having a guide at ponpeii to tell you alot of the history of the place. Lunch was chaos, we had about 8 minutes to eat a full pizza! Again the tour guide for sorento was really nice but you didn't have much time there, I would recommend a day trip to Sorento alone if you have time, its beautiful and nice to get away from the bustle of Naples. For what it was a good tour however
Elisa was an excellent guide for Pompeii - truly exceptional in providing great insight and history while being able to answer all the groups questions.
Sorrento was lovely but a bit short as we only had an hour to explore the town. Still a wonderful experience overall and highly recommended!
Our guide was so amazing! She was super knowledgeable. Very patient with the children that were on our tour. Excellent sense of humor
When the cruise ship pulled into Naples it was pouring rain and beyond windy. We tried to make it over to the bus but before we left the port building our shoes were already soaked and our umbrellas were broken. We let the tour operator know that we could not make it and asked for a refund. We couldn’t believe the tour would go on in the rain. Viator said they couldn’t give a refund which was even more frustrating. We have used Viator to book tours many times but their refund policy will make me consider using another company.
Response from Host, Oct 2022
Dear Sirs we understand your disappointing but our tours operate also in the rain and all the staff involved have to be paid also if the weather is bad. Best regards
This tour started too late. After touring Pompeii, we had a 1 hour drive to Sorrento. The “guide” said nothing to us the entire way about where we were, the beautiful towns we were passing etc. We were dumped off in town, told to meet in an hour, and then driven the hour back to Naples. If anyone has been to Sorrento, you know that it would take at least a half day to see any of the thousands of shops. Not recommended!
