This full‑day tour was exceptionally well organized and stress‑free. We had skip-the‑line entry to Pompeii, followed by a guided exploration of its fascinating ruins. The included pizza lunch with drink hit the spot, and the guided hike up Vesuvius offered stunning views of the Bay of Naples. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, the drive comfortable, and everything ran smoothly. Highly recommended for a memorable taste of history and nature!

Fabulous trip, well organised with excellent communication throughout. Superb guide, Stephanie. You need to be fit for Vesuvius as it’s a long steep walk on a loose gravel trail which is quite slippery, but scenery spectacular.
I have mixed feelings about this trip. First, our on bus guide Stefano was fantastic. But the tour was not as advertised. 1st, they said they would pick us up at our hotel, and specifically listed our hotel as a meeting point. The night before, the tour operator contacted us with a meeting point about a 10 minute walk away. It was advertised as a small group tour. Our bus actually had two groups, and time was spent orgaizing the separate itineraries. Our group was about a dozen, and at the entrance to Pompey, they combined us with a group from another bus, totaling 25 with our park guide. When I asked our guide Rosa about this, she just said "I didnt organize this tour" and walked away. And while knowledgeable, she made little effort to keep us together, frequently getting so far ahead in the crowds in the park that our guide radios faded out. Oh, and the included lunch was embarrassingly poor. Not even water included.
The climb up Mt Vesuvius went much better, although when I returned to the meeting area a couple of minutes late, I had trouble finding our group which had already left for the bus. Fortunately, Stefano came and found us.
The guide - Daniel was great! The tour is not recommended for cruises unless you have a late departure. The tour was advertised as a 7 hour tour with time of return on our tickets for 400 pm. Due to this being a non-cruise tour I confirmed the returned time prior to departure and was told it was not 400 pm that this was only an estimate and it would be more like 500 pm. It would be impossible to get us back by 400 pm. I have never had this problem with Viator in the past and we are frequent cruisers who use Viator for excursions yearly.
The large bus was filled with people who were getting guided tours and those who were not. So, we spent the first 1-1/2 hours of the tour picking up people. This this is probably the contributing factoring of not being able to get us back in time. The company filled the bus. Also, our tour was supposed to be in English only, but the Italian guide did not show so we had to listen to Italian and English from our guide which took longer.
They did make it right for us and let us cancel the afternoon portion of the tour and gave us a partial credit. We had to take a Train /bus and walk back to the ship from Pompei in 100 degree heat. This was horrible!!!
Pompeii was fabulous and guide Daniel did a fantastic job! We appreciated his honesty about not being able to get us back in time, but it was disappointing. We also were grateful the company refunded a portion of our money back, as they should have.
Bottom line, cruisers allow several hours cushion for this excursion.

Thank you for your feedback and for your kind words about Daniel. We always ask guests whether they are cruise passengers so we can better organize the tour around their needs. In your case, the estimated return time and the fact that it could vary due to traffic and logistics were clearly explained before departure, and you agreed to proceed with the tour. When timing became a concern, we still offered a solution and provided a partial refund for the unused portion.
It was absolutely fabulous the guides Anna and her colleague were extremely knowledgeable, pleasant. I enjoyed my tour throughly and Vesuvius climb was breathtaking

Here’s your warm, professional English reply with emojis, perfect for Viator ⭐️💬
“Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! 🌟 We’re thrilled to hear you had an absolutely fabulous experience and that Anna and her colleague made your day so enjoyable with their knowledge and kindness 🤗✨ The Vesuvius climb truly is breathtaking, and we’re delighted you loved it! ⛰️💙
We hope to welcome you back for more adventures soon! 🚐💛”
If you want it shorter, more formal, or with a different vibe, I can tailor it!
The first bus to Pompeii from Naples was a little warm. The Pompeii tour was great, slightly fast paced but I felt like I saw enough for the time we had.
Lunch was fine, good pizza. No complaints there.
The drive up and down Vesuvius was a little nerve wracking, but the road is steep, narrow, and other people were driving fast. I think that’s just how it is and not really a fault of our driver.
I felt a little rushed when climbing Vesuvius, we were allowed 1 hour and 15 minutes. I think an extra 15 minutes would have been nice.
I overall enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone coming to the area.

Thank you so much for such a detailed and honest review!! 💛 We really appreciate you walking us through each part of the day, it helps a lot
Glad Pompeii left a strong impression even with the quicker pace, and good to hear lunch hit the spot too 🍕 As for Vesuvius, you're right, those roads are naturally steep and narrow, definitely not an easy drive for anyone, so thank you for recognizing that wasn't on our driver 🙏
We also hear you on the timing at the top, an extra 15 minutes would make a real difference for a more relaxed climb, and that's exactly the kind of feedback that helps us look at adjusting the schedule 🌋
Thanks again for recommending us despite these little bumps, hope to welcome you back for an even smoother experience next time 🍋
I had planned this trip 2-3 months in advance and was really looking forward to visiting Pompeii and climbing Mount Vesuvius. Unfortunately, the tour provider contacted me just one day before the trip to say they could not secure the Vesuvius tickets(???) despite my booking having been confirmed over a few months earlier.
Naturally, I was quite disappointed, especially as it was too late to reorganise everything independently for the following day. The tour was adjusted to include Sorrento instead, which meant changing some of my original plans!
That said, our guide YUNIS was absolutely fantastic. His energy, professionalism, and knowledge really helped turn the day around and allowed me to still fully enjoy Pompeii and Sorrento. Yunis speaks English, French, Italian and Arabic fluently and I heard he speaks German and learns Spanish too!
My recommendation to future travellers would simply be to double-check in advance that all tickets have actually been secured to avoid a similar experience.
Very informative and amazing guide-Unice-he was fabulous. We could not ask for a better guide. We would recommend this tour and the guide to anyone.
The guide Andrea (who speaks excellent French) and the driver Michele were 5 stars / absolutely perfect. Grazie Mille !!
It was a fun and informative tour. I really did enjoy the whole day. The 2 hours at Pompeii went by so fast. Our guide Eunice was fantastic. I highly recommend this tour.
Pompeii was a very good experience.
However, Vesuvius was a rush - we only had around 15 minutes at the top after we had gone all the way up/along the path. We would have liked at least 30 minutes or longer to fully enjoy the experience at the top, and have a drink.
Also, the listing was incorrect - when clicking on 'mange my booking' to look at the booking details, it states that a pizza making class is included. This was not included at all!

We hope to welcome you again for another exceptional experience in the future.
It was great having the driver pick us up at our hotel. Our tour guide, Antonio, was a good driver on congested streets of Naples. Our first stop was Pompeii. He directed us to the spot to meet another tour guide that led us through the ruins. It was very interesting. Our Italian guide was from Sorrento, and she spoke English very well. She made the tour fun. After the tour we ate at restaurant on site. Antonio made the reservation for us, and the 2 of us enjoyed a pasta/pizza lunch. After lunch we drove to Vesuvius. Antonio parked while we had the opportunity to climb to the crater. My only problem was eating too much for lunch, then hiking! Antonio gave us a meeting time after the hike. We had enough time to walk to the crater and visit a souvenir shop. Loved the views from the mountain top! I was glad I brought Dramamine for the winding road up the mountain. Tour was great!
We had a wonderful time in Pompeii. There was a little confusion as to who our tour guide was going to be, but Michael was great. I think at the port, at the original pickup point, they should notify us as to who to look for. Our pickup person had a rainbow umbrella and it would have helped to know that. Also the tour company should know what time our back on board is, instead of going with what some of the group says. The ladies that were picked up with us, had the wrong time, an hour earlier. We tried to tell our tour guide when we got to Vesuvius, but she went with what they said, which was wrong so we had to run up the mountain and back down. The original tour guides did not go back with our bus so they missed out on a tip. Confusion. All in all the tour was great but they need to verify with cruise line so we can get the most time out of our tour.
Canceled last minute and left us scrambling to find something that morning. We’re not able to get tickets to Vesuvius tha late. Very disappointing.

Thank you for sharing your feedback.
We are sorry to hear that you felt uncomfortable during the tour. However, we would like to clarify that the experience was operated as scheduled and assistance was provided in English. Our team always tries to support all guests equally, regardless of language or nationality.
Regarding the seating on the bus, seats are not formally assigned, but for safety and organizational reasons the driver may ask guests to keep or change seats when needed. We regret if the communication felt unpleasant, but this was not intended to be disrespectful.
We are also sorry for the misunderstanding with our team. Our intention was only to better understand what happened and provide assistance, not to blame you.
Your comments have been noted and will be reviewed internally to improve communication during the tour.
Amazing place, would recommend a guide ours was amazing, so muchcto see and to give it all context makes it easier
A solid and informative tour. Pompei is incredibly interesting, though a bit crowded, and the hike up Vesuvius takes some effort, but the views are well worth it. A great option for those with limited time who want to experience both in one day
Pompeii and Vesuvius are a must-see combo! Walking through the ruins feels like stepping back in time, and the view from the volcano’s summit is simply breathtaking. Everything was well organized, and the guide made the experience even more memorable!

Visiting Pompeii was an unforgettable experience. The city is absolutely breathtaking, walking through its ancient streets feels like stepping back in time. It is truly a must see, and this tour made it even more special. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!
I joined the Pompeii & Vesuvius day tour from Naples, which lasted about 8 hours and included transport, guided visits, tickets, and a casual lunch. Our guide was knowledgeable and organized, and we had about two hours at the Pompeii ruins followed by a hike to the Vesuvius crater. The views over the Bay of Naples were spectacular. Overall, the tour was well‑structured, informative, and a great way to experience both sites in a single day. Highly recommended!

Rosalina was amazing and had so much knowledge. We received the best historical information and visited all the main attractions. Reaching the top of Mt. Vesuvius was incredible.

Connie was on time to pick us up, where we got on a coach with 21 other people (23 total) and headed out to Pompeii. At Pompeii we were all given a listening device and met a woman who gave us a tour of the site. As we were quite a big group we didn’t get to see all of it and only spent 2 hours here but it was a good insight into the history of the town.
Next, we went to a local restaurant which is clearly a popular stop for tour groups. The food was very good, we had some appetisers and then a pasta dish (meat or veggie option) as well as a drink.
Afterwards we drove up to the drop off point for Mt Vesuvius where we were free to hike up the mountain at our own pace, unguided. Most of the shops at Mt Vesuvius only take cash so worth bringing some along if you want to pick up water or souvenirs.
It takes about 1 hour to walk up and back - the terrain is uneven and covered in small stones so wear sensible shoes. There is plenty of time to stop for photos and travel back down at your own pace.
We then got back on the bus and headed back to Naples. The traffic was quite bad so we didn’t get into the town until 5pm ish but overall it was a great day.

Booked tour for Pompei, lunch and Vusuvius, was messaged via WA that we could only do Pompeii because there was an issue with the park. I asked if it was with the park or with our tour and was told “with the park in general” ….but we have a pizza making class. We won’t refund and you can do the class. I asked what time we would be back in Naples to plan other activities and was told 13:30. On the tour, many others went to Vesuvius. There was no problem with the park but with the tour operations not securing tickets. It should not be offered if they cannot meet their obligations. We did not leave Pompeii until 13:45…making us miss other arrangements. The first 1.5 hours we rode the bus picking up others. While the tour in Pompeii was good once the hearing devices were operating, the tour management overall was very poor. Charged way too much for what was offered and then dishonest about situation for us to book another event through them- not allowing us to use our earned Viator dollars. Book at your own risk.
It is very well organized, punctual, and respects the description. Everything is fine! Alex, the guide, explained in great detail; he is very skilled 💯

Shameful ....
The provider modifies the trip 24 hours before departure by claiming not to be able to have tickets for Vesuvius when we booked in January!!!!

Thank you for your feedback.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, access to Mount Vesuvius is managed by the official park authorities and ticket availability can sometimes change for reasons beyond our control, even when a booking was made in advance.
We understand your disappointment, but the modification was not due to a lack of organization on our side. We did our best to inform you as soon as possible and offer an alternative solution.
Thank you for your understanding.
The visit to Pompeii was great and the guide very well. There were only 5 of us so it was in ideal conditions. The Vesuvius visit was cancelled (the site had informed us in advance and had proposed the visit of Sorrento, which we accepted). Unfortunately, this tour was only a drop-off by the driver (no explanation, no guided tour). The time was too short for us to have time to explore the city for ourselves, we just wandered down a shopping street. So it was disappointing. We took option pizza class. That was very good. If we had to consider only Pompei and the pizza class we would have put 5 stars. But the cancellation of the Vesuvius trip (apparently beyond the organization’s control) and the disappointing alternative proposal lowered our rating.

Thank you for your detailed feedback.
We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the Pompeii visit, the guide, and the pizza class. We truly appreciate your kind words about these parts of the experience.
Regarding Mount Vesuvius, unfortunately the cancellation was due to circumstances beyond our control, and we informed you in advance, offering Sorrento as an alternative solution.
We are sorry to hear that the alternative did not fully meet your expectations. The Sorrento stop was intended as free time to explore the town independently, not as a guided tour, but we understand that the time available may have felt too limited.
Your comments are very useful for us, and we will take them into consideration to improve how we manage alternative itineraries in similar situations.
Thank you again for joining us.
All very organized .. very kind driver and guide prepared and nice ..
