Great tour guide and informative trip around Pompeii. Unfortunately we couldn't go to Mount Vesuvius in the afternoon due to the weather but we were offered two alternative options and chose to go to Herculaneum with the same guide, which was fantastic! Very glad we went there as well, our guide was brilliant. Also had a lovely lunch at Pompeii in between and were picked up/dropped off right by our hotel.

We had a great time on this tour! Pompeii is beyond words and there is so much to see. Our Guide Maria did an amazing job at summarizing the major aspects during our tour. It was great!

The van dripped water on us the whole ride there. I had to beg them to give me 5 minutes in the gift shop. Going to mount Vesuvius got canceled because of the rain. They did give us alternate options, but we were told that if we went back to Naples, Viator would issue a partial refund. So they refused to give us lunch, refused to let us spend extra time in Pompeii at the shops, and rushed us back to Naples. Then when Viator reached out to them, they lied about what happened and now Viator is refusing even a partial refund. These people are scam artists! DO NOT BOOK!

Dear,
we are so sorry to read your negative feedback.
However the Vesuvius park was closed due to the rain and we give all customer altervative tours available that day.
Unfortunately there is no possible refund for those who refuse all the alternatives.
The Pompeii tour does not include lunch and guides have a limited time to spend inside the excavation, that's why we took you back to Naples straight after the Pompeii visit

Although the trip to Pompeii was really interesting, to have part of the day cancelled, when the tour was already in progress was poor, especially as the visit to mount Vesuvius was the reason for booking.
A refund should have been offered just as soon as this was not possible.
Also, it's very odd that other companies are/we're still running that tour.
Response from Host, Oct 2023
Dear,
there were a landscape on the vesuvius and the park were closed.
The other agencies went on Vesuvius anyway but no one were allowed to enter in the park.
We offered you to go to Herculaneum insted to try to save your day and have a good experience.

We originally planned to do the Pompeii/ Mt Vesuvius hike. They use the website vivaticket for you to purchase tickets to hike Mt Vesuvius and there were none available for the date we booked for. It was slightly frustrating as my husband was really looking forward to it. However, upon reaching out to the tour company, they offered two different options to do instead and we ended up doing a wine tasting at Vesuvius after our tour of Pompeii.
The tour of Pompeii was well done. Laura had a lot of knowledge and was nice to help find people shade and take multiple breaks. I’d prefer less breaks but there were other people in the group that I think benefited from them as it was so hot.
Although I may be one of few, I was slightly disappointed that we only saw 3 of the cast remains. I’m unsure if there were more, but I thought there was going to be.
We then we’re driven via bus to Mt Vesuvius Winery. The staff was very nice there and we did a wine tasting with 5 different wines as well as an appetizer, lunch, and dessert.
We even purchased our favorite wine from the winery store.
All in all would recommend for people hoping to visit Pompeii.

The tour organizers were were nice and helpful. It made it a lot easier to do what I wanted to do--see Pompeii and hike Vesuvius. I would certainly reccomend.

The guided visit to Pompei was very interesting.
Lunch was very basic with very small portions.
Visit to the top of Mount Vesuvius was cancelled due to weather conditions. It would have been ideal if the tour operator offered an alternative before leaving Pompei, particularly considering that at this point, the group splits into smaller groups for different excursions.

The Pompeii tour was overcrowded with 50+ people. Vesuvius tour was still better. not worth the money.

This tour company seems to run like a well oiled machine. They’re well staffed, and had our group organized with seamless pickup and transportation throughout the day. We were offered water immediately after being greeted. We were organized into “dominant language groups”, so our guide wasn’t required to repeat things multiple times in different languages. This also allowed our group to become friendly because we all spoke English. When I’m the only English speaker on a guided experience, the language barrier with fellow travelers is usually insurmountable unless they speak Spanish.
We had an English speaking guide for our Pompeii tour, and I found her extremely informative. Pompeii is a big site, and the two hours was used wisely to show us key highlights.
Lunch was good, and the staff were very attentive to our needs.
After lunch, those of us planning to walk up Vesuvius were transported to the site. Some of our morning group was heading elsewhere and buses were waiting to take all of us to our different afternoon destinations.
We had roughly one hour to make the trek up Vesuvius and back down. That worked very well, and I didn’t feel rushed.
If coming to Naples, these two are a must see.

It was an average trip to Pompeii. The trip is not suitable for buggies and the tour guide should state this before leaving the bus. It was a great struggle where the tour guide did not help unless we stated there were issues. We were told it was going to be an English tour, however, it ended up being three languages (English, Spanish and Italian) where you get given an ear piece to listen to the information. This would have been good if it was just English but as a family we gave up trying to listen and understand when the English would be spoken. The earpieces were a touch and go. Not really pleased with the service to be honest. We were restricted to following the tour guide and not spending time to do own exploring.
Lunch was good.
The trip to Mount Vesuvius was great, partly because we got to do our own exploring and the walk to the top of the mountain is absolutely stunning! Make sure you wear appropriate shoes and take water! A great team vibe of encouraging others.

Honestly, I was really looking forward to this tour. I hate to say it but I was disappointed. I am comparing this tour with others I took while I was in Europe for more than three weeks. I found the tour guide pleasant, but not very knowledgeable about Pompeii. The tour did not include any of the artifacts left as a result of the eruption. I thought we would see the remains of the people that were unable to escape. We did see one young woman that was encased in glass....but that's it. Truthfully, I was anticipating the end of the tour thinking.....this is it.....this is the grand finale....but it wasn't so. I wouldn't recommend this tour.
We were also scheduled to visit Vesuvius but because of the weather, it was cancelled. As a substitute, we were taken on a bus tour of the Amalfi coast. It was OK but not what I signed up for.
Leevi P, Dec 2018
Mount Vesuvius was closed due to a landslide so it understanbly was cancelled, of course not their fault. They gave us alternative choice that was a trip to amalfi (which was so beautiful!). Pompeii was great but a bit messy at the begginnign, the rock show thingy felt like just advertising to the company and we wasted a lot of time there. Nothing to complain about pompeii itself, amazing trip and learned a lot there.Restaurant had very good food, got very surpised there. Good trip, worth the moneys.

The weather was awful for the time we were in Naples but luckily the day of our trip to Pompeii and Vesuvius was good as Vesuvius had not been accessible the day before. Our guide was entertaining and full of information, speaking good English. Due to a couple of our group getting lost our time on Vesuvius was short and the cloud had come down by the time we got there so no view!!
Nothing that marred the day was the fault of the organisers, except not being fed in good time as the waiters for our inclusive meal left us alone waiting for our two lost group members as they were not told about the issue.

Bethan_J, Feb 2018
Very knowledgable and friendly guide, which made the Pompeii part of the tour well worth doing as an organised trip. As for the Mt Vesuvius part, the guide waited at the bottom so we didn't actually learn anything. I therefore thought that this trip was very expensive for what it was.
Stephen C, Jan 2018
It was wonderful our visit to Pompeii. The local guide was very knowledgeable in highlighting the history and facts about Pompeii and the Pompeiianos. The weather did not cooperate as much as rain came in and out frequently. But the sporadic rain was not too heavy to dampen the spirit of the trip. I learned a lot about Pompeii. The lunch was quite good and enjoyable.
The Mount Vesuvius trip was cancelled because of the heavy cloud cover. The guides offered to replace it with the Erculano tour, with an additional charge. The visit was very good. May be adding another 30 minutes to the free time would allow to take in more of the site.
Good and commendable guides on both visit!

Got to walk through the Pompeii ruins which was pretty cool. The tour guide was knowledgeable in the history. She pointed out bakeries, shops, the well-known houses of rich or famous people. She took us to what was the brothel! You could tell by the paintings on the walls. HAHA. Then we went to Mt. Vesuvius but the tour guide ended because she waited in the van and did not climb to the top like I did.

we read about history but when you are actually there it almost comes to life great tour view and picture of mount Vesuvius are amazaing ty
Zhirun_W, Oct 2017
All in all I think it was an average tour. The Pompeii part of the tour was ok, and operated along with a few other groups the operator runs a few different Pompeii other destination combos. We basically run through the motion just like most other tours you do in major sites in Italy. For the Mount Vesuvius part of the trip, we were told it was not doable due to windy conditions after arriving the Mountain and was left there for a 15 mins photo time. The operator did try to make up for it by taking us to a seaside lookout at Naples. But I thought the operator could have made some planning and offer some alternatives before we departed for the Mountain. We also overheard some of us speak Italian the operators talking about this issue in Pompeii amongst themselves, so I believe they knew the issue before. Net net I believe it was an average tour and could have been handled a lot better.

The guides were excellent and learning more about the history of this ancient civilization was amazing.
Manuel_O, Oct 2017
We booked a tour in Italian but guides had not been informed and were only organised for Eng and Spanish. They were nice and ended up making the tour in 3 languages. The visit to pompei is too short and too fast,in a hurry and we missed important point like the forum and amphitheatre.Vesúvio was good.
wilhelm.travels, Aug 2017
Disorganized and rushed, lunch was a fiasco. The guide was good leading around Pompeii, but no time to stop for pictures. Rush rush rush! Entrance to climb Vesuvius is NOT included. Worth it, but not included with the tour price.
Neha G, Mar 2017
The tour of Pompeii was great, very thorough. Although we didn't cover the whole of Pompeii the site itself is very big and if you are doing 2 tours in one day it is not possible to cover the whole grounds, we were given an idea of what the entire site entailed and the history.
Unfortunately, we were unable to climb Vesuvius due to weather conditions but were given the option to join one of the other tours in the day, and so we went to the Amalfi coast instead - which is well worth it! Our driver/tour guide was fabulous, stopping all over the city for photo opportunities and great views! We also visited a Limoncello factory on the way and were given free shots of the products.

Amazing and informative walk through the ancient city of Pompeii. The guide was helpful and engaging.
Claudine C, Jan 2017
Both of both worlds. From the ruins to the top of the volcano cause of the ruin . The lunch was delicious!! it gave us energy for the climb.
Glyn_H, Dec 2016
This was good well worth doing but Vesuvius was closed due to high winds so we missed half the trip.
KATHY_H, Dec 2016
A really enjoyable and interesting excursion with enthusiastic and informative guides. Would have preferred a shorter break for lunch to allow more time at Vesuvius.
Jamie_Y, Oct 2016
Overall, this was a very enjoyable tour. We were picked up at a hotel very close to where we were staying. It took a decent amount of time to then make additional stops to pick up other people on the tour. A lot of time was spent organizing people based on what tour they were participating in. Pompeii was great. We had a lovely tour guide who made it very easy to learn about all the different sites within Pompeii. The lunch was enjoyable - definitely a good amount of food. My husband and I then went on to hike to the top of Mount Vesuvius. We were the only two people on this portion of the tour which made it more enjoyable. Overall, I would recommend this tour. You just need to be prepared for some downtime while everything is being organized since there are so many people on the tour.

Amazing experience - great guided tour of Pompeii excellent, interesting guide and amazing location, and facilitated access to peak at Vesuvius. Company could work on its organisation and communication with clients, but once on the activity, it was well run and well worth it!

This was a great tour. We were picked up from the lobby of our hotel UNA Hotel, and driven to other pick up locations. While the pick up was going on, the lady on board told us what to expect and sorted us out based on our destinations. Quick suggestion would be to get all that sorted out in advance and save some time and aggravation to the customers. When we got there, we got a tour of the Coral factory which was essentially an ad for the store, but the advantage to us was clean and free restrooms. Another hitch was that the tour guide had to wait in line to get tickets, albeit a shorter line than others, but it took nearly 45 minutes of waiting before we could go in. Since we already knew the number of people and all that information in advance before we left Napoli, would've taken one phone call to the tour guide already there to get that squared away before the tour bus even got there. Save everyone a lot of time and complaining.
Anyway, once the tour got started, it was great. The guide was very good and he took us all over the ruins in 2 hours and highlighted all the main spots. He definitely made it worth it. Then we were taken to a nice restaurant and given a really large meal that made me want to take a nap right there. Wonderful three course meal pizza/pasta, salad/fish and ice-cream to top it all off. Then we got on another, smaller bus, and drove to Vesuvius must have been a nice ride, but I think everyone was in a food-induced coma. We hiked the mountain its more a leisurely stroll up an incline, my 4 yr old completed it, I saw people in flip-flops doing it, but the view from the top was unbeatable. So worth it, even with the bragging rights of having hiked a volcano. The ride back was smooth and very scenic, and we were deposited safe and sound in our hotel lobby. Other than some organizing issues that are eminently fixable, the tour is definitely worth it.

We were taken care of by Martina, very kind, who made the effort to speak to us in French during the drive to Pompeii. On the other hand, Pompeii’s visit sucked of the audio that didn’t work and a really unsympathetic guide who didn’t speak French and who spoke in Italian at full speed. She didn’t even make the effort to tell us the points on the map so she could follow the audio. Admissions are not even supported in the €100 rate, there is only transportation and a pizza at noon. Plus dessert imposed. Finally, we couldn’t even see Vesuvius because tickets were no longer available. Luckily our driver Nicola was very helpful and very kind.
