Exhausting but worth it!!

Great experience! The day was very busy and tiring but our driver Angelo was so kind. We had an extended time between our entry of Herculaneum and Vesuvius so he took us to a couple of shops to waste some time. After Vesuvius he had arranged a lunch for us that was one of the best meals of our time in Italy. Angelo checked in with us at each destination to make sure everything was going well. He made the exhausting day wonderful! Highly recommend!

Everything Vesuvius in one day

This was my favorite excursion so far on our 11 day cruise. Getting to see Herculaneum first then hiking Vesuvius and wrapping the day up walking through the ruins of Pompeii. We had plenty of time for all 3 activities and time for a sit down lunch. No other excursion did all 3, that we could find and our driver Joseph and guide Mary made everything so smooth.

Luca, our driver/guide, was an expert on the Roman history of Ercolano, Vesuvius and Pompeii. We chose not to do the climb to the crater and we really appreciated that Luca would slow down or make a quick stop just for us to be able to take nice photos. That was a big plus! He is an Italian by heart and soul, he made our trip more immersive.

If you only have a day, this is the way to see and experience three amazing sites. Worry free and easy. Our driver, Luca, was great at getting us to Herculeneaum (2 hours) Vesuvius (90 minutes) and Pompeii (2 hours). And back to Naples! One thing to note is that this service is only for a driver. Admission is on your own (except they were able to get us tickets to walk up Vesuvius, which we were unable to get on our own). And no guided tours are included. Something else to consider. We used a self guided tour for Herculeneaum. Vesuvius was self explanatory. Wish we had a guide for Pompeii. Downloaded site’s app, but not too helpful. And two hours wasn’t long enough!

Could be 5 stars with some tweaks

Francesca (guide) and Francesco (driver) were both excellent. Two things which dropped a 4 star experience to a 3 was that the private car was replaced by a minibus (and there were only 2 of us) and that the Vesuvius ticket site was malfunctioning which caused a delay waiting in the car park. What would make this a 5 star experience would be if the tickets were included and if the guide showed you around (she waited with the car).

Antonio was excellent!! He was polite, courteous, patient, and always on time. He even took time to give us a little tour of Naples afterward. However, know this is just chauffeur service. Does NOT include tix to any sites but “skip the line” are available at pompeii. We did not need skip the line for Herculeum and Vesuvio tix HAVE to be purchased in advance. But was worrh the private car service for sure.

Luca was a wonderful driver for our only day in Naples on our family cruise! He was easy to contact and very knowledgeable about the three sites we visited. He made sure we were dropped off right in front of each area and gave us helpful tips for getting around the ruins and Mt. Vesuvius. When our group was tired, hungry and ready to go, he quickly found us a table at a beautiful, local restaurant so we could recharge before heading back to the port. Pro tips: use the guide service at the Herculaneum. You can walk up to the table right outside the ticket office and sign up for one if you get there early. Luca will take you here first to beat the crowds. This tour does not include a guide once inside the three stops of the day.

Amazing day seeing the cities.

Luigi and Giovani were amazing guides and helped make today a 5 star day. We were at Pompeii when it opened and the first part of our visit felt like we had the city to ourselves. I had knee surgery recently so we didn’t hike the volcano instead Giovani knew about a panoramic view. After a lunch of pizza we saw Herculaneum. We were taken care of the entire time and really enjoyed ourselves.
