A must see in Naples

Excellent activity and must see! Definitely get there early in the morning as it gets very hot. Just be aware that redeeming these tickets is a bit of a process - you have to head to the audio guide desk first where you need to hand over either a passport, driving licence or credit card as a deposit for the audio guides. You’ll then be given vouchers for tickets which you have to exchange back at the ticket desk. It’s a bit of a faff so just be aware that at busy times this adds extra time.

The tour is fantastic, but the audio guide point isn’t obvious so we needed to ask a couple of staff before we could get tickets. Really good audio guide though, we spent 4 hours there and saw pretty much everything. Would recommend this trip.

Do not use this tour operator. We signed up for this tour and were traveling to Herculaneum by train. On the day of the tour, there was a train strike which we did not find out about until we arrived at the train station. Hundreds of passengers were stranded and we could not get there. Due to these unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we requested a refund which was denied because we did not cancel 24 hours in advance. Extremely unhappy that the tour operator denied our refund request. Buyer beware!

Very disappointed in Viator. Local trains went on strike the morning of our tour, and we had no way of getting to Herculaneum. Viator would not refund us our money. there was no tour guide that needed to be compensated for their time. We will think twice about using them when traveling again

We had a day in Napoli...

We had a day in Napoli off a cruise and did Herculaneum in the morning. Spent 2 hours wandering and it was well worth the trip. A very accessible spot to see some incredible ruins and extremely well preserved site. Our teens enjoyed it, too. It wasn’t overrun with people/ tourists and we were able to see this and spend the entire remains of day in Bapoli wandering the streets. Highly recommend.

Easy, Excellent & Convenient Tour

It was excellent!! Everything was so well preserved. Not as crowded as Pompeii which was a highlight!! We didn’t feel we needed a tour guide. We had audio & clicked on when we wanted to know about what we were looking at. I felt this way made us move to our own pace.

Skip the Line tickets and Audio Guide may not be necessary for you.

Visiting Herculaneum is a worthwhile experience. A smaller area than Pompeii, and well preserved. Be aware the Viator map may not take you to the correct entrance location. The entrance is on the south side of the complex. We were directed to the north side and it took a few extra minutes to figure it out. Audio Guide tour is a good idea, but you can create your own experience using asking ChatGPT AI questions. And there is an app that can guide you. Skip the line tickets were not necessary when we visited in June. The amount of visitors was small.

We toured Pompeii in the morning and travelled to this site in the afternoon after a train ride and a long lunch. The place is big, but not as big as Pompeii. We still could not cover everything, but the audio guide gives a good explanation of most of the exhibits. You can go at your own pace and skip things you don’t want to see or listen again and hang around longer in spaces you find more interesting.

Excellent tour to do in 3 hours. Incredibly interesting and worth visiting, important seen history come alive! Although useful, the audio guide was difficult to follow because the numbers kept jumping from one street to the other and went into too much detail.

Herculaneum Skip the line Tickets with Audio Guide

We purchased skip the line tickets with Audio Guide in Herculaneum. While it wasn’t always easy to spot the audio guide number, we were able to get an overview of the places we wanted to hear the story of. Herculaneum is an extremely compact site to visit to take it all in. Although small but definitely worth a visit is the Antiquarium Museum (archaeological finds). The whole experience would take about 3 hours.

The place was amazing and because it wasn’t enormous it was possible to follow the audio tour. Older children interested in history would enjoy it- mine loved it.

Very disorganised. Had to go into one queue to get the headsets, to wait 20 minutes for the lady to work out the booking (2 adults and 2 children). To then be sent to another queue to collect tickets. Then to go to the turn style where we we turned away because we had a bag with us solely to carry water bottles for 4 of us in the 35 degree heat. No spare lockers so hubby had to take the bag back to the car. Then annoyingly we were seeing other visitors in the park with larger bags than what we had. Once in, all was good and we had a leisurely walk around. Children 8yo and 12yo enjoyed the narrative
