Very nice experience with a very well-informed guide (Ivan)! A special activity which you don’t find elsewhere.
Joanna_D, Mar 2026
This activity was just alright. The tour group was massive which made it hard to hear the guide at some points. The underground neat but I thought we’d get to see more. My advice for the next visitor would be to do research on which underground tour to attend because there are different entrances.

This experience exceeded my expectations! The tour under Naples was very educational and the added bonus of exploring where an old theatre used to be added to this. Our guide was very knowledgeable and eager to answer any questions.

Your tour guide will make or break this experience, unfortunately, our tour guide broke it. Four years ago I took this tour and it was AMAZING! The tour guide stopped in every room to tell you about the history, point out interesting items, and tell great stories with a sense of humor that made the experience all come together. It was so great that when I had the opportunity to bring my family to Naples the tour was at the top of the list. The tour now is such a horrible disappointment and such a waste of time and money. The guide spoke very briefly at the beginning, very briefly in the middle, and once in the Roman amphitheater. He would stop in rooms to make sure everyone was together but otherwise say nothing. He would just mumble through an answer to a question that came up along the way. It was awful. There is a place in the amphitheater that you can easily step up and see the “new” apartment built right over the old, he never even pointed it out. Most in the tour never even saw it, he just moved on. He did not give any history as to why they stopped using the water system or when. The WW2 history is just barely mentioned. It felt like before this tour had licensed, (and as part of the license) well educated tour guides. Now they just have hourly employees paid to walk large crowds of tourists through underground spaces. Another couple we met on the tour also said their friend had taken the tour before and it was a “must do!” This tour walks the same steps, sort of, but sadly it is no longer the same tour. Save your money and try somewhere else.

Very worthwhile and interesting tour. Definitely should be included with any trip to Naples. The history is fascinating and the engineering is a marvel, from ancient times through WWII.
Ron_M, Jan 2026
I quite enjoyed this tour of underground Naples covering its Greek era cisterns and buried the Roman temple. Note that there are a lot of steps, dark passages, and times where you need to walk on your side. Not for the claustrophobic.

Great way to spend time while in Naples. Fascinating experience, great guide. Highly recommend unless you’re claustrophobic!

It was fascinating to see a whole underground world and guide was good giving information it was excellent
Michael_U, Nov 2025
This was a very interesting tour. Don't worry if you have claustrofobia as you can skip the narrow section although it is quite safe anyway.
Jean_M, Oct 2025
The guide took just the right amount of time and was very clear with just the right amount of historical fact and background. She warned us of passages that might be uncomfortable with instructions on how to exit if necessary. VERY enjoyable to hear both the ancient history of Naples as well as the underground’s place during world war II.
Memorie_N, Oct 2025
Overall, the experience was a bit underwhelming. The tickets were definitely not "skip the line"--they just mean you don't have to buy a ticket there. We still had to stand in a line for about 20-30 minutes, and the staff at the front managing questions and the lines were not friendly.
The groups they put you in are also quite large, so sometimes it was difficult to hear and see. Our tour was in English, and although our tour guide was very knowledgeable and did speak English, her accent was very thick so I could not understand some of what she was saying--although if we had been in a smaller group, this may have helped with understanding her.

Amazing to see what Naples history lies beneath the surface…Our guide was so informative and professional…Definitely recommend!
WilliamDouglas_H, Oct 2025
Total confusion starting with the smart mouth guides in front of the entrance. Groups are too big for the tour and can’t understand a word due to guide’s acent
Julie_M, Oct 2025
Very cool experience. The narrow tunnels really are narrow and you truly do need to use your phone flashlight. No joke!
Shelton, Sep 2025
Very enjoyable tour around a section of the accessible underground tunnels with some interesting historical facts and an amusing tour guide. Also an extra bonus was seeing a more recent find of a Roman theatre.
LuAnne_L, Sep 2025
Skip the line tickets are not skip the line tickets. You still have to wait in line. Our person that gave the tour was very hard to understand. If you have a problem with steps do not book this.
Simon_P, Sep 2025
Very hard to find totally disorganised :the group way to big with 70/80 people can’t here guide . Biggest issue is much has been filled in with concrete over the top of rubbish . The only item if interested is it was used as an air raid shelter during the war .
Stella_C, Sep 2025
Quite interesting but not worth making part of an essential agenda of Naples.
The tunnels are fake tunnels made over the original tunnels and ends in an experience where you walk through very narrow tunnels in the dark.
Pre trip organisation is stressful - you receive a text message the day before giving specific instructions which on the day the complete opposite is required and the staff shout at you for being in the wrong place (eg meet 20 mins before vs five minutes/ you don’t need a qr code as your name will be on a list vs being screamed at by the lady for not having a ticket).

The tour itself was interesting. If you are not afraid of going underground and looking at the old aqueducts and walking through some tight spaces, it’s a cool place to see. The guide was charming and had ansense of humor but was difficult to understand, partly because of his accent (we booked a tour in English) and partly because of the echo down there. Overall, for the price it was an interesting way to spend a few hours and learn some history of these caverns.

My kids can’t get in , because of Italian tours , we went then 5 pm us two , kids don’t allow around 2 pm . They put me in Italian tour can’t understand at all .
brooke_e, Aug 2025
It was a very interesting tour we loved learning about all the history that had gone on it’s amazing how things were done back years ago and even still now to this day.
Your guide was very clear in all instructions and very approachable

Stay away from DinnerAround - what a scam! . They claim themselves to be a tour operator, but take no responsibility of the tour. We ran 2-3 minutes late as we got lost and were not allowed in even for the next English tour after waiting in the heat for almost 30 minutes . Now note that this is after I messaged the tour operator around 1:30pm to say that we are on the way. They did not have the basic courtesy to even respond or check on us despite all this. All other tour companies we have booked tours with were courteous enough to check on us prior to the tour. They remained silent when I told them that we were on the way and started responding only when I told them that we missed the tour and would like a refund. They could have done something to help us just to ensure we don’t miss the tour
Now after this debacle, I requested a refund of $72 that I paid for my whole family. They rejected the refund request saying that we were not on time. Seriously?! we were late only by 5 minutes and messaged them way in advance to let them know we are also joining.
This is a scam!! What a f***ked up experience - if you desire to have a better experience, please don’t book tours with DINNER AROUND!!

The underground Naples tour was a fascinating adventure. The history of the engineering and stability of the underground tunnels is an education that cannot be repeated in a classroom. ( I am a teacher.) Walking where they did in ancient times AND as a bomb shelter in WWII gave me chills. It was also COOL down there when it was 90F above. There is a narrow space that you will walk through if you want the entire experience. I highly recommend it. Our family of 13 adults loved it, minus my brother who was a little freaked out which I found hilarious.

Such an interesting tour plus it’s nice & cool if you want to escape the heat. Highly recommend this tour.
Lizeth_D, Jun 2025
The tour guide was nice but all other employees(also guides but not for our time slot) very rude, very disorganized entry, needed to wait in line even if we paid skip the line.
susie, Jun 2025
We had a skip the line ticket but had to ask 5 people before we got to skip the line. The tour was good but the start was not.
Stacy_A, Jun 2025
Naples Underground was very interesting and went well. Unfortunately the group was so large that we were stuck in the very skinny tunnel before the pool while the guide was talking about that area of the tour. We missed a significant amount of the guide’s communication due to the very large group size.

A fun and unique way to spend an hour in Naples. Learn about Roman engineering and grab lunch at a near by cafe in the old part of town
Greg_S, Jun 2025
Definitely must visit and learn about an extremely interesting part of ancient Naples history. Walk gets a bit narrow but generally doable. Only reason I rated it a 4 is that the entrance is a little chaotic, there are multiple lines and tours that begin at different times so it can be confusing. Also during the tour you hear other guides speaking which can make it difficult to follow.
Paul_W, Jun 2025
Very different view of Naples. Guide explained everything very well. Definitely not for the claustrophobic! Walking the old water channels, cisterns and WW2 air raid shelters very interesting.
