Really straightforward way of doing a walking tour at a time that suits you, and at a pace that suits as well. Easy to set up and follow, added links in the app and good audio quality. Content was excellent as well! Recommended.

Great option to take your time to see the important sites. It was really hot that day, so I opted to drive from stop to stop, instead of walking. Since it was Labor Day, the entire downtown area was desolate, so I could pull over and didn't have to look for parking. The narration was easy to understand. The sound effects really added to the experience.

This was an informative and interesting tour. It was paced accurately and the speaker was easy to understand. Directions were clear and we never got lost or turned around.

So educational and interesting. I knew a lot of this history but to hear it while walking in the actual place it took place made it come to life. And while the events are horrific, it was told factually and not with bitterness; even though anger and bitterness are legitimate reactions and feelings.

Very informative

It was a very good presentation. I actually paid for the presentation again. Plans became a little confusing because.
Good introduction to the civil rights story in Montgomery.
Bill_F, Oct 2025
Good experience. I like the fact that you can interrupt the tour for museums and the continue afterward.

If nothing else, do this tour!

Excellent EXCELLENT walking tour, great audio, easy to follow. Lots of superb information. We learned so much about Montgomery and went to places we otherwise would have not seen!
For the Culture
Billie_R, Jun 2025
The navigation in the app was paced well and accurate. I recommend visiting the museums along the way to cool off. The Rosa Parks museum was exceptional. Although it's not on the tour, visit the Alabama Bicentennial Park which is a spectacular bronze statue Park right before the Alabama capital.
Very cool experience....
Lance_B, Apr 2025
Very cool experience. Little quirky getting it set up downloading the app not paying for it twice etc, and had trouble viewing the pictures that were talked about. Walked to some places and i guess i didn't get to the correct spot so I would fast forward it to get the narrator to come back on. I liked it though.
App not user friendly
Stephen_W, Apr 2025
Do not try to use unless you are smart phone smart. I am and gave up.
Finally called to get a refund
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Sorry this did not work out for you. To take the tour, you get the WalknTours app, register and unlock the tour. As we discussed, I sent a link but. you did not download the app :(. Every day travelers take this tour, and share positive reviews. I'm sorry it did not work out for you. To note, this was refunded :)
Excellent self guided tour

A well narrated tour of Civil Rights history in Montgomery. The app worked well, the directions were clear, and the content was top notch.
Freedom
Sherrie_W, Jul 2024
Great tour. A wealth of personal testimonials, and seeing close up allowed us to experience the Movement as if we were there in real time.
Illuminating History
Donna_B, Jun 2024
The tour was insightful and illuminated the history I was not taught in school. I find it interesting that the beginning of the Civil War and the Civil Rights movement were both in Montgomery. Where there is darkness, the light is able to shine the brightest. Thank you Rosa Parks, Dr. King and all the other brave women and men for the light you brought.
A welcome education
andrew_h, May 2024
A moving experience. Being from the UK neither of us was as aware of the past wrongs that we should have been
Good addition to the area.
Scott_S, Mar 2024
Good walking tour. Not a difficult walk if you are in any kind of shape. Definitely makes the area come to life. It would not have had the impact walking the path without the narration and sounds. Note: there is one part where police sirens go off in the audio….don’t freak out like I did. :)
A must see
Ron_R, Mar 2024
need to edit my previous post. I neglected to check my email which all the directions were listed. Communications with the tour guide excellent. I missed the audio version of the tour because I did not open the appropriate link for from his email.
The tour is absolutely beautiful, very well preserved old town Montgomery, Alabama. The walking tour reveals a lot of American history in the flight for civil rights for our brothers. The bravery of Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, and so many others is evident in this tour. It is a messy if you are in Montgomery. After you purchase the tour, please check your email!
More adversed in Civil Rights and Alabama!
Joe_B, Mar 2024
The self guided tour was very well laid out and very informative. You can take as long as you need and days. We learned alot from this Walk of Freedom. I would definitely book it!
Check your email after purchase
Ron_R, Mar 2024
We were unable to locate the link in the email. We ended up walking a tour, parts of the tour on our own. We never got a chance to listen to the audio. The walk was still beautiful and fascinating and reading. All the signage was useful, but just a little mad at myself that I did not find the links in the email sooner
Great Summary of civil rughts in montgomery
ELAINE_H, Mar 2024
this was a great look.at the history of civil rights. What a role Montgomery played!
The only complication was that a bad storm came up and we had to delay to the next day. TheViator app would not give me access ... they sharef walkntours phone number and i quickly got access. Viator reps need to be aware this tour has indefinite access.
Seem 9k. But don't know.
Bruce_S, Feb 2024
Got there to do the walk, but changed mind. So we did not walk. Signs were well displayed of the history.
Montgomery 1/1/24
Ken_B, Jan 2024
We went New Years Day. The street were virtually empty! Felt like we had all of Montgomery to ourselves! Tour was informative, good pace, she spoke clearly, etc.
A step, proving, we shall overcome , this day.
Brenda_B, Dec 2023
The people we walked with and shared this moment of the DREAM we share, here in our common home. Rosa Parks, especially, walked beside me. A woman I more and more love.
Interesting
Vicki_L, Dec 2023
Was helpful to know a little more of the history on our walk. Directions were clear once we were able to download it.
Very informative
Amy_A, Nov 2023
Very informative. I liked the narrator's voice. Could have used a little more time to get to each stop, but I pressed pause on the audio tour. The only thing that would make it better was if it looped around so you ended up where you started (and parked the car!)
The freedom of doing this...
James_H, Nov 2023
The freedom of doing this tour virtually allowed me to move at my own pace. In fact, I broke up the tour over two days, allowing me to focus on other work.
Interesting, informative, inspirational
Trinity_N, Nov 2023
Interesting, informative, inspiring! How amazing to walk the same paths as MLK and Rosa Parks. We also went to the Freedom Riders museum, which was also amazing.
Excellent Tour
Brian_L, Oct 2023
The whole experience is eye opening. Very well put together and a great experience. Each stop is detailed out in an excellent narration.
Great tour!
Maria_G, Jul 2023
Very informative and fun. Clear directions and efficient route. Best place was Chris's for hot dogs and ice cold beer.
Good tour
Peter_K, Jun 2023
Overall the information was very informative. We did have difficulty on one of our phones with the full audio playing. It was as if it was a CD that was skipping.
