Itinerary
Skip the long lines and get right inside the Prado, Madrid’s most famous art museum, during this guided tour covering its top highlights. This insider’s discovery of this top-notch cultural institution is sure to give you a new perspective on Spain’s incredible art history.
Start your visit outside the Prado and receive your priority-access admission to the museum, allowing you to jump right past the crowds and head straight inside.
This incredible art museum is one of Spain’s, and Europe’s, finest, covering more than 9,000 paintings plus numerous sculptures, drawings, and prints. Learn about the museum’s founding as you wander with your guide. Originally devised by King Charles III in the 18th century, the collections housed in this neo-classical building soon outgrew the space available, resulting in two further expansions.
Follow your guide as you visit some of the museum’s top pieces in chronological order, beginning with a look at the work of Hieronymus Bosch including his The Garden of Earthly Delights and The Seven Deadly Sins. Proceed next on an exploration of the works of Spanish Renaissance artist El Greco, whose output includes sculpture, architecture, and painting. Learn about his unique style as evidenced in his work The Annunciation. Continue to view Las Meninas by Velazquez, considered by many to be one of the most iconic artworks in Western history. End your art tour with a look at The Family of Carlos IV by Francisco Goya, a work that includes an image of the artist himself — an unexpected decision at the time it was painted in the 19th century.
End your Prado visit inside the museum, where you can continue your exploration at your leisure.

The meeting point directions was not clear and my party walked around the building until we finally found our tour guide, who by the way was horrible.
susan_t, Nov 2025
Be specific on where to meet your guide. Have your guide hold a flag or bright umbrella so we can find you.

Guide did not show up or respond to messages. Refusing to refund Met at location and guide did not arrive.
Ada_N, Oct 2025
This tour sucks! DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!!Never got an email or text cancelling activity until 10 mins before while we’ve been waiting and got up early to be on time until I wanted to send a message to Julia’s tour operator about us trying to find the guide is when I saw a message in the website giving some BS explanation for cancelling and at that point was too late to buy tickets to the museum as it sells out week in advance
Response from Host, Oct 2025

We’re very sorry to hear about your experience.
Please note that we contacted your agency on September 9th to inform them about the cancellation of the tour. We sincerely regret that this information did not reach you in time and caused such inconvenience.

This tour was amazing. Our guide was so knowledgeable and she really showed us her favorite and more exciting parts of the museum. Goya's Black Paintings from this trip are my favorite to this day and I'm writing this review 3 years later.

I’ve never left a tour early before this one. First we were told to meet at and start at one time and then no one was there and no one told us anything. Then when someone finally did show up the volume on the microphone headsets was extremely loud and painful to our ears. Once inside our tour guide said she would show us only the most important things but then spent 45 minutes of what was supposed to be 1.5-2 hour tour in 2 rooms. It was painfully slow so we left to do our own thing. We way over paid for the worst experience.
Eden_N, Apr 2025
The tour company no show! Even I call they said they changed the meeting point! But never noticed us , I waited the meeting point they sent to my email before . Not just me, few people still waiting them but NO SHOW!!!

Very difficult to find meeting point...very disorganised at meeting point...very poor audio equipment
..guides english was very basic to such an extent that information she gae was misleading...we booked for a 1pm tour...did not get thru etrance until nearly 1.45....we left tour after entry
CherylMadeline_M, Mar 2025
Guide was late. Location link was imprecise. Technology was not workiing properly on my device; there was static throughout the tour. Needs work, has potential.
Daisy_L, Mar 2025
We were so glad that we had a skip-the-line tour since it was raining and unusually busy. Our wonderful guide, Anna-Christina got our group's tix right away + helped us get in.
Once inside, she led us on a very informative tour which went "overtime," because she was so enthusiastic about the artwork! It was a pleasure to be guided through the museum by someone who obviously enjoys her work. She was also light-hearted and fun! She gave 200%!

Hard to find the person that was the guide . We had to ask where we can find them and no signs or nothing. Find another company for guide

Our tour guide Lisa was exceptional! From the minute she introduced herself and explained the guidelines for entrance into the museum, we were impressed. Once the tour began she displayed her exemplary knowledge of the art with detailed narratives of highlight pieces while she navigated all 10 of us from room to room of the museum with ease on a very crowded Sunday afternoon. She ensured for our safety, comfort and kept us engaged with questions. Upon completion of the 2 hour tour, she guided members of the group to retrieve items from lockers, and she provided details for those who wished to extend their visit.
Reflecting upon our museum visit, all 4 of us felt our tour experience was phenomenal because Lisa was our guide!
Denise_M, Oct 2024
Miguel did a great job. Highlighting a number of paintings and giving different perspectives of them. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
Lisa_C, Sep 2024
Excellent tour of a fantastic museum! Our guide Paula Lopez was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about all the paintings, sharing with us interesting extra facts and legends. The artwork and sculptures are amazing but without the tour we wouldn’t have appreciated everything nearly as much!
Porfirio_A, Sep 2024
Guided through a museum maze to impressive art pieces by a tour guide explaining the backstories in an animated manner.
However, when we arrived for our 9am tour, we were told it was for 12:30pm.
Paula Lopez tour guide was excellent at 12:30pm.
Lisa_G, Jul 2024
Our guide was friendly & knowledgable, you could tell she loved her job. She was able to explain things so even a non-art history person could understand and appreciate the works.
Jane_Z, Jul 2024
Overall the service is bad, the operator couldn’t explain clearly about the meeting point (we followed the map showed in Viator and arrived early but couldn’t see the group), when we asked if we can go back to the museum entrance waiting for the group, she said no and refused other options we proposed such as letting the tour guide call me or me contacting the tour guide etc. When things got stuck, the operator suddenly said the group is already at the museum entrance now, then we rushed to the entrance, again she failed describing effectively what the tour guide looks like, also failed to explain where exactly the group entrance is. As the result we missed the whole tour due to this unhelpful and inflexible service! We had to buy tickets ourselves in order not spoil the whole plan. Of course, they said nothing they can do if we missed the tour, never said sorry about their incapability of providing help!

Thomas_A, Apr 2024
This trip was great Anna Christina was very knowledgeable about the art, the artists and the museum.
Lisa_C, Apr 2024
Our guide knew an incredible amount of history and was able to tell the stories behind the relationships of the people in a lot of the paintings. It was super interesting.
Josephine_C, Apr 2024
Great tour! Easy access to tour guide. A very pleasant experience indeed!
My entire family enjoyed it.
Tibor_G, Apr 2024
To be in the Prado was emotionally uplifting, but apparently the museum totally ignores basic rules of enjoyment of viewable arts, such as paintings: you could not even get close to any of the meaningful pieces, even though we paid a premium price for our tickets. Very disappointing!
Debra_M, Mar 2024
We went in mid-March to miss the crowds. Of course the Prado Museum is very popular and so there were a lot of people even so, even in the "skip the line line." The wait wasn't bad and we had a chance to chat with others in our group as well as the guide, whose English was very good and who had lots of knowledge and details on the art we saw. Actually Kind of mind-blowing. What a great place. It inspires one to learn more about the classic art world.
Lavi_V, Feb 2024
I was a bit concerned about the bilingual tour but the tour guide was excellent, keeping us moving seamlessly from painting to painting and letting us use the few minutes in between (when he did the Spanish translation) to wander to view other paintings within the same room or nearby and kept the large group interested throughout with his little tidbits of information! Thoroughly enjoyed with my teen and pre-teen!
Michael_C, Jan 2024
Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. Enjoyable way to spend part of a day and learn about Spanish history.
Diana_P, Dec 2023
Th guide was excellent, great audio and explanations.
The details about every piece of art he explained was spectacular.
David_B, Oct 2023
Sophia did a good job in spite of pretty impossible odds. The museum was extremely crowded, and it was difficult to even see the Bosch painting because of the crowds. Also, FYI, the meeting point that you gave me was incorrect by a block.
Response from Host, Dec 2023
Dear David_B
Thank you for sharing this review,
I am glad to learn that you did enjoy the Prado tour despite the inicial difficulty,
I apprecite your nice words about our guide Shopia,
Best regards
Joyce_S, Oct 2023
Wait to get took 40 minutes for our skip the line tour, then the Prado staff kept rudely rushing our guide out of every room we went into because it was packed. The tour guide seemed to be training and her English was not great so between the crowds and that it was very hard to follow. Overall it was not the experience we were counting on
Response from Host, Dec 2023
Dear Joyce_S
Thank you for sharing your feedback,
I regret to learn that the Prado Museum was not satisfactory,
Kindly take note that even though the tickets are purchased in advance; The Prado Museum’s special conditions for group entrance indicate that every official guide must be accredited to enter, please bear in mind these proceedings can not be skipped or rushed. It is necessary to take into account our guides are officially accredited by the local government, and tested regularly in their language skills.
Sincerely,
Steve_L, Sep 2023
Our tour guide did a wonderful job of describing the details of the various paintings. Being able to get into the museum without waiting in line was great.
