Be prepared for an exceptional experience. This was perhaps one of the best wine tours we have ever participated in. We were in the wine business for 13 years and went on many winery visits. Ishmael, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and made our trip to the Ribero Del Duero area seamless. We visited three wineries and had a minimum of three wines to taste at each one. This wine region has always been one of my favorites and this tour certainly did not disappoint. All of the wineries offered food for us to enjoy while tasting the wines. Every winery was unique in its own right. The first winery was a new startup. They have been in business since 2018 and their red wines were just coming into their own. The second winery was a beautiful state of the art facility. Before visiting the last winery, we stopped at a small town for a delicious tapas lunch. The third winery was the oldest winery and the most fascinating. There are a series of tunnels that run several kilometers underground. The winery itself dates back many centuries. This is a must do side trip if you’re planning on traveling to Madrid. It was worth every penny.

We had a great time on the tour! Ismael was informative, patient, kind guide! I so enjoyed all the different wineries - It was three very different vibes at each winery which was so nice to have in a short trip to a region. I would do it again and again! We went with a group of couples and a solo traveler and had the BEST time. Tasted amazing and unique wines and learned about some unique history and wine making techniques!

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for such a thoughtful review. It’s wonderful to read that the different personalities of the wineries made the day feel so varied that's exactly what we look for when designing this experience. We'll be sure to share your kind words with Ismael. Thanks for joining us, and we'd love to welcome you back for another wine adventure in Spain.

Day of wines in Spain

Richard_M, Jun 2026
Pleasant day in the Spanish countryside. Informative about both the wine region and wine making process. Lunch was a little chaotic but enjoyable.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Thank you for your feedback. A day in Ribera del Duero is about much more than the wines, so it's nice to hear you enjoyed learning about the region as well. We appreciate your comment about lunch too it's a popular local spot and can get lively, but we're glad it was still an enjoyable part of the day.

Great wine tour experience

David_C, Jun 2026
My wife and I were joined by another couple and a group of 3 to travel to the wineries. The trip was comfortable in a Mercedes van. Our guide Ismail was very knowledgeable and gave us just enough information and very relevant history. Each of the winery hosts were very passionate and interesting and the tours and tastings were both high quality and informative. Although I have attended many such tours and tastings throughout the world, I still learned new things on this tour, which says alot.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

It's especially rewarding to hear that even experienced wine travelers discover something new on the tour. We appreciate your kind words about Ismael and the winery hosts. Thank you for joining us.

Ishmael was absolutely the best tour guide we have ever had! He was so knowledgeable and kind. The tour was great fun! We visited 3 very different and very lovely wineries, and Ishmael took us to a wonderful local spot for lunch. The wine was magnificent and Ishmael was a perfect tour guide. James_G, Dec 2025
Excellent way to experience the Rioja wine country. We saw three wineries and had ample opportunity to taste some great wines. Mina, our guide and driver, spoke very good English and was knowledgeable about the area, and had an engaging personality. A day much enjoyed!

Wine not

Zoraida_B, Nov 2025
Excellent tour for wine lovers or if you want to learn about wine starting from the grape seed a finishing enjoying the final product . Our tour guide was Ismael, very knowledgeable about the whole wine process and the 3 vineyards we visited were excellent , very different among them and that’s what I loved the most . You get to experience wine from different owners within the same region of Rivera Del Duero . I recommend this tour 100 %.

Outstanding vineyard experience

Erna_M, Nov 2025
Wonderful tour from beginning until the end. Ismael, our guide, was exceptional. His knowledge of people and the region is outstanding. He made sure that everyone in our small group was comfortable with the schedule which he communicated very well. The choice of vineyards, and order by which we visited, was awesome and we had plenty of time at each location. It may seem loke a long drive and long day but very worth it.

Ribera del Duero wine tour guided by Ismael

Joan_S, Oct 2025
Our guide Ismael arrived at the pickup site 10 minutes early to give everyone enough time to meet and get in the Mercedes Sprinter. There were three other couples taking the English-language tour with us. While the van had seating for 9, it really was a bit cramped. Ismael speaks excellent English - we had no difficulty understanding him. He provided an overview of wine making history in Spain during a part of the drive and gave us quiet to relax and enjoy the scenery on the rest of the 1.75 hour drive from Madrid. The itinerary included three wineries: a rising star boutique called Territorio Luthier, a large mass producer called Bela, and a small multigenerational winery called Val Sotillo, with lunch (not included in the price) at a local tapas bar with authentic cuisine and atmosphere. The experience at the two small wineries felt up close and personal, with the chief sommelier at one and the owner at the other. My husband and I purchased wine from both of these to have shipped back to the States. The sample pours at all three were generous, with a minimum of three tastes of about a half glass each. Each winery also served crackers, cheese, and salami so that we weren’t tasting on empty stomachs. 10 out of 10! Highly recommend!

Response from Host, Oct 2025

The Ribera del Duero wine tour through its wineries, tasting the local Spanish wines of the region, couldn’t have a better expert guide than Ismael to make the gastronomic experience in Ribera del Duero unforgettable and authentic. Thank you for sharing your feedback and recommendation!

Fabulous winery tour

Meg_M, Jul 2025
This was an informative and enjoyable day in Ribera Del Duero. We visited three unique and different wineries. The wines we sampled were of the highest quality and each winery shared their passion of wine making, and explained the differences in the wines selected. The food accompanying the wines were also delicious and generous. Our guide Ismael was also passionate and knowledgeable about wine making and also was very familiar of the region. He was also very entertaining and friendly. It was a perfect day out and I highly recommend this tour to both novice and expert wine aficionados. 10/10

Fun Family Outing

lesliesgro, Apr 2025
An excellent wine tour given by Ismael. He was knowledgeable about the region and the wineries. It was a fund day that got us out of Madrid and into the beautiful Spanish countryside. We drank some good wine in some lovely locations. If you have the time, this is a wonderful way to spend a day.

Response from Host, Apr 2025

Leaving Madrid behind, trading the noise for vineyards, and letting yourself be guided by someone like Ismael who knows the Ribera del Duero vineyards like the back of his hand is, without a doubt, one of the best winery tours in Spain. Because this isn’t just about drinking good wine (though that certainly helps), it’s about experiencing authentic wine tourism in Spain: understanding where the wine is born, who makes it, and why it tastes like heaven. Thank you for trusting us with one of your Madrid day tours. We’ll be here among barrels and landscapes, deep in the heart of Ribera del Duero wineries waiting for the next glass with you. What a pleasure it is to read reviews like this, truly!

It was wonderful driving...

Mary_N, Mar 2025
It was wonderful driving out of the city and seeing the countryside. The first winery was so great with lots of history. I really enjoyed going into the wine caves from 400 years ago! The wines we tasted were very good. The tour guide, Muna, was very knowledgeable and filled us in with many facts about wine in Spain . And the guides at each winery were very expert and gave us much knowledge. Our group size of 6 people was perfect too. It was a very enjoyable day for my husband and me!

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Those 400-year-old underground cellars are truly fascinating, right? A real journey through time with a glass in hand! 🍷 Muna is a fantastic guide, and we’re happy that she shared so much knowledge about Spanish wine with you. We love knowing that you had such a special day. Thank you so much for sharing your experience, and we hope to see you again on another wine adventure in Spain. Cheers! 🥂

Long day. Definitely worth it

Kathy_S, Oct 2024
The wineries we visited with Ismael were all wonderful. From a new small producer to one connected to a large winery. All of the wines were wonderful representations of the region and the wine maker’s passion. We had lunch in a tavern and shared plates. It IS a very long bus ride at each end.

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Spectacular winery tour!

Leslie_M, Jun 2024
What an amazing tour! Three very unique and picturesque vineyards. The trip was nicely balanced in education so there really wasn’t much overlap in information between the vineyards. The wine was spectacular. Antonio our guide was very knowledgeable about wine production, tasting and history. The restaurant he picked was excellent and off the beaten path. Loved every minute of our time and group.
