We had an absolute blast with Daniel on this tour. It really was a fun and authentic look into Madrid! Daniel was fun and engaging, and it was great to go to tapas spots that we wouldn’t otherwise have found on our own. It was a small intimate group so that made a huge difference in feeling like a small authentic experience. Would definitely recommend!

Itinerary

Meet your guide in Plaza Isabel II to begin your Madrid Historical Walking Tour and kick things off with your first wine tasting. Sip a glass of fine Spanish wine and tuck into delicious Madrid-style croquetas as your guide offers an introduction to Spain’s winemaking history and heritage.

Then, follow your guide to the historic quarter of La Latina, stopping to admire the medieval buildings and learn the fascinating history of the barrio. Along the way, visit two traditional taverns and sample a variety of Spanish wines, including Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and white Rías Baixas wines. To accompany the wine, tuck into a feast of scrumptious tapas, including local specialties ‘pinchos’ or ‘tostas’, sliced crunchy bread heaped with fresh ingredients; savor a delicious plate of "huevos estrallados", a mix of fried potatoes, Iberian ham, and fried eggs, a local favorite; and a platter of traditional cold-cut meats and cheeses.

With your appetite sated, stroll back through the historic streets of Madrid and end your tour in Plaza Mayor.

Daniel provided us with a wonderful afternoon walking the various neighborhoods while showing the architecture of different eras. He was extremely knowledgeable of the history and political past of Madrid. We went to 3 small tapas places where the food and wine were top notch. I highly recommend this tour.

Daniel did a great job. He told us the history of the city took us to great places to eat and taste wonderful food. Our last restaurant, Casa Nicasio, he ordered a special meal for us to have the following evening. I would highly recommend his tour, I even suggested it to other people on another tour of a museum we went to.

It was a fun tour with a knowledgeable guide who spoke perfect and perfectly understandable English (no accent). It is a lot of standing. It would be better for older clients if the guide found a place for us to sit while he told us the fascinating history.

Beware if you get sick.... I tested positive for COVID less than 24 hours before the tour. While I was not feeling well and was a little panicky trying to salvage my whole trip because I had just arrived in Spain from the US, I forgot to message the tour until right before the tour. I found out later that I could've gotten a partial refund had I contacted them earlier but I had no clue. I did what I could under the circumstances. I did get a 10% refund, which is why I have given 2 stars not 1 star.

Hello again Christopher, once again, as I mentioned in previous messages, I'm terribly sorry about the Covid situation you went through. Unfortunately, if I cancel on the same day, my suppliers charge me, if you had cancelled 24 hours before, you would have gotten a full refund, or even if you had contacted me or cancelled early that morning of the tour, I would have been able negotiate with my suppliers, buy you sent me a message as the tour was starting.
