Itinerary

Depart from central Madrid in the morning, and drive to the first winery.

During your time at the winery, discover a variety of vintages as you savor a cross-section of the red wines raised in this famous region. You also get a few tips about Ribera del Duero’s history as a wine region and learn about the typical wine styles produced by local winemakers. Then take a break for lunch in mid-afternoon (at your own expense), offering you the opportunity to pick a local restaurant where you can sample some of the typical cuisine of the Castile and León area.

Following your lunch break, visit a second winery and perhaps a third. Then, you have the opportunity to select from a number of potential activities in the area starting in the late afternoon. Depending on what you decide, you might check out any number of charming medieval towns or ancient castles. Among the options are Peñafiel, Pedraza, Aranda de Duero, Segovia, Riaza, and Peñaranda, among other choices. Return back to Madrid in the evening.

Excellent guide with great stories and food recommendations! Ignacio even made a few extra stops to show us some great views and interesting things like an ancient wine press machine and a giant oven for roasting lamb. Very engaging and informative tour, and my whole family enjoyed it!

Perfect day out to Ribera

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the outing to Ribera del Duero. Ignacio picked us up early and he started sharing the history of Madrid and onwards on the wine making and different styles between RDD and Rioja. We visited 2 vineyards ie Bodegas Valsotillo and Bodegas El Lagar de Isilla, and had lunch at the El Lagar restaurant. Firstly the wines at both bodegas were lovely, and they gave generous tasting pours. Lunch at the restaurant was excellent! Do order the lamb cutlets as it just melts off the bone. My friends still talk about the best lamb dish they had in this trip. Ignacio made the trip very engaging and he was very knowledgeable on the history and wine making techniques. Would highly recommend this trip to others.

Wonderful Wine Tour from Madrid

We were a party of four and we were fortunate to be the only ones with Ignacio. This was the highlight of our one week stay in Madrid. We travelled comfortably in a nice van up to the Ribera del Duero wine country. Ignacio was entertaining and educational sharing Spanish history and the history of the wine in the area. We visited 2 wineries with different methods and approaches to wine making and learned SO much. We also had a delightful lunch in Aranda de Duero with authentic cuisine where we sampled and shared various dishes. It was a long and lovely day and adventure. I highly recommend this tour. Ignacio is a delight. He's kind, competent, and thoughtful.

Excellent guide with a very memorable experience at 2 wineries. We also had a spur of the moment visit to Castillo de Curiel with magnificent views, beautiful chapel and rooms. Lunch at an old water mill with authentic cuisine. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely time with Ignacio who was happy to share Spain’s history on the ride to the wineries. We had an incredible couple visits learning about the history of wine making in the area, the wine was fantastic and both wineries were very hospitable. We had a nice lunch at a local restaurant where Ignacio ordered a bunch of traditional items for us to try. Certainly a highlight of the trip. It’s a long day but it didn’t seemed rushed and would highly recommend.

An Amazing Wine Tasting Experience

After being let down two days before our wine tour by Gourmet Madrid as we were only a small group of three, (they were happy to take us but with an additional payment of €100} we booked on this alternative wine tour with Winebus guided by Ignacio who was happy to take us. We had a wonderful day, visiting three bodegas and enjoying an amazing lunch in a beautiful restaurant in Aranda del Duero. Ignacio was a perfect host and guide with an incredible wealth of knowledge about the Ribero del Duero región. He did everything he could to ensure we had a memorable day, returning to Madrid late in the evening armed with an increased knowledge of wine production and several bottles to take home!

Ignacio was so gracious, fun and flexible. We were the only two booked but he didn’t cancel on us like other companies! He took us on a private tour of the three wineries, doing a great job of highlighting the industry and how these three were very different. We had amazing wines and a lovely lunch in Aranda del Duarte with his guidance on great things to sample. He took us to two castles as a bonus and we sat and had a class of purchased wine on the last one! A lovely way to end the day! Book with Winebus - he will take care of you!

Fabulous day with fabulous guide

We had a fabulous day trip from Madrid into the Ribera del Duero wine region. Our guide, Ignacio was full of stories which he told on the almost 2 hour ride to the region. We stopped at 3 completely different types of wineries--one huge one owned by a corporation with a beautifully architected main building, one small one employing cavesfor the fermenting process and storage, and one that had innovative methods and strong marketing strategies, incorporating a restaurant and hotel into the experience. In each, we got tastings as well as explanations on their production methods of wine. This was a great way to sample the different methods each winery employed while also sampling their output. Also, Ignacio took us to an excellent restaurant (cost not included in the tour so we were not restricted in what we ordered) that was owned by one of the wineries and was actually sitting on top of the original caves that housed the wine bottles from the winery. Ignacio was very attentive to our preferences for food and wine and how long we wanted to spend at each stop. Our day was actually longer than we had paid for, because Ignacio wanted us to get the full experience and have fun while learning about the region, its history and culture.
