Overview
Many Jack the Ripper tours focus on sensational details rather than historical context. This guided walking tour takes a different approach by centering on the lives of the victims and the social conditions of Victorian London. Walk through the streets of Whitechapel while learning about Jack's victims—Polly, Annie, Elizabeth, Catherine, and Mary Jane—and how poverty, housing, and employment shaped their lives. Your guide explains how the crimes affected the local community, offering a more thoughtful way to understand this chapter of London’s history without relying on shock-driven storytelling.
- The concise tour fits perfectly into busy itineraries
- Go beyond the guidebooks as you challenge your knowledge of the crimes
- Journey to the real streets and locations connected to the 1888 Whitechapel murders
- Gain insight into a well-known story through lesser-told accounts—something many miss out on
Why Travelers Choose This Tour
Unlike many Ripper walking tours, your guide centers the victims, not the criminal.

If you are in London you can’t go wrong with the Jack the Ripper tour. You get a great feeling for the times of the Ripper and seeing where it takes place allows the story to make sense.

Great tour! Arne, our guide, was amazing! He was considerate of the younger children- not getting too gruesome. Learned new facts
David_W, Aug 2026
Arne was an excellent tour guide. He brought enthusiasm and energy to his performance. The tour was interesting because we learned not only about the Ripper’s murders and his victims (in all their gruesome details), but about the era’s social and economic circumstances that made their lives so bleak and helps explain the official response to the killings. Rather than hearing retold myths and legends, we came away with a better sense of who these unfortunate women were.

Our family enjoyed the tour, including 2 teenagers. I wouldn't bring younger children on the tour due to graphic imagery and stories. Ivan was fantastic- he took us around to several locations and answered questions as they came up.

This is a WALKING tour. Be prepared with the right shoes and a drink. We covered lots of ground, but be prepared to be on your feet for the entire two plus hours
Linda_L, Aug 2026
This tour was amazing! Ivan was a great and knowledgeable guide. Be prepared for a lot of walking. So worth it to be in the areas where the murders occurred. I highly recommend this tour!

What a fantastic experience! The Jack the Ripper Tour was fascinating, atmospheric and incredibly interesting from start to finish.
Walking through the historic streets of Whitechapel and the East End really brought Victorian London to life. Our tour guide Nick was knowledgeable, engaging and a brilliant storyteller, explaining the history and mystery surrounding Jack the Ripper in a way that kept everyone interested throughout.
I particularly enjoyed learning about Victorian London, the locations connected to the case, and the different theories surrounding the identity of Jack the Ripper. The guide balanced the darker history with interesting facts about what life was actually like in the East End during the 1880s.

We participated in the Jack the Ripper’s tour with a fabulous guide called Arne. What a complete ⭐. He was so knowledgeable and friendly
The tour was fascinating and I would highly recommend it was great value too. We went to areas of London which we would not have seen as visitors. Wonderful

VIATOR should post a photo of the meeting point location to ensure the customers can find it accurately without any delays. For example, meeting point for the Ripper tour was St Mary Whitechapel Memorial. The actual location is now a park and you cannot tell that it’s a memorial without anyone telling you that it was a former chapel that was bombed in WWII. Some of us had to google the location photo to ensure that we were in the right place.
The tour guide showed the group photos of the Ripper victims and suspects after two hours of the tour. Some of us had to recollect who that photo was and the story about it. Recommend to show photos while the story about that person is being told to have a better understanding of the story that was being told.

So much history! Martin did a great job of explaining everything accurately and in a fun way they held our attention. I highly recommend taking this tour if you’re in the area!
