Itinerary
Your afternoon pub tour begins in the City of London. Meet your guide and set off for the first stop of your tour.
As you walk, spot major attractions such as St. Paul's Cathedral and the bustling Fleet Street. Pass the former site of a Shakespearean playhouse, then pop into the art nouveau Blackfriars for a drink. Grab a pint (own expense) and enjoy colorful stories from this neighborhood's banking community.
Next, head down Fleet Street, flush with pubs and gin palaces once frequented by the journalists and literary greats of the day. Stop at a proper London boozer to buy yourself a delicious local ale (or two), admire the authentic medieval decor, and enjoy the buzz as regulars and newcomers fill up the wooden tables surrounding the horseshoe-shaped bar.
Continue along Fleet Street, the former stomping grounds of Charles Dickens. Visit a 17th-century pub that was a favorite of Dickens and fellow writers such as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Alfred Lord Tennyson. Sip on a delicious beer or cider (not included), and soak up the literary history of the place.
Your tour ends at the edge of Covent Garden with plenty of time (and insider information) to continue the fun at another local pub.

This is my 2nd time taking this tour, I have gone with both Dave and this time around with Will. And both are excellent tour leaders. Each has their own group going to different local pubs with excellent talking points about history. So if you're interested, either guide are excellent and make a great time for making memories.

Sir, if you wish to have a just notion of the magnitude of this city, you must not be satisfied with seeing its great streets and squares, but must survey the innumerable little lanes and courts. It is not in the showy evolutions of buildings, but in the multiplicity of human habitations which are crowded together, that the wonderful immensity of London consists - Dr Johnson (Cheers!)

We've done a bunch of these pub tours when we visit London, and this may have been the best one yet. Fred was a great tour guide, providing a ton of good information while being hilarious and engaging with our entire group. Good beers (and gin) at each pub, with quite a bit of variety. Would highly recommend, and would repeat next time we're in London.

Fun afternoon spent exploring historic pubs around the City.
Very well organised and our guide Will had some very interesting stories about the pubs we visited.
We visited 4 pubs in total. I’ve worked in and around the city for most of my career but hadn’t visited any of the pubs we went too. I liked the fact that the tour was organised for small groups. I believe on the day there were 3 groups in total and we all visited other places so it wasn’t too busy. We had tables reserved in the bars so we were able to sit while we sampled the recommended ales.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Liquid history at every sip. Cheers to that!
Zhene_L, Apr 2026
My tour guide, Freddy, was knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining. I was a solo female traveler and both he and the rest of the group made me feel quite welcome. His suggestion of what Bermondsey brewery I should visit the next day (the Kernel) was top notch and I’m very glad I went. Freddy was able to answer all of my pub, architecture, and beer-related questions. I’d hoped to read ahead of time about which pubs the tour visits, but since they vary depending on the day, season, and maybe even by the request of a tour guest, I just had to trust that we’d go to some interesting ones. I’d definitely recommend Freddy to any of my friends visiting London.
Response from Host, Apr 2026

Knowledgeable guide visiting out of the way pubs you might not find yourself. Handy tips on the different beers and alcohol each pub sells. Time to have a drink on each pub we visited. Great opportunity to meet other tourists.

Kevin was a wonderful guide. We visited 4 historic pubs, and he had stories about each of them. He also provided info about the part of London we were in and its history. As a bonus, he recommended beers based on our preferences. I definitely recommend his tours.
