This was a fun way to get around the city for a day. All in all we hopped on three times. The tube would have been faster and less expensive but you get to see more sitting on top of the bus. We might consider this again.

Big Bus Tour busses are not as frequent as other tour buses and the end times are too early. We were not aware that the cruise stopped at 6pm and did not have a chance to get on the boat:(

Hop-On/Hop-Off Bus Tour

The tour itself is great… get to see many sights from the Blue, Green or Red Routes. It’s nice as you can hop on or off to explore as well. Only issue we encountered was, and this is our WORD OF WARNING… make sure you have your driver scan your ticket/QR code when you start your first “get-on” to the bus. We purchased our tickets a little later in the day and started our tour a few hours before the buses stopped for the evening. When we went to hop on, they forgot to scan our tickets and when the tour was over for the evening, they said we could come back the next day to finish up the remaining time since it was a 24 hour pass. The next day comes and when we tried to get back on they scanned our tickets, they said they were invalid as they were for the day before and never scanned originally. So just be aware. The cruise portion of the ticket was fun. Got to take a one-way ride down the Thames River to see London from the water. All in all, worth the money, just a little hiccup along the way.

Big Bus is awesome!

We booked ahead of our trip to make sure we could take best advantage of our time. Having tried both, I think the blue line covers the most area and has most of the red line stops on the blue line route with others in addition. Ride the whole route and make now of experienced you want to explore further. Staff is helpful and the narration is interesting and informative. We really enjoyed the Thames cruise, we could have spent more time on it. Perhaps next time! The Jack the Ripper walking tour guided by Kevin was excellent! We weren't able to do the Harry Potter tour or Westminster tour. Again... next time. The only negative thing was on our last trip the driver didn't stop at our stop so we could get off... my husband had to navigate the stairs on the moving bus to get him to let us off and we had to back track to our hotel. (We were staying right next to the stop he missed (stop 25).

Beware before purchasing through third party

If you purchase tickets through viator they will not give you an option to extend the ticket. Also poor customer service from some of the reps at the stops who basically said “too bad”. The app told us could extend but payment could not go through. The customer service agent on app through messages stated use could not extend because used viator for purchase. However one agent said he could extend for us but was getting a higher price than what app showed. They serve thousands of people. Don’t seem to care if a customer is unhappy. They will just get money from someone else.

It was ok. Busses fill up fast, seem to be behind schedule all the time, and the app doesn’t have great gps that will leave you guessing. The blue bus just seemed to never show up and when it did it was 100% full.

Disorganized mess

This tour was a mess from the very first step. The pickup directions we were given were simply wrong, and we ended up missing several buses because of it — not a minor inconvenience, but a completely avoidable failure on the company’s part. When we finally got on a bus, it was so overcrowded there was nowhere to sit. We were stuck standing on the lower level for the entire ride, unable to see a single thing we’d paid to see. The nonstop stopping and starting with no visibility made my son severely carsick — a direct result of the company overbooking the bus. Then the driver stopped mid-route and announced he was taking his lunch break and we’d all just have to sit and wait for another driver to show up. No apology, no urgency, no acknowledgment that people had places to be and money invested in this experience. When the second driver arrived, he had an unpleasant odor which added to the already hellish experience. We gave up after three stops. Between the incompetent logistics, the overcrowding, and a driver who clearly didn’t care about the people on his bus, this company failed at every level. Do not waste your time or money here — there are far better tour operators out there who actually respect their customers.

Great way to see London!

The hop on and off bus is a great way to see London, but bring your patience! There’s so much traffic in London that the buses move slowly or are standing still. It’s a better way to see the sights than the tube tough. The Thames River cruise was the best part!

This was a good overview of the city. Lots of busses and the app was good. Definitely do this at the beginning of your trip to help get your bearings and maybe plan an excursion toward one of the farther out stops. We also had the Thames cruise which was okay.

24 hours is not enough

This is a good way to see the highlights. We opted for the 48 hour pass and cruise. We traveled on it Thursday and Friday. Traffic jams are terrible. Our first day we got on the bus at 820 in Paddington and never got back until 5ish and only did the cruise. Otherwise we never stopped to visit any of the attractions. The cruise is well worth

Very disappointed. Not our first hop on hop off, but definitely a bad experience. The directions to find a pick up point were no existent. Two buses were dirty. The drivers were rude. The first driver decided to make it a day, we were on the bus for over 5 hours for a 3.5 hour tour having passed by the same location 3 times didn't make sense. I feel I should get a refund.

Abandoned by Big Bus

River cruise was a nice addition but no one could/would direct us to the Big Bus stop from where they drop you off on the boat, had to fumble around a while to find, and when we did, the bus driver assured us it would be taking us back to the stop we needed by our hotel by Tower of London. Well, at the west end of the loop, driver pulled over and stopped the service, abandoning us. He felt terrible(Newton) but said his relief driver didn’t show up and his supervisor told him to just leave us!! We were shocked and dismayed that a supervisor would say to abandon us so far from where we started! We are in our 70’s and had to figure out your underground on our own. Terrible service considering what we paid ! We feel we should get some money back

Waste of time - Should have booked a tour with a guide

From start to finish, this was a poor experience. - App is not well developed. For the amount of people this tour serves, need to invest in upgrades. Route stops overlap and dont show the appropriate numbers for each route. Timing of the arriving buses is not accurate and/or real time. - Upon checkin the operators were rude. Asked for assistance splitting our ticket prior to activating (as the instructions stated) and the employee disregarded my request, walked away and left us confused. So in order to board the bus had to activate and unable to split allowing our party to go their own way -Travelling on a weekend, expected it to be busy however on the blue route we sat at a stop for 10 minutes with no announcements. Then we saw/heard an operator telling people waiting in line that the driver needed a break and we would have to change busses. (All notices stated drivers would switch, not require passengers to switch) We were not at the correct stop when this happened so the bus we were transferred to was where we had just been. This was 30+ minutes in. - This driver then went off route to avoid a road closure (understandable) and the messaging stated we would be notified when we were near another Big Bus stop. We drove by MANY big bus stops without the option to disembark losing out on time to view those sites. We then drove back IN to an even more compacted traffic jam with toad closures and finally after sitting in traffic another 15 minutes the driver allowed us to get off bus. The entire bus exited. - This took 1.5 hours of our afternoon and left us off in a place which didnt allow us to complete our tour in a timely fashion. Missed the one site I was most looking forward to, Buckingham Palace grounds and unfortunately was forced to see the same sites multiple times due to drivers going off route. Would not recommend and will not utilize this operator in other cities in the future. I am not one to often leave poor reviews, and our party has competent travelers. Understand to expect delays, however the time that waa taken away from us was due to Big Bus employees not the crowds in London.

Not worth the money!

London shuts down for the guard change for 2 hours. The tour guide told us to wait at a stop without informing us, also there was a sign on our closest stop saying that stop wasn’t in service and it was.

It felt very unorganized....

Nice time in London

The bus driver was very helpful. The narrative was good. Just be aware of where you are before 6:00 when service stops. Can be a little frustrating.

Don’t Bother! Take Tube!

Too many people for too few buses! Missed several sights due to construction. We rode for 2 stops and got OFF. Horrendous experience!
