Every visitor to the museum is required to undergo a security check which can lasts around 15 - 30 minutes
You will climb 463 steps and there is NO elevator
The 3 - day pass is from the date you reserve when booking. But the Dome climb is a timed ticket and must be strictly respected. Other attractions can be visited after exchanging the voucher for physical tickets at the meeting point
Opera del Duomo Museum is closed on the first Tuesday of each month
Cathedral may be closed for liturgical reasons without notice
Every first Sunday of the month, the Baptistery closes at 2 PM
The Cathedral and crypt remain closed on Sundays & during Christian holidays Shoulders and knees must be covered
If you have purchased tickets for 4 : 30 PM, please contact us in advance so we can provide your tickets and ensure you can enter the Cathedral before IT closes at 3 : 45 PM or visiit another day so this timing will not affect your visit

The excellent knowledge of the guide about everything ! He was very welcoming and made time for us to see everything we wanted to see. He helped keep us together and didn’t push anyone to move along faster than they wanted to.

Kindness of others

My dad fainted from the heat, the entire group was unbelievably kind. They didn’t continue the tour until my dad was taken care of. The guide clearly knowledgeable. I’m sad we didn’t get to fully use his knowledge. He went and grabbed the medics and stayed with us. As far as personal touch and not being just a number in a group, they really nailed it. It was a huge kindness. Unfortunately we left Rome the next day but when we return I plan to do this again and get the full tour.

This trip was amazing and our guide Claudia was brilliant and told us so many things. Go early in the morning - we had the trip at 9:45 and there were soooo many people but you could still take photos.

Bad experience with viator

Unfortunately this trip didn't quote go to plan, I visited Rome for 4 days over Easter. I booked 2 trips with Viator, neither of which happened. The first one the underground colosseum tour was cancelled by them the day before and they had no space to rebook me. This one was even worse they let me turn up to the meeting point along with other people, without informing me that this too had been cancelled. We waited 2 hours for someone to turn up then was informed that it had been cancelled by another person who had managed to get through to someone. Unknown to us the vatican was closed on Easter Monday, but viator allowed us to book it, this was the last day of my holiday so I was unable to reschedule it. What I didn't know was viator used another company called tours about who have bad online reviews, if I gad known this I wouldn't have booked. When we next visit Italy I'll be sure not to use Viator for my excursions

Quote: “A guided tour of the Vatican Museum, with Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica” ➞ false! The tour stopped before entering the Sistine Chapel and due to the kilometer long line we couldn’t get into St Peter’s Basilica. The tour guide was absolutely boring. The whole experience was pretty unorganized. The only good thing: you don’t get lost in the Museums.

Best Tour Guide ever

Our tour guide Pasquale was the very best so far on our trip. He explained everything very well, was thorough and had personality, he was very funny at times. Maintained a good pace to the tour. One criticism of the company providing the tour was the detail of the pick up point ... it was very obscure. We were the only people at the advised meeting point. I phoned the company once the stated start time had past ... to be told we would be picked up very soon. Once they came we were taken to a temporary tour office ...Our name was not listed while our viator travel voucher confirmed our booking. It turned out to be a great tour but the organisational side of the business needs work.

Beautiful place. The guide left us many times. Way too crowded. I am from nyc and this is worse than the trains & time square. We went early and it was still bad.

Très chouette sélection de notre guide, très prévenante , aimable et sympathique, pour une visite aussi gigantesque que représente ce musée. Par contre , nous pensions dans l'énoncé, avoir aussi la basilique St Pierre.

"Visite en petit groupe".....il n'y a que le titre. Dés le départ, le lieu du RDV n'était pas le bon endroit, nous n'étions pas les seules dans cette situation, divers points fixés aux personnes. Pas inscrit sur la liste des participants. Entrée coupe-file….45 minutes de queue. Le guide….un humour un peu particulier et déplacé. Des explications très difficiles a comprendre avec les audio guides vu le bruit, la foule. 2 Oreillettes auraient été plus adéquates. On a eu l'impression de faire un marathon dans le Musée du Vatican, dans la Chapelle Sixtine, pas le droit de s'arrêter pour contempler les peintures et dans la Basilique Saint Pierre quelques explications du Guide sans une visite commentée. Conclusion….activité bien chère pour 2h30 de bain de foule.
