Viator rep was not there on time. No apology or concern expressed. Having spent time waiting for the rep I discovered that we could have easily done the audio tour for a fraction of the price. Basically I foolishly got totally ripped off. My own fault for not properly researching things and trusting Viator

Meet downstairs on the other side of the lobby from the river. Viator team went above and beyond to help us when we got lost. The tour and building are magnificent.

The guided tour is run by the Parliament… not Viator. Viator buys you tickets at a markup and then you just go in at the next open entry time. The tour itself is through an automated audio guide in your own language and is well done and worth it. But what the Viator guide does is not much, other than buy the ticket. And yell… lots of yelling at this one family because they didn’t buy exactly the right ticket for their baby. Very unpleasant. But the Parliament is spectacular and a must see. And the automated tour is well done. If you are far enough in advance, just buy your tickets directly from the Parliament… it’s the EXACT same tour experience and less expensive. BUT be aware that there are only a limited number of tickets available for online purchase. There are tickets available in person day-of, but it might not be the exact time that you want. Bottom line is buy your tickets a couple months in advance directly from the Parliament ticket website. But if you don’t do that and they are sold out, then your second best option is Viator because you can count on the tickets and the time of entry. If your plans are flexible, then you can buy in person day-of.

If you visit Budapest, this tour well worth the time. The history lesson and guides were helpful. Seeing the crown jewels and honor guard was a view into the Hungarian history.

Look at the images on the Viator site and you will have seen the main features of the tour. If you enjoy being one of 35 or so people shepherded along a prescribed route with a position controlled audio guide then this tour might be for you.
Approximate cost per adult :
EU citizens £17.
Non EU £35.
Non EU Viator customers £59. - and, while Viator, in the first instance, take your money your tickets are obtained by a third party from the ticket office a few minutes before your tour.
Need to cancel - clearly stated ‘no refund’.
Arrive late, for whatever reason, outside of a prescribed time ( not mentioned in the original booking) - no ticket and no refund. (Ouch!, for one couple booked for our time slot). Your decision.
Look at the building from outside or even better from the river after dark - spectacular.
Hopefully a change of Government in Hungary will bring with it a new morality regarding ticket sales and laws relating to ticket pricing.

Overpriced and very disappointing. Building IS beautiful, and audio tour was informative. BUT, it felt like could been done as a 15 minute photo op tour was stretched to 45 minutes to justify the high price.
Then in the single most impressive part of the building architecture— you’re not allowed to take photos. Overall, very disappointing..

This is basically a ticket pickup. Just go direct to the site and book your own tickets. Not worth any premium.
Overall the building is grand but not a must see.

Very nice. We got 3 drinks. Options include juice, water, champagne. Air conditioner could run higher when we are having heat waves.

Parliament House is definitely worth seeing. It is a magnificent building. The audio tour was informative. However, the cost at over $100 per head was excessive for a tour which only lasted around 45 minutes. We were also unimpressed to arrive at the appointed time and being kept waiting on a hot day for the tour organiser to arrive. We felt that this was an example of demand pricing for a popular tourist attraction. Try booking directly on the official website but book well ahead.

The pre experience information/communication was great, clear to understand. However, when we arrived at the Parliament visitor's centre to meet with the Viator guides it went a little pear shaped. They were not where they said they would be at the time stated by them. We were left hunting around the very busy reception area trying to locate them. An official from the Parliament building saw us and took us to the two guides who were sort of tucked around a corner having a conversation! They then proceeded to herd their crowd to the stated meeting point and were quite abrupt with everyone. Certainly not the most friendly Viator representatives I've dealt with in the past. The tour of the building itself was amazing, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. This tour is a must do for anyone visiting Budapest.

This operator is basically a ticket scalper. If you buy tickets directly from the Parliament Ticket office, they are approximately $45 USD. This operator charged approximately $80 USD per ticket and provided no service other than retrieving the distributing the tickets outside the entrance to the tour. Surprised Viator allows this.

It was very difficult and confusing to find a guide to give us the ticket. We were told to be there half an hour earlier and she showed up only 10 minutes prior to our scheduled visit.
Even after her arrival, it took a long time to find our way where the actual entrance was and we were given a ticket for 15 minutes later then our schedule time was

The parliament tour itself is good and should not be missed. The problem is that tour operators buy all of the tickets months ahead, so they are not available (ie sold out) online (I tried beginning 6 months prior to our visit!). For a non-EU citizen, the regular cost from the government web site is $42, but booking through Viator cost me $150 for two people - all they do is meet you at the door and hand you the tickets to enter.

Easiest way to get tickets but you overpay for the privilege.
Buy tickets directly to save a lot of money. The guide literally just hands out tickets and says that you are on your own now.

Viator SUCKS. The tickets are impossible to access, even tho they say they are up. The venue didn't accept what Viator sent. Their directions were miserable and the tour guides checking everyone in were late.
However, the Hungarian Parliament building is gorgeous! And the tour is well run. They do a good just of letting you see everything and explaining it. Definitely worth doing, just don't book through Viator.

Since it's difficult to obtain tickets in advance to see the Hungarian Parliament from the official website, this was an easy and efficient alternative. The Viator staff (Akos and Liah) arrived on time at the scheduled meeting point and stayed with us until the audio tour began. It was an excellent tour of this magnificent building. I would have liked more time and a chance to see other parliamentary areas that might be open to the public.

Leah, the guide was obnoxious and rude as soon as she arrived. She screamed at a woman, “You gave me a different name, you made a mistake!” Rosie tried to help another traveler with an issue and Leah got involved and escalated the situation leaving everyone else in confusion. Leah then collected all
Documents and went off to the ticket counter without giving instructions to us. When people did not hear her calling out names to return documents and hand out tickets, she made comments and demonstrated her frustration. She should not be a guide. I have never had a guides with such poor customer skills. Rosie tried to helps but she also was frustrated with Leah’s comments and rudeness.

Easy process to receive tickets and be given directions to start the tour. The visit to this incredible building is a must for anyone who comes to Budapest, especially to appreciate its rich and often tragic history and to see an incredible feat of architecture and design. The tour is with an easy to use audio device that comes in 26 languages and guides you through the various rooms. You are kept strictly with your group by building staff but they give you plenty of time to see all and to take photos except in the holy crown room which is strictly forbidden. After the tour is completed, you can visit in the history room which you should take plenty of time to view. All was done well and we really enjoyed it.
