I highly recommend taking this tour, especially if you’re new to Budapest and want to get a feel for the city’s charm. My sister and I spent the afternoon with Anita, and it was like walking the city with an old friend. She’s very warm and personable, and the tour felt effortless. I loved the intimacy of the experience — just the three of us walking and talking, and I feel like we got a real grasp of Budapest, which has helped us plan out the rest of our visit and make the most of out time. Anita also had great suggestions on what to see and restaurants to check out on our own. It was a great experience.

Anita was delightful. She was so knowledgeable and took us to unexpected places we would never have found if we toured on our own. She also gave us phenomenal recommendations for restaurants, public transportation, and other sites to visit during the rest of our stay in Budapest. Anita was relaxed and so hospitable. We are still eating leftover strudel from our tour.

Petra was an excellent guide, fun and knowledgeable. We chose the 5:00pm tour, but St. Stephen's Basilica closes at 6 so we were told we needed to reverse the itinerary to make it in time. We didn't see the Jewish Quarter or Simpla Kert, but instead we stopped for strudel.
I don't recommend the 5:00pm time, but the tour was excellent.

Anita was a wonderful guide! So friendly and personable. Tailored to my level. This is a high recommend!

Walked for miles with 0 communication in between spots.
Even ended it early because it was so bad.
Good English though when she did talk.
And it was only the 3 of us on the tour.

Perfect way to see the essentials. Knowledgeable, friendly guide and efficient on-foot coverage. Exactly what I’d hoped for.

If you have not been to Budapest before and you want an overall overview of the city highlights plus the history, this is the tour for you. It is a one on one tour, no hearing devices required, no flag to follow , no crowd to navigate. Our guide Petra was a local girl and very knowledgeable on the history.

This was our first visit to Budapest and did not know a lot of the city's history. Our tour guide, Anita Barta was exceptional. She walked us on a story from the very beginning of the city, including from the migration of the Magyars through the heartbreaking occupation by the Nazi's and the solum shoes memorial for the victims of the Holocaust along the shores of the Danube. We also experienced the transition from Soviet influence to today's independent Hungary, including visiting a statue of Ronald Regan in independence square! We had a delicious snack of local strudels and finished at a festive Christmas market at Saint Stephen's. Anita did an excellent job and we strongly recommend this tour.

Anita was a great travel guide! She was prompt, very informative, catered to our needs, and was delightful to be around!

Wonderful experience spending an afternoon with Petra. She was incredibly kind to meet us at the train station (as our train to Budapest was running late) to begin our tour. She guided us around the key sites of Budapest, explaining the history and cultural relevance of each location. I highly recommend this three-hour tour and it's an extra bonus if you're lucky enough to have Petra as your guide.

Anita was a great tour guide on our first morning in Budapest! Our family really enjoyed this tour! Highly recommend
Craig_J, Dec 2025
Anita was informative and gave a great history of Budapest. She was fun to walk around with and the strudel stop was perfect (I visited that restaurant two more times during my visit!).

Would definitely recommend!

Perfect tour. Anita was very knowledgable about the city and history. She showed us some great places that we would have missed on our own. We had great conversation and it was a treat to spend several hours with such a lovely guide.

Anita was fantastic! It was a gloomy, cold day in Budapest and yet we loved every minute! Having a private tour is so wonderful, because we could stop and take pictures or ask questions whenever we wanted! We got to learn so much history about the area, as well. Highly recommend!
Craig_G, Nov 2025
This was the best excursion we’ve have ever taken! We saw all the great sights and even some of those best kept secret places! You don’t want to miss this one! Anita went above and beyond! She took her time and even made sure we got back to our destination in the quickest way possible! Thank you Anita for showing us the beautiful city of Budapest!
Tina_S, Nov 2025
Anita was a great guide. She shows us the sites and shared a lot about the history of Budapest. She also helped us identify things we should see the following day when we have just a couple hours.
Renee_V, Oct 2025
Petra was a knowledgeable and fun guide. This was so worth it. The cost included not only her excellent guiding but strudel, coffee, and entrance to Basilica.
Rickey_T, Oct 2025
Anita was very knowledgeable in the area. She walked us around to the site in an excellent pace. Stopping for the strudels was a great touch. Definitely recommended.
John_H, Oct 2025
Can only rate our tour guide (Anita) the maximum, as she was both knowledgeable and engaging... the hours just rolled by!
Logan_N, Oct 2025
Anita was an absolutely delightful tour guide, incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming. After a great afternoon, she even helped me plan other tours and events for the rest of my stay in Budapest. Anita was also very accommodating to me, as I am visually impaired, she made finding her at the meeting point very easy and helped me figure out how to get back home after too.
Niloo_E, Oct 2025
We had a lovely morning with Anita on the Pest side of the city. She showed us many sights and we learned so much about Budapest’s history & culture. Anita is very knowledgeable and kind. She made a list of recommendations (restaurants, activities, must-do’s) for the rest of our trip and marked them on a map for us. She even showed us how to buy a metro card. It was a wonderful tour that we highly recommend!
Maria_L, Oct 2025
We so enjoyed our private tour with Anita. On a walking tour she showed us the highlights and took us to places most tourists would never see . . all of which were interesting and memorable. For instance we went to the third best bar in the world, called Simple Garden, located in an old apartment building located in the Jewish section of the city.
She is very personable and knowledgeable about the history of the city and made the tour more than a walkabout and instead an intimate and informative experience. We will certainly travel to Budapest again and when we do we will sign up for another tour with Anita.
Diana_T, Sep 2025
Anita was our guide and she was fantastic. We did some walking and we did some real conversations about all kinds of things, including food and cooking - our passions! We got a stop at a strudel shop and with her helped tried things we never would have. She is quite knowledgeable about the history of the area and we learned a lot. Budapest is so beautiful and has had such a remarkable history, it is much more meaningful to see it through the eyes of a local resident and expert. These are tours to take the first day, Anita had lots of helpful hints and we did just about all of them!!! (Anita, we did not have time for Opera tour, but next time!!)

Anita was wonderful showing me places that I had not seen previously.
Including “Shoe Memorial” on the shores of the Danube.
Very moving.
Also Strudel House and great tour of St. Stephan’s Basilica and funky bar in the Jewish quarter.
Great tour a a wonderful guide.

Anita was an outstanding guide – interesting, friendly and well adapted to our requirements. She also gave us considerably more time than we had paid for!
Angel_R, Sep 2025
Our walking tour with Bridget was fantastic. Her knowledge of the city's history and culture was evident in every story and detail she shared. She didn't just point out landmarks; she brought them to life. We left feeling like we had truly connected with the story of Budapest. I highly recommend this tour—and especially Bridget—to anyone looking for a meaningful experience.
Kathirkamathasa_V, Sep 2025
Bridgette was a very good guide. Did an excellent job explaining the history of Hungary through the years. Friendly and engaging.
