We the night cruise was absolutely stunning. We had a great view, windows were large and clean. My only complaint is they played random pop music (quietly) which seemed an odd choice. Really great value though and I’d highly recommend.

It starts with the parliament, so yes the 30 seconds of going past the building is all you get. Price for the value i guess. Sit on the side facing the parliment, there is about 5 seats whereas there is 50 on the other side. The blocked side gets the view.

Not as advertised. No a/c as listed and makes it seem as if the boat is a lot nicer than it is. Also has hanging lights which makes it harder to enjoy the evening sights. And one side of the boat is completely obstructed
XiaoPing_D, Aug 2026
It was crowd, and cannot see well with half of the seats. If you squeeze to the front, you may be able to catch some good photos
It worth to try other boats that offer drinks or food, which may have a better quality
Tet_Y, Aug 2026
A very crowded cruise. We paid for 5 tickets but only managed to get 4 seats. Was expecting to see the parliament building lit up at night but it didn't happen.
ShuChi_L, Aug 2026
Really pretty at night! Get there at least 30 mins early if you want a better view (the line gets long during summer or peak travel).
Ayanesh_M, Aug 2026
There was no air conditioning on the boat, even though that is the first thing promised in the tour.
Val_M, Jul 2026
Great value for money, audio points out and expands on the history and places of interest. Beautiful experience.

We were greeted with a smile by Ildy when we get there earlier. She is very accomodating and fun to speak with. Great customer skills.

It is Ok, very basic, The boat has a small bar and bathrooms, We took the 8:30 pm boat and was great. Recommended in summer time pick the right size to have a better view of the parliament light out on the top.

Very smooth, stable ride on the boat. Eric was our excellent guide who spoke as a native English speaker; other languages were available via location-based app. The history was fascinating and the views were incredible.

Delightful and informative way to spend an hour. We took the 8:30pm cruise, leaving as the sun was setting. Photo op of the Parliament building starts with the sunset and ends with the lights of the building.
For one hour, Eric told of us the history of Hungary and the history behind every building that we saw. His input added to the enjoyment of the evening. Try to be on one of his cruises.

My wife and daughter liked this, but I have to say that I was not particularly impressed. Here's what was good and what was lacking.
The good:
1. We went at twilight, right as the sun was going down, which made for good pictures - and everything lights up after dark, which was beautiful.
2. There is a downloadable guide that goes along with the tour and there is a screen up above on the boat that tells you what things are and a fun fact or two about them (remember Pop-Up Video? kinda like that).
The not-so-good:
1. This tour is run by Purpleliner, not Viator - if I did it again, I would just book tickets with Purpleliner (why do I keep booking tickets with Viator?!)
2. The boat is enclosed - big windows all around, but a full ceiling. I had envisioned an open-air cruise, and this was definitely not that - you could only see out the windows near you, and it was hot and stuffy inside. You could go outside and stand on the back deck with all the smokers, but that was pretty crowded and like I said, standing only - plus: no Pop-Up Video up there.
3. The directions were correct (the written directions) but the indicator on the map was in the wrong place. If they just said: "follow the signage for Purpleliner because that's what this is" that would have made it easier for everyone.
So bottom line: I would recommend a cruise on the Danube at that time of day, and maybe even with Purpleliner - but I would look for an open-air boat and book directly... not through Viator.

Everything went smoothly. Departure was on time. The views of the buildings and bridges were absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend this tour.

Fun tour and very cosy. The host Erik, looks like a viking with a cool beard, was very informative and accomodating. Highly recommended.😊
Andrew_S, Jun 2026
Very smooth and enjoyable experience. Eric knew his stuff and the history was very interesting. Would recommend

Sunset tour at 7pm was ideal as there were not so many passengers. Audio guide was a screen and I felt could have been improved.

Purple line offers a very solid river cruise. It’s run efficiently, and you get to see all the major spots between the main bridges. My only quarrel is that it’s kind of loud. They encourage you to download an audio guide with lots of historical detail, but there is also a live tour guide giving info, too. The live guide has less detail but more personality and humor. It’s not possible to listen to both, and unless you go out on the back deck, you will hear the live guide over the public address system. One audio guide or the other is enough. I suppose that’s a quibble. It’s a lovely tour.

We were there early in the evening so only about 10 people total were on the tour. I guess the best time to take the cruise is near sundown when the light is at it best. It still was a interesting tour.
Asha_A, May 2026
This was a lovely experience, the guide Eric was very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. The lights of Budapest are amazing to see from the water. Would recommend.
Kamaljeet_S, May 2026
Great cruise. Eric gave a wonderful 1 hour narration on the history of Budapest and it was an amazing experience
Renee_A, May 2026
Nice activity, easygoing and relaxing. Boarding was easy and efficient. Comfortable seating. Beautiful lighted night view of buildings, bridges etc…worth seeing.
Robyn_G, May 2026
Boat has absolutely tiny upper deck at rear. Gets full of smokers and people not interested in commentary, all talking very loudly. Commentary sounded great (the little we heard) but they turn the speakers down at rear of boat so even harder to hear. Probably fine if you are happy to stay indoors (why)? Also, there is no early entry to boat so the queue is really, really long before boarding! Note that boat leaves from Buda side of river, also!
Jenny_H, May 2026
Great trip, lots of people on the boat so if you want to hear the commentary sit at the front! The views of Budapest by night are Amazing!
Clive_M, May 2026
Very good value for money but because of this boat was very crowded,
Small standing section on top deck no seating,
Bar and toilets available.
Ibrahim_A, May 2026
An easy 5 star rating! A lovely sunset cruise and the highlight has to be the live tour commentary - Eric was absolutely amazing and charismatic and we loved hearing about all the history of Budapest. He even threw in a couple of trivia questions and kept us entertained the whole hour. Seeing parliament and the bridges lit up on our return was truly magical. People queue early but we got there about 7:10 (cruise was 7:20). Line was massive but we still got good seats. Refreshments are available to buy on board the boat - but you can take your own food on and it’s fine.

Lovely sights of Budapest at night. Arrive one hour prior to get a good spot on boat. Audio guide info wasn’t clear — couldn’t hear instructions on deck. Wish they would prohibit smoking on deck so one didn’t have to breathe foul air.
Amrita_S, May 2026
The boat is very small - barely 30 seats upstairs outdoors. The remaining indoor seats face inside, not outside. The glass is so dirty you can hardly see anything and there are spiders all across the corner of the windows inside. Very surprising given the price. I’d highly recommend booking with another provider. We flagged this issue with a member of staff online who said that we should contact the provider and upon contacting the provider we were told we should tell someone onboard. In good faith I reached out to them requesting a resolution however, nothing offered. This was conveniently told to us after our cruise.

Wonderful tour. A great way to get a quick summary of the history of Budapest. Our tour guide Eric was awesome. Highly recommend
dawn_t, May 2026
We took the trip at sundown which was best of both as we saw sights in daylight and also with the buildings lit up
