Itinerary
Begin this 4-hour walking tour with a central Berlin hotel lobby meet and greet with the guide. This private tour is a customized experience, so be sure to speak with the guide about any specific requests for desired attractions.
Berlin boasts some of the world’s finest and most interesting architecture with many of the buildings reflecting its history. The communist-era apartment blocks of the east are a stark contrast to the modern architecture of the west, with each side demonstrating its past political ideologies.
Visit Friedrichstrasse, a major culture and shopping street in central Berlin. This is the most famous street in the city, combining the tradition of the “Golden Twenties” with the architecture of New Berlin. See decorated buildings, offices and coffee shops, plus a variety of restaurants, boutiques and department stores, highlighted by Galeries Lafayette.
Across town, there is the Kulturforum, a collection of cultural buildings that were built up in the 1950s and 60s at the edge of West Berlin, after many of the city's cultural assets had been lost behind the Berlin Wall. Its museums, concert halls, libraries and institutes make it one of the most important cultural sites in all of Germany.
Also, there’s Gendarmenmarkt, a historic market square and the site of an architectural trio — Schinkel's Konzerthaus, a concert hall, plus the French and German cathedrals, Deutscher und Französischer Dom. There's also a statue of Germany's renowned poet, Friedrich Schiller, at the center of the square. Combined, it makes for a stunning ensemble.
The tour concludes with a hotel drop-off.

I couldn't say enough great things about this company and the tour guide. We had original scheduled a walking tour through another company for our US interior designer trip to Berlin. 2-days before we left for the trip, they canceled. In a rush, we were lucky enough to find Viator and book a Private 3-hour walking tour of Berlin Architecture. Sara our tour guide was fabulous! She met us right at our hotel to kick off the tour, which was right across from Checkpoint Charlie. Sara had so much knowledge of architecture and design, along with wonderful historical information to share along our journey through Berlin. The 3 hours went by so quickly as we walked from one area to the next, wrapping up at Museum Island. Sara was gracious enough to even walk with us to our Lunch reservations. I highly recommend this company for future tours, and request Sara if available! Thank you for kicking our week off right!

Dear BRITTANY,
Thank you kindly for this excellent review of your Insider Berlin private tour. We were delighted to be able to come to your assistance by providing an excellent guide in Sara who is herself an architect. We have the local knowledge and are well able to show anyone a cross section of Berlin architectual wonders (and some spectacular failures) from past to present. Thank you for touring with us!
Kind regards,
Gerard

This was an excellent architectural tour of Berlin. Thomas was an excellent guide with a wealth of knowledge about the incredible architecture of Berlin- new and old. He was very enthusiastic about the subject and really made us understand what the architects were trying to do when they designed various structures. Even if you are not that interested in architecture, the history associated with various structures in Berlin is worth the tour.

Heiko took us on a whirlwind history, political and architectural tour of Berlin. On our first day of Berlin we received an invaluable orientation of the city, not only geographically but politically and artistically. This tour allowed us to make the best judgement of what and where we wanted to spend the rest of our stay in Berlin. Our guide was amazingly knowledgeable and helpful. He made the difference between a mediocre and an incredible Berlin experience.

I cannot recommend this tour enough! My husband, I and our 15 year old son received a great architectural overview with very interesting and stimulating conversation! Best thing we did in Berlin and worth every penny!!! Thank you!
